Contempo-rock group here. and a god one at that, who's next?? Just shows the diversity of the UK Northern/rare soul scene over the years, I remember this from the Casino Oldies All-Nters...very reminiscent of Dianne Davidson - Sympathy.... another great tune, that I got to know many years later.
Just another classic track. We played it everywhere. Mecca/Wigan/Cleethorpes/Peterborough. I thinl mine was £1 from a lad with a pile of them at the Casino. Think Id heard it for 1st time 2 weeks b4 at Blackpool and it went down a storm. But remember it was everywhere. Even the Notts Palais dayers, Ritz/Goldmine/Purley.
@joecc6 if you mean what genre would you class this as it would be northern soul, as it says right at the beggining or soul, but if you ment anything else, i wouldn't know :)
This song, "the Mexican", "Bra", "love is the message" (instrumental), where required songs to be played for the huslters. If you knew what you doing you would be the last on the dance floor (as folks conceded your skills ) and the girl ultimately became your girlfriend.
This song can be found on the Stealin Home Lp. You can find all of their music on the net if you look hard enough. I have everything they did plus some.
You know what?! I believe this song was left off Babe Ruth's "Best of" CD - the only Babe Ruth album that's available at iTunes et al. According to All Music Guide this was their only charting American single. It was also a fave of the club music scene. Here's another old school AOR band that classic rock radio forgot all about. Seems like this is the only place to hear the music of Babe Ruth.
nick baby love music, inc. !!!!
