I'll probably vote Dem, and maybe Obama can stem our downward spiral, but I'm unconvinced that someone without real world experience, failing and then succeeding in some really difficult problems will be able to have much of a positive impact in the long run. He'll be learning on the job after 8 years will be much more effective. I hope there won't be too many scenes like Hillary's healtcare proposal, he'll lose credibility too quickly and he may lose his mandate for smart change.

You are incorrect about surplus. Clinton's last budget surplus (FY2001) was not even CLOSE to a half trillion (and even at its height, the greates surplus was only a quarter trillion), and the surplus was wiped out after that by two factors beyond Bush's control: 9/11, and the recession that began in 2000 under Clinton.
As to SS "raiding," also no. This has always happened just as much under every President, and it actually makes SS *more healthy.* This is a fact. SS earns guaranteed interest.

The other items, debt and housing and unemployment nand jobs, are all cyclical, and the result of decades of nonpartisan U.S. policy. Obama could not change any of them except by cutting spending drastically, which he won't do. And no one can say OBL would've been caught under any other President.
And Obama wants to violate the Constitution even more, by ignoring our 10th Am. rights (and the 2nd). What part of "powers not delegated are reserved to the states or the people" does he not get?

If you want to argue PARTIES, fine, we can do that, and then recognize the fact that the Democrats supported the war almost totally. Else, we should look at McCain, and note that the surge, which worked, was what he wanted to do from the beginning, and would have saved many lives.
Second, you cannot point to Afghanistan and show me where we do not have enough resources because of Iraq, so it's a false argument.

With his dementia (and yes it's clearly dementia) compounded by his low intellect, graduated 894 out of 899 from the naval academy, he has marched in lockstep with Bush partisanship. No independent thinking whatsoever, please point out where he differs with Bush on any substantial issue.

I defy you to give a single example where McCain has changed. Don't say "tax cuts" because his position on the tax cut was largely context-dependent, and today is a different economic situation.

While I respect his POW experience, He has repeatedly voted AGAINST veteran benefits, even though he receives 100% Disability payments from the Navy.
He is against Social Security, but gets a SS check every month.
I don't think he's capable to run the country...IMO.

I don't care if he's black. Everyone starts the same in my eyes. Why exactly does being a POW and veteran qualify you to preside over civil matters? I don't have much confidence in McCain's militaristic ability in the first place, graduating so low in his Anapolis class, and war is not the only job of the president (unless you want a that sort of state). I also beg to differ on Senator Obama's intellegence. Being President of the Harvard Law Review is no act of mediocrity.

Being that I don't live in Illinois, I would like to know how exactly Obama screwed over your state. Perhaps it should be a greater point of interest in this election. And don't worry, I'm not a closed minded troll. You may very well convince me. It's just that, with present information considered, I find McCain a blathering old fool, a puppet of the oil and drug industry, while Obama seems an optimist who makes more sense to me as a progressionist.

McCain may be a veteran, but now he's primarily a shortsighted, self-obsessed bureaucrat. Case in point: McCain voted against the VA outpatient care increase and veterans' medical service assistance, he tabled an amendment to provide soldiers with sufficient vests/tents/helmets, and has missed no less than a dozen votes on Iraq. Further, McCain, by his own modern definition was not "tortured"...today it would just be referred to as "intelligence gathering". That's McSame's "Double Talk Express"!

I see where you're coming from sith, but Obama has more experience than any President in recent history. More than G.W., more than Bill Clinton, more than Ronald Reagan, I could go on. As a senator for nearly twelve years Obama has a deeper understanding of policymaking/fostering than any Governor could possibly have. Further, Obama's accomplished more in his tenure and with better judgment as U.S. Senator than McCain has in more than 20 years. Just check out the Thomas section of the LoC.

great he can make all the policy he wants to as a senator, right now we are voting a president who's job it will be to conduct not only THIS war, but any possible ones with Iran,Korea, and possibly Russia if this whole Georgia thing escalates. So a policy-maker is NOT what we need right now, maybe if it's died down in 4 years THEN he'll be ready, but definitely not now. Obama doesn't even outdo ME in combat experience, which is what he needs TODAY
