@tunalik Is that just an outside-of-the-states thing? I'm in Canada, and gave up annoying people by saying "That's not a Jeep, it's a (whatever)" as a kid. Toyota Land Cruisers were popular then, but you wouldn't have known it. Everything four-wheel-drive seemed to be considered a Jeep! Go figger.

I know this is 9 months late but Jeep is a word that describes a "smaller size vehicle thats capable of driving offroad" or as the military called it, "All purpose Vehicle"

The word originated in world war 2 when the military needed a "All purpose vehicle", a company that now makes the jeep made vehicles that the military came to call Jeeps.

So its also a word that mostly Europeans like myself use to describe a certain kind of a vehicle :)

well its not a "Jeep" , but in the icelandic language the word for a 4X4 is jeppi whist is originated from the original willy's jeep, so when most icelanders talk of 4x4 in English they call them jeep, so if you are looking at some icelandic videos of 4x4, ether in Formula off-road or glacier bashing and there are fords and toyotas, try to remember that its not that they dont know the car types its just a languages thing, but most of the formula off-road cars/buggyes are originally Jeeps.
