After the death of her son and husband, I think she went off the deep end somewhat and developed a really unhealthy attachment to Travis. While I don't condone keeping wild animals as pets and I firmly believe she was totally responsible for his actions, I do feel a tiny bit of sympathy, because I am very convinced she was not mentally well, and I hope in death, she's now at peace. I hope Charla continues to improve and that her life is full of wonderful happiness after all she's been through.

People Please have a heart. Travis was like a son to her, just got berserkly wild and mauled her bestfriend. All in all each of them where hurt. but im glad she did it for the best. Who knows? Maybe that monkey would have mauled/ hurt a couple more people if sandra didn't do what she had to do. Think about it. Losing your chimp that's like a son to you, you yourself killed it, and your bestfriend gets a whole new face, and not a nice one. But why did she have a pet like that? it still is wild.

Thus, the average chimanzee is more unpredictable and thus significantly more dangerous than an animal acting out of pure instinct, not just because it is stronger than a human.

everyone take it easy. shes comparing the two losses because travis was a part of her family. i love my dog like a child, and chimpanzees are so much more human like, shed find it difficult not to get attached. not to mention that her child and husband were both dead, making travis the only thing she had left. she must have cared about her friend to be able to stab him. however, i dont think its right to keep non-domesticated animals as pets...and here are the consequences.

This is why people shouldn't be keeping 'exotic' pets, or become attached to possibly dangerous animals to the point that you'll treat it like another human being and allow it to sleep in your bed. An animal is an animal and should be treated as such (in a humane manner, of course).
