@mad4drpepper yea, m15x would probably be a good choice. it's relatively sturdy , but it is heavy and the battery life is not very good. the thing is that if you need a lot of graphics power you really limit your options if you alway want the computer to be tough. I suppose you could look at something like the thinkpad T or W series, but those are not specifically gaming computers. that said, they will stand up to drops, bumps, and dust/sand better than an alienware. hope that hopes a bit

@stef979 4GB ram should be fine. If you care about DX11, and cost, go for the 5850. I would say the 260M has better performance (Hence the higher cost). Processor, 620m would slow you down pretty badly. I would go for the 840qm or 940xm

@stef979 740qm, that should be alright. But don't expect to be able to max a bunch of games with a constant frame rate. Still a good processor though. And again, like I said, it depends what type of gaming you are going for. DirectX 11, or higher clock rates, etc.....Personally, I wen't for the 260m, and its GRRRRRR-EAT!.....however, if you wan't, you can go to eBay, and purchase a ATI 5870......your choice.

@stef979 You can always upgrade the processor in it, as long as its in the 20qm/40qm series for i7......I've done it myself. But, if you're going for the 840qm, you'll have no need at all to upgrade your processor. It's an awesome one......just know that it IS a little tricky to upgrade. 2 plate screws, 4 ram cover screws, 4 fan and heatsink screws, 4 screws where the battery usually is, and 6 screws for the actual CPU....no biggie though. Hope that helps.
