  • It's a good cover, but it sounds very similar to the original, all bar the solo. I'm a big of both bands, but like Manson's Personal Jesus and Tainted Love, that's adopting it to the band's style and making it their own. Check out The Wombat's version of Jesse J - Price Tag as a example!

  • Damn. How can my comment not be on Top Comments???

Just look at it on page 10...=( Ok just joking,a bit said my comment is not anymore top comment(it had 48 thumbs up - my record), but still happy to see and hear a Velvet Revolver song...=)

  • you dont like it fuck off, there problem solved for everyone.

i for one love this version more than the original, big fuckin deal its an opinion.

  • Where is VR now? hah...

  • The more i listen to this, the more i hate it, ELO's recording was part of the concept album El Dorado, with crisp orchestrations, awesome singing talent, feeling to the words, musical instrument talent, producing talent, and was a proper original piece of music. This isn't any of that.

  • @RadaMcLaren32C I am starting to hate this song too, but for other reasons...to be honest I don't knew that this is a cover (shame on me), but it makes me remember to all the things...I want to forget. But it's so awesome that I have to listen to. And just like the memories, the song can't get out of my head too.

  • I think the song went the wrong way up the spectrum, i think someone like Alison Moyet would be more at home with a song like this, not Slash. Don't like the change in the lyrics either.

  • They tried but I don't thinking rocking this song was the right approach but that's my biased opinion because nobody writes good songs from the heart anymore like ELO etc.I think Dream Theater or Queensryche would've done a much better rendition of this song because they're more talented than the guys in V.R.

  • @blitzspeer Dream Theater suck a doing cover they try too hard to put overtechnical stuff in it and that doesn't serve the song well Queensryche are good but VR did a pretty good job on it

  • great cover and guitar solo, only a change of the lyrics from original @ :40 "walking through the burning rain"? you mean "walking on a wave chicane" Still, it works. I enjoyed.

  • great job! well done!! :)

  • como me hubiera gustado oírlos en vivo...es lo maximo

  • Jeff Lynne should be ashamed of this.

  • @LoudSoda WHY?! If some one appreciates a persons music and has their own take, I think Lynne would be honoured wither he liked the version or not!

  • @LoudSoda : que pedo contigo es encerio

  • @LoudSoda You sir suck.

    Good day.

  • Velvet revolver?...seriously, how much closer could they get to Guns and Roses. why not Satin Holster? Silky Nine? Steel magnolia's? oh that was taken...lol. Not even to close to ELO or guns and roses in talent.

  • Nah no way this version cant touch ELO....forget it you druggies

  • I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about this when I first came across it. Dammit, Scott Weiland, get your shit together! You are so freaking talented. Amazing cover! And Slash just kills it. Awesome.

  • Very creditable version. Superb solo.

  • Have to say I am an ELO purest to the highest measure and most covers piss me off! But I think this does rock however leave the fuckin lyrics alone boys! Just got to the solo while typing this bit! Fuckin rules does'nt it!

  • Add Paul McCartney on vocals and you have a late period Beatles song...

  • @knighterrantfilms Remember, this is an elo song and a lot of people compared ELO to the Beatles, or rather said that the Beatles were a large influence on ELO's music.

  • Yo tarareaba "Yo la he visto a orillas del mar" con la melodía del estribillo "And I can't get it out of my head" ¡Ambas tienen 9 sílabas! Sin embargo es imposible que teniendo 12 ños como tenía cuando al tarareaba, ahora tengo 41, la haya traducido por mi cuenta.

O sea, mi conclusión es que había una versión en castellano de "Cant Get It Out Of My Head"!!!

Pero googleando no encuentro nada al respecto.

    ¿Alguna idea?

  • The 24 dislikers will be now known as Libertards :D

  • look at best crowd of the world. this is a video compilation of local and international bands.

this is third part, there are three parts.

    comment please

    /watch?v=daNqwsjjdCE

  • Definately prefer Lynne's/ELO's version, but this is also great!!

  • Lyric changes? Um...

  • Hate to admit it , but this is bloody good also !!!

  • ELO or VR...SimpleEEee Awesome aLL thE freAkinG sAmE !!!

    OOCMk12...uR da mAn !!!

  • @colin7709 Glad to be of service :)

  • like this song but i wish we ll see the 5 guns n roses again....i love the old gnr but not the ''new'' ones or the velvet revolver (slash solo album is much better than the v.r.

  • Cool version of the ELO classic. Always nice to hear a great song redone well. Thanks for posting it!

  • While I prefer the ELO version, this was great. Velvet Revolver did a beautiful job covering it.

  • A very credible cover - not as blistering as Pain's Here Is The News though.

  • If you're going to cover a classic...don't change the freaking words!!! LOVE VR, but this sucks ass!!!! Don't F with perfection damn it!!!!!

  • One of the best covers ever done! I've never heard another band cover ELO! Which has to be difficult to do because of ELO's unique sound and use of string instruments. LOVE this cover version by Velvet Revolver.

  • yep.....good stuff

  • Big ELO fan here....love this version. Fountains of Wayne does an excellent live version on their rarities album.

  • fantastic song, silent rage was awesome, so is VR

  • solo is great :) fantastic job slash :)

  • crap

  • NO WAY - Velvet Revolver covering ELO???

My worlds are colliding - this is an excellent version of a classic song.

Would like to know the genesis of these guys picking this tune.

  • I am still grieving over the loss of Velvet Revolver. It was a perfect band. As for this song, there is no need to have to choose one version over the other. They are two separate songs, and we are all free to like only one of them or both of them, or, I guess, neither of them, but then you wouldn't be here! Thanks OOMk12.

  • This song ROCKS! I first heard it at the gym...get that iron pumpin'!

  • if you don't like this version DON"T LISTEN TO IT and don't say it's bad just because you like an other version more, what if velver revolver fans start spamming the ELO version would you appreciate that? NO!

    keep that in mind

  • leave it alone lads!!

  • It's such a good song, even a bunch of poseur drug addicts and alcoholics can sound good doing it. Even Rush Limbaugh would sound half-assed okay doing it.

Claim to be an expert but give credit where it's due. Jeff Lynne vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards, orchestra and choral arrangements. Velvet Revolver just follows him that's all.

  • Just heard this for the first time. Fantastic cover!

  • I don't understand some ELO fans bashing this? Its a Marvelous version! ELO's original was Symphonic Rock, this is a Hard Rock ballad version, they Both OWN!

  • This is a really good song! I commend VR for putting this down on their LP!!! Rock ON!

  • i offer this idea for the guitarists out there: i think this song was a vehicle for someone in VR to use the vibrato on their Fender amp!

  • I know a lot of people don't like this cover but I personally like it. I hope Velvet Revolver come back. Their first albumn was fantastic

  • It would be a decent cover except the guitar's way too loud on the solos.

  • @American86 Idiot! Kelly was the bass player. Stop fighting. ELO, great band. VR, great band, "Can't get it out of my head", great song. There, everyone's happy!

  • greattttttttttttttt songggg... now imagine with W axl rose on it wow

  • Oh my god!!!!! I am a die hard "Electric Light Orchestra" Fan and I am ashame how this so call band name Velvet Revolver destroyed a wonderful hit song that made in 1974.

This verison of this song is CRAP. I "Electric Light Orchestra" verison was lot more better at least I understood words to song perform by ELO!

  • These guys Rock It..! Excellent!

  • Trully Awful cover, i'm sorry but this makes Lily Allens cover of Mr Blue Sky looks like a Beethoven Sympothy! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

  • i agree!!

    ELO all the way

  • shit

  • My knob is enormous

  • Very good cover, great singing, smashing rythm guitar sound, good arrangements suitable for the band's style and sound. I don't like very much Slash's wha guitar solo but it's not bad

  • Slash is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Speaks to the terrible truth eh? I wish I could get a certain bit@h out of my head!

  • I like this song:)

    from Poland

  • I recall Slash was an asshole to Jeff Lynne when they met about this .

Jeff is a fucking legend who's talent is incredible and Slash should have been a bit more respectful to him even if he didn't like his music.

  • it doesn't matter, we're not here to talk about whose an ass to who

  • Amen brother, good music is above petty BS...

  • @HazMatCFO what exactly happened?

  • I have to disagree with all you ELO fans, Scotts voice is way better and SLash's guitar is just mind blowing

  • @Retardasauras - I agree. I think this version is soooo much better than ELO's. Even if Scott is a flaming douchebag

  • ELO for ever!!!!!!

  • Why does it have to be better or worse? Try to just listen and have a good time hearing it all (Weiland's voice, Slash, Duff, everone in their own right...) I'll never understand why people criticize on here, when I hear something crap I just click away from the page...

  • great song, but it would almost be impossible for anyone to top ELO or Jeff lynee....

  • What I find remarable is that this video has more views than the orginal ELO version. Maybe young people will find the ELO version and some of ELO's other stuff, and get turned on to the musical genious of Jeff Lynne (elo frontman).

  • Me too! This doesn't come close to the ELO version.

    Look for the ELO version....

  • i enjoy the ELO version better but this is nice too

  • This version sucks compared to elo..

  • This version isn't bad for those of us who can never get "the 70's" out of our heads, ELO for the most part will take top billing for this song.

  • awesome for an ELO cover- Jeff Lynne would be proud of this one

  • I don't think so.

  • so good song

  • they covered ELO??? WTF? ELO is an amazing band i must say though

  • ELO ftw

  • Velvet Revolver is better than new Guns 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times

  • @adanilo379 si tienes toda la razon velvet revolver es mucho mejor que los guns and roses actuales!!!

  • @adanilo379 Guns n' roses - it's classic, thanks to original voice of axl, and great guitar duo, lead-rhytm, slash-izzy. obviously i'm talking about the old times, not chinese democracy. and velvet revolver? for me it's only slash. the vocalist sounds average and he also looks like homo. if slash wasn't in this band nobody would hear about it. btw. slash's solo blows my mind.

  • ELO ORIGINAL AND BEST FACT!!!!!!!

  • This version is much better than original

    Aguante Velvet Revolver

    VR RULZ!

  • you're fucking insane

  • Comment removed

  • i love the song.

    rogue wave's version is WOW.

    oc.

    peace.

  • Youtube's posting is the first time I've heard Velvet Revolver's cover of this Jeff Lynne classic. I could have done without the unnecessary changes to the lyrics, but overall this is a credible version of one of Lynne's greatest songs. Slash's blistering solo adds a new dimension to the piece. Well played!

  • i agree thanks man...

  • I was impressed until I heard the non-original lyrics which ruined the whole thing...

  • First time hearing this cover version Actually its not as bad as I feared, not a bad effort

  • live stuff are also recorded.

  • nice perform, but yet it cant get over the ELO performance

  • Can't Get It Out of My Head - Velvet Revolver (Recorded)

what else would it be than recorded??

  • live lol

  • live stuff is are also recorded

  • fuckin hell your like the 1000th person to say that, get the fuck over it, yes maybe i should have put (studio version) or whatever but just listen to it and stop complaining about the little things for fuck sake.

  • hehehehe....

  • i had no idea this was a cover until today. have velvet revolver done any more covers?????

  • They have covered this song, Pink Floyd's "money", Talkin head's "Psycho Killer", and of course a few GnR's songs as well as STP's as far as i know. Please feel free to add any other VR covers...Love them

  • Also Pink floyd's "wish u were here" but theyve just played it live.

  • Great song. Best from Libertad

  • good remake.... seriously... well done...

  • i think the mid 8 in the elo version is wkd the one with the synthisizer but slash equals it with an amazing solo so i think there both equal

  • check out my cover of this cover lol and the end i shred in a solo! :D

  • More criticizers.......... boring.

  • Velvet Revolver Another Great Cover

Slash Put An Imasing Solo Into It

  • i saw them play it live - amazing!

  • great songª!!!!

  • The vocals are pretty good, almost channeling Jeff Lynne, and the guitar adds something for sure, but the ELO version is an enduring classic and this is pedestrian by comparison. Good job VR having the balls to touch an ELO ballad.

  • I think this one is better than the ELO version, it has just more power in it + better guitars.

  • how old were you when you first heard the original? ya see i was 15 or 16 when i heard it the place and time made it special therefor you cant in my opinion, cant touch the original. which is way better. its ELO's baby.

  • I'm just 14 now.... And i think everbody has his or her own opinion, I just like this one more that the ELO version.

  • that's cool my friend. we agree it's great tune. keep rockin kid

  • somebody should kill this fucks for singing jeff`s song...hitting them with a rod hot crowbar, until they die

  • i like both songs. ELO haas more feeling though. i like this one for slashs wah cries...its beautiful too.

  • Electric Light Orchestra was it's best on 1971-1976.. then it turned Pop.. *sigh*

  • yes they were elo was king but what occured? whyd they die like the monkees? they should be around still....id cry to see them

  • Yeah..

  • Tags, Jeff Lynne, Elo???? Lol..

  • The chorus is the only part I really like... But it's nice to see that some bands still respect old legends like Jeff Lynne. Eldorado, the birth of ELO's consecutive pwnage on all music from 76 to 82.

  • They are'nt splitin` I read about it.. to but, followed up on it. THEY ARE'NT SPLITTING!

  • ryt i no tht scott was chucked/left but i also read sumwhere tht VR might be splitting up???? does anyone know what is next for VR???

  • slash said that they would continue without scott.

  • im glad scott left hes on to better things...his own band

  • Very beautiful cover.

  • who sings the original

this is my fav song of libertad... to bad scot lieft even if he was a junkie he was a pretty good singer

  • Electric Light Orchestra sings the original, so it's a lush orchestrated ballad.

  • Interesting.

  • Что это за Вельвет револьвер? Но весьма неплохо!

  • Great cover of an ELO classic.

  • how come they never play this live

  • hate to tell you guys that arent from the era of the original that theres no way that you could respect this version.a new spin on a classic. they both are fine..

  • This version is at least as good as the original. I had not heard the original until recently, but it definitely hasn't stood the test of time. I can't say if this one will be relevant 20 or 30 years from now, but goddamn, right now it sure rocks my socks. :D

  • are you serious? the original is a beautiful and haunting song. this is rocked up and loses the beauty and soul of the original. this does nothing for me.

  • Remaking the ELO original is, at any rate, a tribute to ELO, one of the most underrated classic rock bands of all time!!!

  • Actually, I like this as much if not more than the original.

  • You're right. Slash isn't an asshole. He's a saint. He had some interview with Gibson, and he walks in (in a SUIT!) 15 minutes early, APOLOGIZING for being late! And the receptionist looks up, a look of holy respect for the rock idol before her on her face, and rises out of respect and holds out her hand for a shake--and you know what Slash does? He IGNORES the gesture and pulls this woman into a friendly embrace, begging her pardon that he's SO late! A Saint. That's just the person he is.

  • Good cover. Great actually

  • Great cover. I like this version just as much as the original. I'm from the 60's and 70's era, so my opinion counts.

  • first time ive heard these guys brilliant superb cover. beautful end solo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The original version of ELO is much better.

  • wtf is this copied shit

  • its called a cover

  • no shit

  • this is a great cover of a great song

  • They used some of the lyrics that ELO left off the airtime release

  • I watched an interview where Slash and it seemed like he wasn't very happy making this cover of an ELO song. Don't know if he doesn't like making cover songs or ELO or Jeff Lynne?

I recall he said he met Jeff at a restaurant and wasn't real enthusiastic. Slash is a great musician himself and I was surprised there was a lack of respect for a legend like Jeff.

  • I've met an A-hole. It wasnt Slash...

  • Slash is a great guitarist. One of the best, maybe he was having a bad day. I've met Billy Sheehan, Steve Vai, and Zakk Wylde. They were all super cool people.

  • ur a big fag

  • I met slash at a velvet revolver meet and greet... slash isnt an ass hole he just isnt a conversationalist

  • Prolly a guy in a good Slash costume. I met Slash and he was really nice!

  • yerrr!

a beer for you young sir!

  • I was surprised they'd cover an ELO song, but then again, Def Leppard covered '10538 Overture.'

  • It's a great song and Velvet Revolver did it proud.

  • This is great, I don't care if they copied it. Artists are copying each other all the time. Eminem "Sing for the Moment" and Aerosmith "Dream On". There are many more but that one comes to mind right now. Just because it is copied, doesn't mean it is bad. I like both Aerosmith's and Eminem's. I personally like this one better, but both "Can't get it out of my head" versions are good in their own way

  • I could feel with ELO version more, where as this one just feels like jamming at points. The ELO version I can listen to on repeat and almost fall into a trance. Cause the singer is letting all his feelings out in the lyrics. The orchestra background adds a perfect balance to the song as well. Maybe someone else can explain it better.

  • exactly. kudos to you
