  • This song makes me think of an abused little girl. I'm thinking along the lines of Samara Morgan. Such a beautiful song, but still she manages to make it sound chilling and sinister.

  • I love this song. It sounds so

    creepy!~ <3

  • It's fine Emilie. I didn't feel like sleeping tonight, anyways.

  • I love the simplicity of this song and her amazing voice<3.

  • i want this played for my first dance at my wedding :)

  • Wow, creepy. I like it.

But I think I feel more secure with Billie's version, this puts me kind of on edge.

  • I saw Apollo 18 the other day, and that night I got so freaked out, that I had to turn on my computer and listen to this song to call myself down....

    Is that a bad thing?

  • I don't really know, why she wanted to sing a song from Billie Holiday, but it defenitely was a great idea. =)

  • Somehow I had to think of Helena Carter as I heard this song. Weird.

  • This is on my MP3 player. ^^

  • This should have been the closing song for Fallout 3. I love both versions.

  • And now listen to Rozz Williams - Time. If you experienced this song, the journey will go on.

  • I think this represents the Opheliac EA was talking about.

  • @LaurRAHR That, should be a movie o.O

  • Whenever I hear this i think of this song being a meaningful song to a couple. Then the woman catches the man cheating and makes her crazy or upset.. She doesnt say anything but one night when she fixes him supper she puts something in his drink to make him sleep. He wakes up and is tied up. There are candles and rose petals around him. Little does he know that that night will be his last. This is the song that the woman sings as she washes the blood off her hands. O.o

  • @LaurRAHR Wtf that should be turned into a short film or something :D

  • @chelmoekilljoy Yeah, I thought the same thing!! XD

  • Only ea (love her obviously I am a muffin) Could make this sound like shes actually crazy.

  • so soothing! and relaxing. maybe now i can sleep

  • This suits Fallout far more than the song actually on Fallout.

  • My brother always complains about how she sounds like a male.Well, He should listen to this.

  • O___o; I clicked this video, expecting not to know the song. Next thing I know I'm looking around thinking "Wtf... I'm not playing Fallout 3, where's that coming from?"

  • @RuikeiWolf I was hoping it was that XD and spazzed a bit after

  • There's a show called Fear Itself an episode called echoes it's about a guy moves into a house where a supposed murder happened and he gets images of a young girl and a guy who he believes to be him in a past life. It's really good and the woman he loves sings this song in his visions. :) so check out Fear Itself

  • I heard this song on Fall Out games. My older brother is gonna freak out x3 He thinks EA sounds like a guy

  • I love how this song gave me chills. :)

  • This... This should be in the background of a scene in some horror movie where the wife kills the husband, panning around the blood and gore beauty......

  • fAlLoUt 3 On DrUgS???!!!!!!?!?!?!?!!!!?!?!?!

  • They should put this version on Fallout 3 D:

  • I will never understand this, why listen to the song if you're only going to dislike the video?

  • FreaketteTV lol so would mine xDD

  • wow...

this should be my theme song...

    minus love... xD

    i love it lol

  • expected* lol it's late. You get the idea

  • I think this song is meant more literally than I initially thought. In this morbid context, she expresses how men have been diagnosing women for years as just "crazy" and how some even still say that. Women slightly overpopulated asylums bc men just dumped them there for new a new wife. The rest is how women are suspected to be subserviant "I'll move the mountains if he wants them out of the way".

  • I WANNA MEET HER SOOOOOO BAD

  • I love Emilie Autumn. She is so talented. <3

  • Beautiful. ^_^

Emilie manages to keep this a tender love song while adding a chilling, almost demented feel.

I love the product of this equation.

  • Those crazy ugly chick ghouls were all trying to sing with her.

  • This is really alike the whole Fallout 3 thing... The voices go through, but the echoes of DC goes through the sound :b

  • If I have commented before, sorry for spam.

    Anyways:

I always listen to this in October.

Does this mean something or am I just superstitious?

  • I love this song but...waking up in the middle of the night...hearing ths...? I would shit myself

  • ok first of all this is a very good cover,& i like her even more now,cuz she has gotten me into billie holiday, but the only bad thing is this pic,is so....spooky,she does not look bad or anything, its just the way its made looks like something from a horror book & i always feel like towards the end her head will move or something, yhea stupid....:\

  • @JacyDemy autumn-ness?

  • Anyone else get the distinct feeling that this song changes just because it's Emilie? When Billie did it, it probably was a love song, but coming from Emilie, it sounds like it's about domestic abuse.

Yeah, this is good, but I like her original stuff better than her covers. Covering music seems to limit her...her...her Autumn-ness.

And did she take the look in the pic directly from Phantom of the Opera? If so, niiiice.

  • @JaceyDemy

Yes I feel the same about when she does covers. But I believe this is my favorite because she definitely made it more her own

  • @JaceyDemy You do realize that Billie was the victim of domestic abuse and narcotic drug addiction her whole life... right?

  • @JaceyDemy it also sounds as if shes well...hauntingly crazy and that's why I love her. I didn't even know this was a cover. :o

  • well, the singing is good of course, but it sounds like an alien recorded this.

  • Butchered a masterpiece, but hey to each their own.. who am i to tell someone to stop exercising their talent.

  • this is the kind of music you could just float to. if that makes sense

  • that scared me! but for some reason.... i like that ;)

  • This one is probably one of my favorites <3

One thing is I can never tell which song is my favorite,THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD

  • Why so much negativity =(

    I love both versions.

  • original's much better

  • @CherryRimmel I say they're pretty equal.

  • She's an amazing musician and singer. But has completely wrecked this song.

  • the lyrics them selves are creepy, the vocals even creepier, I LIKE IT!!!!

  • Fuck, I'm crazy. ;)

  • @LiarlaLover007 Aren't we all?

  • I'm a fan of Billie Holiday and Emilie Autumn, and I must say... this is a good cover.

Not nearly as amazing as the original, but still good.

  • The most honest "love song" ever - as beuatiful that it hurts~

  • nice voice, but it doesnt compare to Billie Holiday, the original will can't be compared to (:

  • I love how creepy and haunting it sounds ^.^

  • she has a sexy voice. but what the fuck is up with the background noise?

  • Okay, to those who are saying that it's too different from the original, what would be the point in simply copying it? Yes a lot of covers these days are basically just replicas of the original song but I personally think that's bull. EA has an amazing talent for making a song mean something to her and making it her own, and that's what she's done here. I think it's an incredible cover.

  • @MrsLazarou I couldn't agree with you more.

I hate when covers are made just so a band can try to sound exactly the same as the original. I love how she makes it her own. She makes all her covers her own =] It's a wonderful talent.

  • do you have a link to this mp3..i love listening to it but haven't been able to separate it from miss lucy's leeches

  • I love creativity and imagination but I'll have to think about this rendition some more.

  • I like this version better then the original... love makes us pathetic... loving like this is pathetic... it doesnt worse it, it is suicidal... its like a poison which kills slowly.

  • why is it that some of her songs she is show pased and at ease and the other ones she is SCREAMING HER HEAD OFF? why is it?

  • Because She tries to have a variety of genres

  • @TheMorgan2016 Because she's Emilie Autumn of course. ^.^

  • Grate voice but dont liked the edition work

  • This song is beautifully haunting! ^-^ Emilie is so talented, I could listen to all her songs forever and never get tired of them!

    Spread the Plague

  • I went to bed listening to this and I couldnt even sleep it scared me to much :) but its a good song

  • Fallout 3 o_o

That's the only way I know this song. But I love how Emilie Autumn sings it =)

  • okay, another great song for that musical :) she could be walking in like a forrest at night, thats what im thinking. anyone have the same idea or any other ideas?

  • lol my ex bf had left a cd with this song on it in the stereo at work, and it went on randomly and everyone was like.... o.o wtf? They thought it was a ghost or something... LOL

  • Reminds me of the cheshire cat.

I can imagine Alice walking in wonderland with this song playing in the background. It gets darker and at the end everything disappears.

    I love Emilie. ♥

  • The echo at about 1:00 is too much.

  • It looks like someone has been playing Fallout 3.

  • @Lostwinddragon Fallout 3 <3

  • hehe Emilie has such weird and awesome music tastes! I like her 'gothic' sounds better but this is downright amazing!

  • Oh wow XDD

  • I don't really like Emilie's cover songs.

But I have to say that she does do an amazing job of making the songs her own and putting her own unique feelings into it.

Makes me want to listen to the songs even though I don't like them.

  • I like the plain-ness in this song. The echo and the stuff in the background added to the effect. It wouldn't be the same(It'd be worse) if she had put instruments and industrialism into it. I like it the way it is. Better than Billy Holiday, that's for sure. *hugs song*

  • I like the way she sings it, though I haven't ever heard her singing this live.

I personally think it's a shame she added the annoying echo, it would have been better with no music at all, or just the original.

Don't hate me, but sometimes I just get the feeling Emilie has become lazy, and only pays attention to her looks nowadays.

But I guess it's just a matter of taste.

  • I got goosebumps! On my legs. No bueno. I <3 Emilie. She's so amazing and talented.

  • BEST LOVE SONG EVER.

  • guess what? i was just listening to this song and the wind started blowing really hard and my halloween decorations almost blew away outside and i had to run out and get them. and it was pouring out. but the sun was out and some clouds started to cover the sun too. creepy huh? and it was at the end of the song too

  • Oh, my God.

Same thing happened to me. >>

  • lol yeah it was sooooo weird. it's like when i watch criss angel mindfreak or ghost hunters when im alone in my house.

  • Wow. Absolutely mesmerizing. Creepy in a great sort of way.

  • I like how earie and mystical it sounds. Very dark. I like that. I like her singing.

  • omg i felt so cold listening to this song O.O

and i was as warm as can be prior to.

  • OMG...that really gives me goosebumps!...She's so great in everything she does!

    greetings from Germany

  • I imagine it like this, an old mytological tale or something like that and this women is desperately in love and she is singing in the dark by her lonesome and some kids are quietly watching her, its creepy like that OMG!!!

  • This cover is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • W-why do I love this so much? o__o

  • Best cover ever? Very likely.

  • i think its funny when people say emilie cant sing, for the simple fact that they are so used to media corrupted, conforming to society, over played radio crap.

when something interesting and unique like emilie with her own style and voice its apparently dreadful.

i happen to like all types of music no matter how strange or popular. but i guess to each his own...

  • I don't get it either...

    I love emilie.

  • @circleofdeath Angsty little fella, aren't you? Emilie's a whiny bi-polar bitch. Get over it.

  • @circleofdeath You're claiming to be a non-conformist? Ah the conformity of a non-conformist.

  • @circleofdeath Yeah, but she misses so many notes! This isn't strange. She just turns a classic Billie Holiday song into a goth pile of off-key gimmick. She sounds cool, but she can't really sing. No, she isn't strange. Naked City is strange...she's just a mediocre singer...

  • @KnightsOfOceania

"Goth pile of off-key gimmick..." First, Emilie is very much not goth, for goth you might try Siouxie and the Banshees or The Cure. EA is considered Violindustrial :) And what book can I read that gives the rules of covering a song, where everything has to be the same note as the original? She made it her own. I don't particularly like it, how rare that is for me to not like a work by Emilie, but I see nothing wrong with music.

  • @KnightsOfOceania

Dude, you just made a bad move. Firstly, she didn't miss notes. She arranged the song, it's called a COVER. If she was doing the exact same copy as the original I'm sure she could get the notes. Just listen to Bohemian Rhapsody. She gets that Bb without any trouble. Secondly, she stayed in key for the whole song. What is your classification of a person who can 'really sing'? She may not be a professional opera singer, but she's much better than a lot of other people.

  • @giovannimartinezm5

You're seriously fucked if you think Lady Gaga is what artists should aspire to look like.

  • @giovannimartinezm5

She's naturally pale.... and does makeup for covershoots. If you've even seen her live she's not painted white.

  • @giovannimartinezm5

Of course, of course.. Because the most important thing on an artist is the look.. What's to do about an artist who sings well, very very well, and is completely ugly..? Nothing, I don't even know why they try to have a career as an musician if they're not good looking..

    *cof* sarcasm *cof*

Wait a second.. Maybe that's not that sarcastic IF you think of the mainstream music..

    Oops, my mistake..

  • @AnahrKas That lady from Britain's Got Talent, Susan Boyle, proves your theory sir/madam. It's unfortunate but true.

  • @circleofdeath Billie Holiday would cry. And not in a good way.

  • @celinedc There's a difference between an homage and a mauling of a song. When John Mayner or whatever that idiots name is covers for Tom Petty's Free Falling, thats a mauling of a song. When Buckethead covers Mortal Kombat's theme, thats an homage. Quality is the difference, quality and a little bit of heart.

I'd like to think Emilie did a good enough cover to call it an homage and nod to the original, which as in most things is of course the best. But there's more then best & worst.

  • @Farbo123 The fact that you use "cover" when speaking of a jazz standard, seriously makes me doubt that you know what you are listening to. Maybe you need to learn more about humidity when sharing your opinion. My opinion can not be "right" or "wrong", neither can yours. I commented on this version of "crazy he calls me" from a jazz perspective. And yes, 9/10 jazz-singers probably cry when they hear this. And some other singers because it's just off-key. "Different" does not equal "good" ;)

  • @celinedc i think you mean, "humility" which is the quality of being modest, reverential, even politely submissive, and never being arrogant . Where as "humidity" is the amount of water vapor in the air. Grammar Nazi... AWAY!!!

  • @DamienTepps I'm Belgian, Dutch is my mother tongue ;) Thanks anyway to correct me, I'm happy to know now ^^ I feel so silly know :D

  • @celinedc Geen probleem. ^_^

  • @Farbo123 Yet I respect your opinion to find this beautiful, as you should respect mine to have the opposite opinion. That's exactly why music is so interesting. There's something for you to like, something for me to dislike. Something to learn and something to forget. It's what keeps music in a constant evolution.

  • @celinedc I think if jazz singers were expecting this cover to be 100% jazz then yeah, they may be disappointed. But I think it fits more with Emilie's "horror Cabaret/Gothic Vaudeville". You should look up her songs Faces Like Mine, Hollow Like My Soul, Be Silent Be still and Don't Blame Me. The last two are under the name Jane Brooks Project, but she has a smooth jazzy sound to her voice in all that I listed. Imo anyway

  • This is just plain awesome. Very nice re-invisoning for the era of the ruins of the american dream

  • this song is pretty friggen scary xD

    but i love it.

Emilie has such a unique voice.

  • I was going to say this song is insaely disturbing and depressing.....but giving the concept of the game it's based on...a post-apocalyptic world...I'd say it fits pretty well...but its still pretty damn creepy

  • Originally heard this song in Fallout 3 and heard that EA did a cover so I had to check it out. She made it creepy and actually put the "crazy" back in "crazy he calls me". I rather enjoy hearing this unique spin on the song. I think Billie's version showed the crazy as in a "goo goo ga ga" aspect, Whereas Emilie shows her own crazy as in "I want to mix our blood and put it in the ground" kinda stalkerish crazy. I like em both I guess I'm tryin to say, lol

  • if this version was in fallout i think i would have shit my pants when i heard it lol

  • I honestly have no idea why this is rated down.

  • I think people misinterpreted what I said but its ok at least someone realised =)

  • I actually like the way she redid this classic. It's very much in her style.

  • she is soo wonderful doin this

  • Wow.

    It makes me shiver.

    *chills*

    I love her voice.

And the emotion and darkness she puts in some of her songs are amazing.

I fall asleep to this song.

    Anyone think that is weird?

  • That's amazing. I fall deeply in love with this song. (: Care to love it with me? Or shall we just sleep soundly together?

  • wow....this song is played in fallout 3 , but the original version...i love emilie (=

  • YAY!! X3

    <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • Oh wow! I just opened up the same song in two different windows by accident. One started a little sooner than the other. It was AWESOME!!

It was like double the eeriness and it sounded so lovely and dreamy!

  • I did the same after this comment, and now I love you for that. :D

    It sounds so amazing...

  • i just tried that. opening two. its sick!!! i lvoe it!

  • LOL!

    <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • So strange, I imagine a mad girl who sings this song Oo

    I liiiike ! Wonderful song !

  • sounds like it would be in Bioshock 2

  • O_O oh my, a whole new spin on the song eh. ^^ thanks for puting these up. I want her CDs now~

  • I don't know if I like this. Like, it's pretty cool. It's kind of creepy, though.

  • Damn! This song gives me the creeps

  • Wow, I have shiver all over my body...

Emilie has such a geat voice.

  • It reminds me of like.. a mermaid..

I could picture her sitting in a cave singing this with a mermaid's tail. XD

  • Sirens looked kind of like mermaids...maybe shes part siren!!! :) :) :) Thats why she can sing so awesomely!!! j/k...XD...but still...

  • She has to sing this live!

  • What a talented singer :)

As soon as i heard her i was sending links to all my friends :)

Her voice has the abilty to make me smile or sad.

    :)

  • I heard the original on Fallout 3!

    I love both versions. <3

  • i agree both versions are very powerful and beautiful

  • me too!

  • Same here. It's quite eerie how this cover sounds so fitting with F3's atmosphere. ;D

  • amazing how just changing the mood of the song changes its meaning

  • Billie Holiday and Emilie Autumn for the win, althuogh EA's version is more depressing, whereas Billie Holiday's version was quite merry and upbeat, although she was incredibly depressed.

Maybe that's why Emilie Autumn relates her music to Billie Holiday, as she always tries to make it sinister and such.

Or perhaps she just likes the song/lyriics/Billie holiday. :D

  • The original played on Fallout 3

  • Slightly creepy, yet so very beautiful!

  • PrincessAdelight, just like all her songs... :D

  • does anyone else shiver when tthey listen to this song?

  • yes.

    pleanty of shivers

  • Can I dedicate this to my husband?

    Thank you!

  • crazy in love with her talent :) she's got something i need... food for soul :D

  • Reminds me of Harley Quinn and The Joker's romance :)

  • this song is crazy xD and i love the song and yes its realy haunted ,Emilie have amasing voise <3

  • her voice is so amazing @.@

  • I like her version. She puts her own energy into it - a hopeless love, as opposed to the original which is much warmer. But that's EA's style. She's made it her own, and totally changed the meaning of the song in such an ingenious, subtle manner!
