I typed format on the Cmd line. Did I screw up my USB or do I just have to wait and then format to fat32. It's 32gb so it's been a while now but I'm still worried.
@11TechGuy Then why did you watch it you fool, i was like about 23 years when i made this video, i kept this video an re uploaded it to this channel when i launched it, now i'm 17 and i know more than you can ever think, so please dude DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.
@TheRekash2009 when i start the new hard drive and try to boot it with the files in the flash drive the screen goes black and stays like that what do i do? i followed the steps in the video correctly
@familyguy5665 Just connect the new hdd to your current pc without disconnecting your main hdd. and when boot menu somes up asking which hdd to install on just select the new hdd.
Can someone help me? I do what the vid says to do... i download wintoflash, use it with windows xp,... It's on my flash drive and i put boot from usb on the boot options on my pc. My pc has no os, but it prepares for install without a problem, but right when it starts the install it says the flash drive is not compatible with the pc. Please help...
@giojoex try another flash drive, suz if it has an option that uses booting from a flash drive it would work, so maybe your mother is not compatible with that flash drive, what type is it?
Once you know you can boot from USB in the BIOS (I believe the drive itself also has to support booting from it, not sure on that one, I've only heard rumors about that) you will need an existing install of Windows (any version) to make the flash drive bootable. I use the HP USB Format Utility (search Google for its location, I don't think YouTube will let me post URLs in my comments.) You will need to get hold of a Windows 98 boot disk (again, search Google for this, there's all kinds (cont)
of places to get this. Use the HP USB format utility to format the disk to FAT32 (this seems to be the best filesystem to use, don't ask me why, but NTFS seemed a little bit slower when I installed my Windows XP) and select the "Create a DOS startup disk" and "using DOS system files located at" options. This should make the USB drive bootable. Then search Google for instructions on installing your respective operating system. There are different methods for each Windows version. (cont)
Again, I strongly suggest you don't install XP to the USB drive unless you have a lot of physical RAM to use, because on my system (which only has a gig of RAM) XP ran incredibly slow, since XP doesn't seem to support the creation of a pagefile on a USB drive. (I can set the virtual memory settings in XP, but they don't keep very well.)
@TheNAMAN1234567 What Windows are you using? If you're using XP, you're better off installing to a regular hard drive. I'm booting XP off my 16GB USB flash drive now, and it's just slow as molasses. That's because you can't get the pagefile on the flash drive. XP just doesn't support that. (Perhaps it may work with later versions, I will try 7, and report my results.)
Besides that, your BIOS has to support booting to USB in the first place. (Not really an issue, since most modern (cont)
motherboards will support it. (Check for USB-ZIP or USB-Floppy as boot options, they're very often referred as such.) If you don't have those options out of the box, and you know what you're doing, you can try flashing the BIOS. (This is NOT for the novice user, and you can destroy the BIOS chip if you do it wrong. Some motherboards have replaceable BIOS chips, but others do not. I take no responsibility if you decide to flash your BIOS, and turn your computer into a doorstop.) (cont)

@TheRekash2009 Actually, he's right, that is one of many ways to boot Windows to a USB drive. The ngine method is the same one I use.
