i have no idea what's going on here..but u look like a girl from another time..did u learn all this from your grandgrandma? but i have to admit your hairstyles..your old fashon dresses and you are very pretty..
You have the pefect start to one in this video. What were called french rolls in the past are now called petal curls, which is the exact style you do here, only petal curls lay flatter, similar to pin-curls, as you know! Hope you try it out! Thanks for your videos!
I like you videos! You do a beautiful job with your finishing techniques and pinning. You have the perfect light touch. I just want to offer information about victory rolls. The orignal Victory roll has all the the hair styled into two french rolls on each side of the head joining to form a clean point at the nape forming a large "V" shape, hence it's name.
@xGunMoll Use a bit of hair just past the bangs along WITH the bangs to help build volume and length to work with. I suggest using a little product to grip the two lengths together and just carefully roll it up. You might have stray hairs come down, but carefully blend the strays back into the victory roll and spray with hair-spray. It takes a nit of patience, but you can do it :)
i've been growing out my bangs for a while now, they're about level with my lips now. My hair is also much thicker than yours. Do I need to grow my hair out longer still?
@LetsGetPlastic I dunno, my hair is pretty thick! lol! At lip level, you have a good chance at being able to do it... you just might have to fiddle with it a bit. Give it a try, I think there's good possibility :)
I love this style and love vinatge hair styles. I havent watched a lot of your videos, so im not sure if you have done this or not... but have you done like a vintaged curled hair video..? I dont know if you will know what i mean.. but its kinda like how your hair is curled now. Did you use rollers or a curling iron?
@polkadotpolka123 I don't think you need a *certain* length, but I think chin-shoulder length hair makes it a little easier! I've seen gals with super long hair just twist the hair at the base and pin in place, allowing the rest of the hair to just drape behind the victory-roll, you might want to try that :)
I love all the things you post on your blog and such and now I found you have a youtube channel too. man I am totally behind. Thing is though. . this is more of a pompadour rather than victory roll. Victory rolls specifically created a V for victory . . one on each side of the head. I have a couple Victory Roll style tutorials to show. Anyway this was the first of yours I saw and now I'm going to browse a bit!!!! +Victoria+
Pompadours are much fuller and tend to be more at the bang area... I think everyone has a different perception of the terms, but nothing is too "fixed" to refer to :)
Thank you doll, for all of your support and following my blog and videos! Love ya!
I love all of your videos, so I've decided to subscribe!! However my hair is the most disobedient hair in the world and whatever I try it refuses to do it. It'll do things by accident though, just to frustrate me!!
I just found your videos the other day and i can't stop watching them! You'r so adorable and you're tips are sooo good! I'm STILL trying to get the hang of the victory roll but i'm determind to get it right! Thank you! Consider me a fan! <3
I have tried watching many different videos to learn victory rolls, but this is the first one that actually taught me how. Thanks so much!! You're great!
Thanks again Aya! I credit you with getting me started with the vintage styles. I have had a lot more practice now, but love watching your videos for reminders. I aways seem to pick up something new. You really are the best. Keep up the good work! :0)
you are fantastic! i'm going to be starting cosmetology school, and am trying to get an edge on my classmates (and well i love glamourous ladies too) you are such a jem and have so much to share. keep it up, you inspire us!
Thank you, dear! It's a bit half and half.. Sometimes I am a little lazy and just go with my natural straight hair, but even when I do wear my vintage hairstyles, I stick with the simpler styles just like brushed out pin curls with a "peek-a-boo" wave or a victory roll :)
Do people ever comment on the victory rolls? And do you ever feel self-conscience? You have a lot of guts. It's so gorgeous, but it's also old fashioned. And not what people are used to seeing.
With a simple victory roll, I get a little attention, but nothing severe. I suppose I usually mix extreme elements with non-extreme elements to balance my ensembles? Such as, if my hair is quite unique, I mix it with a laid back outfit and visa versa. I also try to hold myself with confidence, because I truly believe people base their impression of you according to your confidence level :) But so far, no one has ever criticized my looks, although I am quite sure it's not everyone's "cup of tea".
I'd imagine it's not everyone's cup of tea. But I think it's absolutely gorgeous. It's a shame hairstyles like this aren't more common anymore. I think girls from way back then are so much prettier then today's ladies -- my sister said it's probably because they're more put together, more well groomed. The victory curl is the perfect example of that I think.
Wow, I feel like I've stumbled onto a goldmine with your videos! I really love vintage hairstyles and fashions, but never know how to achieve the look. I found your channel just looking for the popular heidi braid, but you have so many pretty tutorials!
I always love your tutorials, but I'm really struggling with victory rolls working on my hair! It's curly/wavy and slightly shorter at the front on both sides - but the main problem I have is that I can never seem to be able to do any rolls other than pomp/faux fringe-type ones - where am I going wrong? Any tips? Thanks lovely! x
I think it's mainly just awkward at first... and there are days I have trouble too, and just give up that particular day. Maybe try a different angle to refresh your skills? I bet you are doing just fine :)
Wow!!! You look soo good. You have a very cool style and you are pretty and very feminine. Ad to that a pair of excellent shaped biceps. What do you do to get those? You could do a bicep tutorial. And maybe flex your nice muscles for us once.
Anyhow you are the perfect combo. Pretty feminine retro girl, and on the other hand fit and totaly up to date.
Thank you... I think I've just always have not necessarily prominent muscles, but rather defined ones. My back and legs are the same way... I don't really work out, but being a mother I am active.
A: I'm sorry to decline, but it doesn't associate with my channel... I'm also very shy on the subject, so I don't think I will be making any flexing videos at this time.
obviously a lot of people noticed and asked.
I'm also a great fan of Aya and would love to see a flexing video
Erm... bangs do seem very difficult, and being able to do victory rolls are the only thing that has kept me from cutting my bangs! If I ever do cut my bangs, I would experiment with product and backcombing to make victory rolls... I have seen it done, but it looks hard!
Do you know how to do victory rolls and such with curly hair? My hair is crazy curly and I can't seem to make any vintage hairstyles work with it. :/ Should I just straighten it and try the hairstyles?
That sounds tricky! I would definitely experiment. Try pin curls... because you sleep in them, they will control your natural curl. Try straightening as well, like you said, just so you can learn what's best for you :)
you're goooooooooooooorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!

How can I do a victory roll for the bangs for someone with bangs such I myself?
My bangs are at the level of the tip of my nose.
