  • oneday im gonna make nikujaga for my my future japanese husband

  • love this

  • Another thing is if u cankt find dashi(I went to my local health food store) I used seaweed gomasio it worked alright in the place of dashi good luck!! I loved this recipie ^_^

  • i for one love japanese food and i was excited when my friend showed me this recipie one catch im a vegan. Lucky for me here in the US its easier to find meat replacements. I usually use tempeh steamed for 25 min then i use it in the recipie if u can't find tempeh or dont like it there is a company thatm akes beefless tips(vegan). You can use that in replace and instead of soy sauce I use braggs liquid aminos. so for those vegetarians/vegans who would love to try this those are some ideas

  • I want the doggie.YOu're puppy is sooooo cute.

  • their veggies looks sooo beautiful!

  • OMG

I tried Nikugaji with Eye of Round..

Well I think I should've used rump round

Do I have to use Rumpround?

  • these bloody ads upfront annoy me!

  • TheUmoregi!

Please stop such a childish joke in public. You may disgrace the image of japan.

Many people in the world are enjoying this cooking. Be more mature!

  • Chopsticks........... the ultimate cooking tool

  • SHIMMER

  • One might say the potatos are overcooked, but actually, most of the potatoes in japanese dishes are supposed to be rather soft.

Conclusion, the potatoes are not "overcooked", because they are intended to be like that, like rea~lly soft.

Well, if you don't like them like that, all you have to do is to add them later so they won't cook so much. isn't it?

  • @mayuun

    TRUE STORY SIS.

    *HIGH FIVE*

  • lol hai ay am de host of de sho, cuking with dog.....lol i love the doggy host!!!

  • うまそうううううう

  • She does soooo much amazing stuff on just that one little burner! :D

  • @derengrey Well, it is a one pot dish.

  • potatoes are overcooked...

  • @tysa888

And you make the rules about how potatoes are supposed to be cooked all over the world?

  • Looks good. Though I hate coocked onion

  • Mmmmmmmmm

  • for people who think they r cooking the dog r mistaken it says cooking "with" dog not cooking "the" dog

  • What type of beef do you use for this dish? Can I use extra lean stew type beef or should I take a rib eye steak and cut it into thin strips?

  • @flipone01 That wasn't beef O_O

  • @joshua61991 LMFAO HELICOPTER Kunf-fu kick to the face....The title says beef, and the recipe clearly states beef.

  • u could have named it

    CookingwithFrancis

  • what's dashi?

  • @Tauchp

[Dashi] is a class of soup and cooking stocks considered fundamental to Japanese cooking

    Basic of Japanese food.

Made by boiling konbu (edible kelp) or katsuobushi (bonito flakes).

    former is Konbu-Dashi , Latter is Katsuo-Dashi.

  • whats mas mean in japanese

  • @arsnel366 it literally means "meat and potatoes"

  • 肉じゃがは日本で大人気の大衆料理です。

    スープをたっぷり吸い込んだジャガイモの味は最高です!

    --

Nikujaga is the popular and famous cuisine in Japan.

The taste of potatoes that absorbed the soup is fabulous!

  • OMEDETOO!!! SUGOI DESU!!!

  • i made this tonight and substituted dashi stock for chicken soup and used regular crap cooking wine LOL. tasted sooo good! the potatotes were sooo yummmmy!

  • LMAO the dog is so random.

  • this made me hungry "Lunch"

    これは私が"昼食を空腹"した

  • thk u

  • i really want to make this one ! it's looks healthy ne!~ i want it badly !~ XD

  • haha i'm always scared for the dog. i'm thinkin that its fur might catch fire!!! -_-

  • About how much beef is called for in the recipe? It looks like about 200g or 250g. Does it have to be a very fatty cut or can a lean cut of beef also be used?

  • except for dashi, all of these ingrediants are easily found in north america

  • I'll cook this tonight :) healthy and tasty ! Just the way I like it !!!

  • is it necessary to use potatoes? I'm deathly allergic to them :/

  • @CamuiVanilla although nikujaga recipe calls for potatoes......you can substitute them with other vegetables......

  • hontoni tasukarimashita...arigatou gozaimasu...^_^

  • Is the beef always so beautiful and delicious looking in japan i wonder? And do they use tomatoes in any dishes? never saw a tomatoe in any video here.

  • I don't see tomatoes very often either, but I've seen ketchup in a lot of recipes, if that counts =P

  • they used tomato in the"how to make hamburg steak" video.

  • lol! Even tho Im not a man, 1CME90 is right, they are always serves two, and I have to cook for my family of four! lol

  • This looks good but it never seems to be enough. I need a man size meal, not some little bowl of meat and vegetables.

  • @1CME90 then take a bigger bowl :P

  • that's why americans are so fat

  • Seriously, all Japanese food is some variation of soy sauce dashi and mirin.

  • kono shokujin wa oishii o miru!!!

  • Ohhh that looks sooooo good

  • Can I use chicken instead? I don't eat beef nor pork?

  • @MelodiaSeira I think so, because nikujaga translates to "meat and potatos". I've seen people use beef and pork before o.o

  • @MelodiaSeira I've done it with chicken, it's pretty good.

  • @MelodiaSeira

chicken instead version is so good, too!

    and, more healthy than beef.

  • @novagazer true so true! I'm not much of a beef eater or chicken or any meat.. but both chicken and beef look delicious.!

  • this looks delicious!

  • Is cooking Sake the same as sake?

  • @MelodiaSeira It's like the difference between cooking wine and wine. You can cook with both, but you probably don't want to drink the cooking variety straight.

  • can you use mirin with this?

  • D: i've never tried making any of these but every time i watch a video i get motivated to go out for japanese x_x

  • ma tumme is rumbling *rummble

  • @offramp100 Since when have the japanese been known for eating dogs? fool

if you're going to insult someone at least get your facts straight.

  • I always make this recipe and it is a big hit with my boyfriend ( a nissei) and my other American friends. A beef stew that is very quick to cook.

  • Ah! Another Variation of Beef Stew! Looks yummy!

  • With what can you accompany this? White rice?

  • @vinheimk It can be eaten with rice or just without rice :D

  • I do not like fish. Can I make dashi without fish flavor? Arigataou gozaimashita!

  • there is also shiitake dashi (made from shiitake mushrooms) if you don't like the flavour of fish.<
