I just saw them last night in Houston, Texas and the place went absolutely "nut-shit" when they did this song. The band is pretty much sedate in this video compared to the runaway locomotive that they are live. One of the best "pure" American rock bands that I have ever seen! I don't see why everyone keeps comparing Craig Finn to Springsteen. If anything, I hear a huge Husker Du influence in his lyrics and guitar playing. Well, what can I say? I like the way Muse songs shift gears and move into different styles.That must be why there are more than one or two bands,to accomodate all taste.I personally like everything from Linkin Park, to Panic at he Disco, to Flyleaf and Evanesence I'm sure that the Hold Steady would sleep just fine at night, even if they KNEW that they just don't excite me that very much. I don't think they are bad.I try not to criticize others music, because it (should be) an expression of self.

Well the shifting gears and styles things is pretty much what prog rock was about. Having been a punk in 1976 I suppose I will never like all mouth and no trousers bands like Muse. There are indeed bands for all tastes, but if your taste is for a band like Muse maybe you aren't setting your sights very high. I'd rather listen to any old Yes album personally, as an expression of self it's a lot less embarassing.
