God, would someone please move that mike/music stand? The playing, as usual, is quite terrifying. I really liked his first solo album (never heard the second one) and most all the Tribal Tech stuff.
Willis seems painfully aware of the dynamics with which he plays. I think that awareness is indicative of musical maturity. I love all sorts of bass players, but you just don't see that sort of thing every day.
Got that right, very underrated. The only way to play like him is to use the very specific technique and setup he employs, which in my mind makes him a really unique and special talent....and as you said, he grooves more than any bassist alive and has some wonderful solo ideas as well. I wish he was more of a house-hold name.
