Go back and watch the video from 85 when Ole & Arn put a real real real serious beat down on Magnum T.A. He got caught up doing interview in the dressing room by his self next thing you know it was lights out for Magnum.
tommy rich, buzz sawyer, ole and arn anderson, ric flair, paul orndorf, jyd, jimmy valliant, dusty rohdes, magnum ta, tully blanchard, ron garvin, dick murdoch, tito santana, the samoans afa and sika, butch reed, thunderbolt patterson, ernie ladd, pez whatley, the barbarian, the road warriors, sting, dick slater, roddy piper, don muracco, kevin sulivan, abdulah the butcher, bruiser brody, the russians, paul jones, the masked superstar, superstar destroyer, the rnr express, to be cont.
@scumgod13 Yeah, he was so crazy he had a stretch where he got over as a good guy...I forget exactly how long because I was a kid, but he was cheered for a while.
pretty stiff rights toward the end. looks like they were trying to bust sawyer open. and that leap with the knee to the side of the head from ole looks pretty damn ballsy to pull off. no re-takes on that one! great post. thanks.
After 4:28, you didn't see Mark Cooper in the ring again. I'd like to see more matches of Ole and Arn Anderson on YouTube soon, their matches against jobbers and inexperienced wrestlers in 1985, 1986 and 1987.
where did they get their opponents back in the day? Its like a van just pulled up to the unemployment line and asked if anybody wants to work for the day as a jobber.
There were several that shouldn't have been out there wrestling back in the '80s. Some looked out of shape. They should have put some hours in the the gym and muscle themselves up the way that the WWE wrestlers do now. But this was way before the interest got bigger in the mid-80s for the main events, massive TV contracts and pay per views for wrestling.
@mabood1212 There were more than 30 Professional Wrestling Promotions across the United States and Canada back then. If you wanted to become a Professional Wrestler, you had a lot of places you could work and learn to perform in front of a crowd, learn to do interviews and cut promos.
@mabood1212 To be a "jobber" then meant you could look like you never touched a barbell in your life. Just have the ability to look like you have no ability.
I remember when this encounter occured. I was watching WCW one Saturday evening as it happened. This was when Dick Slater and Buzz Sawyer were feuding with Ole and Arn Anderson.
The rumours are that Buzz was a legit toughass some guy put a gun to his or in his mouth, buzz smiled took the gun away and prceeded to whop that guys ass.
You REALLY have to give those referees a LOT of credit as well, Like Tommy Young, Teddy Long, Randy Anderson, Steve Gregory, Mike Fever, Scrappy McGowan, and Nick Patrick, they were the best referees the NWA had in those days.
do you think that any tag team or wrestler remember ole and to a lesser extent did that when they were solo wrestler compare this to the stuff they have the hutzpah to pas off as wrestling excuse me entertainment today
You'd have to be a fool to imagine that any tag team could stand in the fire with the Andersons. What you see right here makes it real clear that Sawyer, TA, Dusty Rhodes, you name it any day any era! The Minnesota Wrecking Crew were the all time WRESTLING TEAM. They prove it!!!
THAT was REAL Wrestling. Sure miss those classic wrestling matches. I also miss the referees I knew, like Tommy Young, The late Randy Anderson, Nick Patrick, Steve Gregory, Mike fever, Scrappy McGowan, and Teddy Long.
The Andersons really roughed up Alan Martin's arm! Alan must have gotten a haircut--his hair was always longer. He looked like he was just starting out in wrestling.

Oh man, NWA-JCP had a DEEP roster in 1985...Flair, Rhodes, Blanchard, Andersons, Sawyers, Warriors, RnR, Midnights, Wahoo, Fernandez, Garvin, the Russians, Haynes, Slater, Superstar Graham, Valiant, Taylor, Landell, Dundee, Barbarian, etc...

So did they perform in front of only 75 people because this was supposed to be more for TV?
Ninety2q 1 year ago
@Ninety2q Yeah, they were bringing thousands in to house shows nightly. They just did TV for TBS at Turner Studios because Turner liked it that way.
