I question the percussive intelligence of anybody that thinks they should have placed higher than 3rd. They absolutely raised the bar on GE, but their musical performance was nowhere close. An easy book(relative to the competition), and execution that was not championship quality.
I was there when that video was taken. I'm in the Everett High School Percussion ensemble from Everett, MA. We got robbed from 1st place by .5 twice. Oh the memories...
LOL let me set it straight- Aimachi is NOT the name of the town they are from!!
but i totally just saw them today!! it was awesome. they're such cool ppl. i have a better version of the solo on my page- not to discredit yours... but my sound lines up.
Oh man. seeing that at prelims that year was one of the most exciting experiences ever. Considering most hadn't seen their show prior to it, because, well, they're from Japan, the collective reaction from everyone in the Nutter Center when the tenors started their feature was just overwhelming.
I couldn't stand MCM's show. I was too distracted by all the gimmicks to notice the difficulty or cleanliness of the book.
Would be even more enjoyable if the video+audio actually lined up... Thought it was my home computer, but tried an a brand new machine on a T1 - didn't help.
yeah they didn't deserve first, MCM's book was harder, and Aimachi's guard hurt them for the fact they had a huge roll. I'd rather them get rid of the guard and have to drums do it all.
I remember when we were there for world how everyone boo'd the judges because they thought that Aimachi should have gotten a higher score, then after booing the judges Aimachi got a standing ovation from the crowd

it was awesome, no doubt, but it certainly wasn't 1st place worthy compared to MCM. still, they should've gotten 2nd tho...

I saw that. Their prelims performance was absolutely top-notch; finals, eh not so much but still noteworthy.
Props to them for being the first ones to do something like that and even MORE props for it being relatively clean.
