man i remember the day after they were showing on the news what the destruction loked like i never did really see how bad it was till i went down to Gulf Shores to Souviener City and saw their pictures they had on the wall! they got hit hard! i was looking at one of the videos on here about Ivan and it amazed me how far the water from the ocean went up 59! my family and I still go down to Gulf Shores and i have pictures of what Ivan did to the State Pier. amazing what nature does but scary as 2.
Oh Ivan... I live in Mobile and I lost my home to this storm :( . Everything is back to normal now. No worse feeling in the world to pull up in your drive way and see part of your roof rolled up like the lid of a sardine can. Took us a year to get it rebuilt because the insurance companies are the biggest scamming crooks in the entire world. $49,000 worth of damage to a home that was appraised at 50,000 and they wouldn't totaly it and would only give us a little at the time to repair.
I understand what everyone's saying about how the levees are what screwed New Orleans BUT has anyone seen the pictures and videos of Mississippi after Katrina? IT LITERALLY LOOKED LIKE AN ATOMIC BOMB WENT OFF!!! New Orleans was flooded but Mississippi was obliterated and got the full brunt of the 24 ft. storm surge.
God I love my Florida, will I ever move? Hell no, oh and I live in Mary Esther. Destin side of Hurlbert Field, or east side which ever one you prefer.
lol i live in navarre. we stayed in FWB for ivan, running out in the storm to move your truck before a tree falls on it is alot of fun. flying kids swiming pool.looked like a UFO
Yea, I remember this hurricane...I stayed to...I was in Milton, Fl when it hit and it hit us pretty damn hard to...Whic was really cool to...Nice video///
Hey smooch, you know the real deal. That was one hell of a storm; there is some ass whipe on several different of these posts trying to say that we got Cat 1 winds or less in Milton. Too bad he wasn't in hallways and bathrooms of our little Milton homes where we were getting pounded!!!! If we were getting Cat 1 winds, how is it that the I-10 Bridge, at least 20 feet off the water, floated off it's spans? He's popping off about how Charley was worse for Punta Gorda. LoL!
Hey whats up!...Yea well we just got hurricane Ike in Texas! We just got our power turned on!...It was one hell of a storm it was 2 when it hit but serge was a 4 or 5 soemthing like that...

Not to mention fema wouldn't help us AT ALL. Thank God we had family down here or we would have been homeless.

Yes, Katrina was MUCH worse. I mean, our police officers didn't have to loot any Walmarts.
If it had not been for the levy breaks, Katrina would have been a cake walk compared to Ivan. It goes to the PPP. Pee poor planning.
FL and Bama folks have the planning down!

@waywildcherri your forgetting about coastal Mississippi... you know, the part that was completely destroyed by surge.
