My first 'bigtime' rock concert in 1976, it was Paris opening, then came Be Bop Deluxe followed by Golden Earring it was great! The Paramount Theatre in Portland Oregon.
This album was 10 years ahead of its time... 1st Paris album, was heavy guitar stuff and cool too, but this was a step ahead. Hunt Sales is great on this, just yelling and screaming in the background on lots of the songs, like this one.
Pepperidge Farm remembers. Remember sipping lemonade underneath a shady tree? Remember when you hit that pedestrian with your car at the crosswalk and then just drove away? Pepperidge Farm remembers, but Pepperidge Farm ain't just gonna keep it to Pepperidge Farm's self free of charge. Maybe you go out and buy yourself some of these distinctive Milano cookies, maybe this whole thing disappears. Then the fish appeared and all hell broke loose. Gawd, help us. Oh, the pedestrian dies. What fun.
@PaulInOakland you have the album? i bought it in 1976, then after it was stolen in '78 they said it was a "cutout" and don't make it anymore. i would buy it again if i could...
@rdt10458 NO!!! are you serious?? when mine was stolen back in '78, they told me it was a "cutout" and no longer made it!! oh cool, i would replace it in a heartbeat!!
@brakedrummerz I was at the He & She club too and saw Paris play their first album twice through for that show. I also saw and met Cheap Trick there before they got their first album recorded.
@sundance4400 oh damn you!!! lol, mine was stolen back in '78, and when i went to replace it, the guy told me that it was a "cutout" and they didn't make it anymore.
Mick Fleetwood used to say that Bob Welch was the secret weapon that saved Fleetwood Mac after the departures of Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer and this, Bob's post-Mac band proved it in spades. Their first album was metallic ; this one was funkier. The addition of Hunt Sales to the band was a nice ingredient to the stew. It's a drag, though, that the band only lasted a little over a year. With slow-burning tracks like this, who knows what they could have accomplished had they stuck around.
We listened to this in California 1976 in the Upland police chiefs' sons bedroom while hitting a bong made from PVC pipe. This and Lou Reed "Rock and Roll Animal".
I thought I would never hear this again for the rest of my life. I had both Paris albums back in the '70s. I've got their first album on CD but haven't been able to find "Big Towne, 2061" yet.
Big Town THX for posting. To be able to reconnect with a few songs from this album before I get on the blue spaceship is an absolute pleasure. Lyrics that sound good are more important than lyrics that make sense. " Apple juice..... in an endless groove..........." Mucho gratitude. {don't get on the red spaceships.}
I find it incredible nobody has commented on this song. My best friend in high school turned me on too this band back in 1976 livin west side Houston Texas, Jimmy Mcnellis..

Where did you get "guitar" Hunt Sales? Soupy's son was the drummer! Saw them at the He and She Club in Milwaukee, WI in 1976

I still have the Lp. I heard "Outlaw Band" on the radio once and had to have the song. This song off the Lp was a nice bonus. Summer 1976.
