I have one issue with this though. They get macbooks from apple and then rip off the monitor and keyboard. So this means that the customer is paying extra money for those two components that will never be used? I don't think that's a smart business plan.
If I'm not mistaken, the keyboard will be replaced by Apple's InkWell to do handwriting to text so it's basically not required anymore. The monitor will still be there but above a Wacom Tablet.
I just got the impression that they order the original macbooks from apple and then modify them. Or do they special order just the computer component of the laptop (no keyboard or monitor)? It seems wasteful to throw away those two parts if you can just get the
This modbook configuration really depends on the users needs.You're right,there's no more keyboard and no longer flips open, but the time and technology put into this is well worth it's price (it's the first Mac Tablet!). To accomodate, they've included 3 options to use a keyboard:1)Virtual keyboard (used w/ stylus), 2)Bluetooth built in for wireless keyboard/mouse, 3)and all the USB ports remain the same to plug in a keyboard.
If that still doesn't work for you, wait for May/June 2009 for the new touch screen on the Mac Book Pro! You'll get to use your stylus and finger touch at the same time!
