Also, if you might considered using the end doors to support a deck, which could compensate the less cutting of the side wall, still a lot of light and air coming into the building. Or even more interesting to have interesting building elevation and a stronger structure to resist the tropical hurricane ! George Wu, AIA 2012-1-6
As an architect, I believed that the structural integrity of the container is destroyed the way the entire side of the container was cut out completely. Yes, you could do it with reinforcement, but it is not the understanding way to use the container. However , it does not have to be one end to end opening, which could still be done with two or more smaller openings, and it will also be lighter to close the glass opening with two or more decks. George Wu, AIA 2012-1-6
HELP me! I'm stuck trying to sell shipping container homes in Costa Rica! Please, I just want to go back to Wisconsin. Mom, Dad? I was really drunk, and she was so slutty looking. I swear I didn't know she was 14! PLEASE get me a lawyer, I'm willing to confess, go to jail, ANYTHING if I can just come home? ------ jim08816cr
P.S the guy that owns container homes, makes me dress as a girl. Mom, he is a BAD man.
If I was to hire you to install a house like this on my lot in Jaco area, what kind of building permit do I need to obtain? How costly is it going to be?
i thought of this yesterday and decided to youtube it to see is anyone else has thought of it, i am going to build one on my grandfathers land in BFNW kentucky i will have a garage and a basement and 2 floors above that.
Wow Jim , here in australia we use Bondor insulation 50 mm double aluminium sheet 1200 wide any height, They interloc, soild in t/sport aluminium angle around the tops , with 50 c channel on the bottom , We also use 100x 50 rhs for door ways and windows. Starting on a 30foot office next week roller door storage , about 26 feet inside, full electrics and internet, windows , sliding doors with roller shutters, going to video this from start to finish , hope you will see this when its on .cheers.
This is incredible in so many ways. Just right off skipping the whole Thoreau Walden concept and every philosopher on earth saying to be happy; simplify your life.
Many people, myself included, have to live on less and using already existing structures that can withstand awesome forces will make sure it is not a house made of straw so the wolf can't blow it down and the costs makes it very hard for Simon Legree to take it from us.
Awesome potential in so many ways. Thanks for a bit of hope.
hi sir , how can i contact with you about container houses to work to geather we have agood company in constarction work like this. hope to answer thanks
@rechargelife About 5 big companies are doing this , and getting units from overseas standard units only , but custom units are made here in austraila. I have been doing this for about 26 yrs now and doing this right now. Doing lots for mining and industries up north (WA) in the hot zone temps up to 60 degs .
@jim08816cr HI, How much does it cost for one room like this one? I like it.. the only thing is that i am concerned about is "RUST" part. second is in summer.. how hot does it get.. and in winter how cold does it take? do you have solar panels?
@TheGreenfrog140 you roast sweat like a pig and dont need a fridge in the winter walls and roof is r5 but we will include a free XL snuggie with every purchace.
hi sir / can you inform me the way that i can contact with you to have adeal about this work hope to cooperat with us and we are agood company for economic constractions this our e.mail to contact us (futureexp2010@gmail.com) hope to call us soon or send to us your web page or offers
They need to set a surplus cargo freighter aside and load it with converted shipping containers next time there is a disaster set sail to the area and provide instant housing for disaster crews whoever does this will make a billion dollars. If this is done right this could be set in industrial areas used reloaded for disasters.
If you are considering modular or prefab home, building with recycled shipping containers is worth taking a look at.
Good resource is the Residential Shipping Container Primer website. A SHOWCASE OF SHIPPING CONTAINER HOMES AND BUILDINGDS, AND A DO IT YOURSELF (DIY) REFERENCE FOR CONVERTING RECYCLED INTERMODAL CARGO SHIPPING CONTAINERS INTO BUILDINGS AND ARCHITECTURE.
Lots of great example buildings, details, facts, and links to other articles...

this is a perfect example of how we can house everyone. There are many shipping containers all over the world that just sit around and pile up. There should be some sort of project to make homes like this available to the poor and homeless.
When you sell these do you sell them an inexpensive price?
You are a thief. You are praying upon poor people for your own greed. These homes are crap. The shower stall and glass will mold within two years. If you've shipped these units built...and the moldings are falling. What will be happening to the drywall in a couple of years? They should put you in the safe so you can't criminalize the already poor people. ECO-Domes. You can house poor people for minimal costs. $1000 for simple units. What do you charge? $15 000? Thief. Tell your friends
@ShinobinoMono2469 how about research the actual video and send some questions directly to his website or leave them here instead of being so critical straight off the block... im sure that these homes are built to standards that would be held up by a building authority... furthermore, i would assume that 15,000 is reasonable as this does look quality.... sounds like someone was decieved by another person or company... or was it this company?
These units can rust if water collects on them in damaged areas. However they are maid from Corten steel that won't rust or corrode and is Mold resistant The Corten steel is used both inside and outside and is stronger than normal steel
to be honest what's safer then basically a giant safe for a home. those containers are build like rocks. probably would be hard to steal from a giant steel container
very interesting

wouldn't it have been better to design that drop wall as a roof/awning to protect from sun and rain??
i mean, Costa Rica after all.
just saying.

@gljohnson33 Actually we thought of that but the weight is too much. We install awnings instead.
