Actually a similar tune can be found in the fairy caves in Link to the Past, as well as some other Zelda games. There are slight differences, though. And I am NOT a Zelda N00b.

This tune is in both SMB3 (World 3, AKA Water World) and in most Zelda games ( (Great) Fairy springs and File select screens).

Although the Zelda versions sound i bit different, they closely resemble eachother.

When you tune it it changes the intensity of the fields usd to play it. You have to set it properly or it will not sound right.
