I used Windows Movie Maker...Add title or credits...title after the selected clip...enter text...edit title font and color...change background to black (you don't have to do this but i use black because when i use a projector on my screen it doesn't omit any color. you do need to figure out what color your background is)...change title animation...ticker tape...edit text font and color...change background color to whatever you picked previously so you don't see the bar around words.
if you need any more help let me know. the only thing is to not wait until the last minute to do this. I did this the day before i needed it at around 11:45pm. after a while everything just blurs together and that's why there are a few misspellings in this because I was tired and such.
At first no one was paying attention so we put some of the stage crew out in the audience the next night to get it started and then everyone started paying attention on the nights after that. I don't know if we will put people in the audience this week but the audience seemed to like it (and it gave us an extra 5min to fix our wireless mic problems).
Bah, is there a text version without reading this scroller? ;)

HOW did you make this scrolling text? What software, hardware? I need to do something like this for a party and I can't figure out how.

Well done. Some type-Os. How was the crowd response? Were they paying attention?
