  • How on earth are you strumming in this video? I can't see you doing any muting or anything but your strings aren't ringing out and mine are. Sounds so much better how you do it!

    Thanks for the awesome videos!

  • @davesbeard try to place your palm as close as u can to ur string but make sure that u are not doing muting..ermm..and try not to strum all 6 strings i think..

  • dude thanks ive just been learning guitar tabs so far without necessarily learning how to play guitar but your lessons are really helping

  • God, I love the chunka chunka explanation of the sound :D Good video - very helpful :)

  • isn't it

    I I I I, IV IV, I I, V, IV, I repeat?

  • I like your sweater.

  • Thank you Justin. That marks the first time I have ever played anything on guitar. Cool. Thank you so much!

  • Great video Justin! Very helpful.

Have just started learning the guitar and can remember friends at high school who were learning, playing this progression again and again! And that was back in 1964! LOL!!! X-)

  • got a question if anyone can take a second to answer:

can the chord order in 12 bar blues be changed freely? because on wikipedia and from friends, ive learned that it goes A,A,A,A,D,D,A,A,E,D,A,A

    this video's version goes A,A,A,A,D,D,A,A,E,D,A,E

i like the version on this video better but im just wondering why theyre different...

  • he finished on A watch it properly dude...

  • that wasnt the question

  • no you can't, the only 'modification' though, is the quickchange.

  • blues is anything u want if it sounds good thn do it jus learn the notes/scale an play how u feel this is blues baby

  • good answer :P i suppose youreright

  • come see me @ zekes guitar lessons for beginners#1

  • gracias amigo, aprendi rapido

  • Helpful man ;D

  • thank you so much man. all your lessons are completely awesome!

    keep it up!

  • awsome lesson! im a total guitar noob but i can play that now!

  • i like to play a hendrix chord at the end if its in A progression

  • WOO WOO hendrix

  • thanks for this lesson, i'm learning the harmonica and this is helping me understand the 12 bar blues better

  • Why is each movement named after the open string and not the string your actually fretting? Argh :@

  • because that is the bass note..

u can look at chord for instant..

the chord is named, by the base note..

for example G..the base note is on the third fret of the thickest string..which is the note G..

  • the open string is the root note (meaning that letter is the chord your playing)... the other fingers are just changing the additional notes that go with the (root note) chord

  • good instruction im a musician but not a string player and i picked up the guitar followed the lesson and im playing the blues a little rough but with practice ill get it. thanks

  • you're the man, thanks!

  • Dude, I'm making donations

    tik

  • thank you

    your videos are really informative

  • awesome justin thnxs but one question,at the end i dont understand how u finish it.

  • hey, to finish he is striking down once on the same chords that the progression starts off with, or on an "A."

  • Man you are a good teacher

  • I thought you were saying fuck those two strings.....

  • Justin you rock!

  • Brilliant lesson ...thanks

    (awesome lessons btw)

    bob

  • That was awesome, and painful to do as well.

  • lol shouldnt b painful

  • Apparently you've never played a guitar, or just forgot how it was to be a beginner. I've played for a year, mostly modern rock music. Learning the blues is painful even to someone with built up calluses like me.

  • hey you should try to not press down your left fingers as hard. =]

    hope that was some help

  • Thanks ,

I thought first it wasnt that easy but it is :D

  • thanks, but where can I find other chords I can use for blues, rather than just the fifth chords all the time?

  • Justin, I'm brand new to playing and this is the best beginner explanation for the 12-bar blues I've seen. Many accomplished musicians take for granted things that must be explained slowly to the raw beginner. Thank you so much.

  • THANKS!

  • thanks alot Justin......looked at a few....learning lots.

  • Not bad. Though I didn't learn anything new. Its so... basic. I'm gonna check your other stuff...
