  • thank you so much for your video. I have a very long haired golden doodel that is a shaggydoodel. At a $100 a cut I'm going to try gromming him myself. (after watching a few videos.lol.

  • No, I'm in Virginia and I do my own grooming, so it wasn't my Sully :)

  • Where are you located because I saw a dog yesterday at a groomers in Nw Jersey Petco that looked like yours and his name was Sully

  • Thank you so much for the clipper recommendations. Your video was extremely helpful, I probably wouldn't attempt to do it myself but having your videos makes me think I can do it. Plus, I figure he can't end up much worse than he did coming from Petsmart, and with practice I'll be able to get a cut I like. Will their hair keep growing and HAVE to be cut or will it stop at a certain length? I love the way it looks long but seems impossible to keep from matting.

  • It is just hair, and will grow back so give it a try! The hair will grow all their life, and need to be groomed regularly. The hair on their face, ears and tail grows slower than the hair on their body, so I leave that longer. Even with the body clipped shorter, they keep that doodley look if the face is a little longer, so make sure you keep those areas brushed. Also, bathing cuts the water repellent oil from the coat and helps prevent mats. Once you have mats, adding water sets them in.

  • Thank you so much for the videos. I took my goldendoodle to petsmart and they butchered him! I promised I'd never let his coat get matted like that again, of course it's nearly impossible to do so I think I need to invest in some grooming tools and take it on myself so I can learn how to do it the way I like him to look. Do you use the 3 3/4 blade by itself, without a "comb"? Is that the longest blade you can get? Thanks again!

  • Yes, I use it without a comb. There is a longer blade 5/8. If you have mats, neither of those will get under them. Be sure to get good clippers, not the home hair kind, but real animal clippers. I like the Andis AG2.
