@3LOADED Thank you! ... I love creating new looks for people.. and for me too! :) Thank you for commenting. The delicate layers in her angled bob flowed so beautifully in her hair. ... I always flow with the texture and growth patterns... Got to do it if you want the Client to be able to work with her own hair. :) ... Find me on facebook. Sincerely, Sharon Sovinski
omg, this was the greatest haircut I've ever seen. I really want to get it but I'm not sure how it would look on me. Though, my biggest concern is my mother's reaction, since she's very conservative (even in hair preferences). I really want it though. I'm just not sure, I've been growing my hair for some time now, I don't know what to do....
Judging from your video you are both very skilled and indeed a perfectionist (the greatest quality a hairdresser could have!) when it comes to the bob hairstyle. So would you mind if I bothered you for some advice? I've had my hair bobbed for the past 2 years, and I can never seem to get it right. I want that classic cute china-doll bob, but it always comes out super straight and super SUPER flat...
@HumanoidSparky (sorry, couldn't fit it all in one post ) I have very fine hair, but I always thought having shorter hair meant more volume. Apparantly not. It's all the one length at the moment, and up to my chin, and it just looks awful. I try curling it under, but it always looks flat and there's absolutly no volume in the back. Would layers kick up the volume? Or would layering it stop it from looking so classic? How did those gals in the 60's do it? Is there some kind of trick i'm missing?
Right now I have a bob that's short in the back then gets longer to the front cut and like half inch below my neck, how would it grow exactly and do I have to cut it again so it can grow evenly?
@bonnieridd You are very rude!!! I think the stylist did a great job and is very beautiful the way that God made her she is natural!! Piss off and have a nice day
I went for a longer version of that cut a couple of days ago..my face is longer and my head is narrow. Anyway..all I have is hanging hair with no movement. Nothing is chipped away at the bottom. I have the most thin hair but I feel like there is still a way to achieve this look without losing TOO much hair. I don't know where to go from here without worrying I am going to have even MORE hair just cut off SHORTER......................
you are a very talented hairdresser , i could watch your vids all day :) i am just coming back into hairdressing after a few years out and watching you is just fab x
WAtching this I just wanna say something, you should be famous. Your skill just amazing. I did my first classic bob on my first airline interview. Bob hairstyle is fun and easy to maintain. Thanks for uploaded this video it is great. Well done.
@winnemio Thank you! I SHOULD BE FAMOUS!! lol... I'd LOVE that!! ;-) Well, Elle Magazine did an editorial on me as one of the Top Ten Masters of Makeovers... and W magazine did one on Top Trendsetting Salons. So, I suppose I am "famous"... however, rumor has it that famous people are the last ones to know they are. :-) Thank you for commenting! You've made me smile! Cheers to you! ;-)
How long does it typically take to do a cut like this? I work at a place that specializes in cutting and they want us to average 14 - 18 minute cuts but I want to do beautiful work like this.
@meka503 If you have decided with the Client on the SHAPE you are creating, and KNOW the growth patterns and texture... then you should be able to create a cut within that time frame. I'd definitely use an excellent leave-in conditioner to help you glide easily through the cut. However, don't rush... CERTAINTY is what gives one speed. Speed is only speed for speed sake. Just learn your skills and KNOW first what you are about to do before you do it!! Smiles at ya!! Enjoy!
@lachase1 Thank you! I definitely consider myself first and foremost and Artist! (I was taken out of Art School and put into Beauty School)... so Creating Beauty IS MY ART and has been now for 25 years! Thank you for commenting. You made me smile!! :-)!!

@believesmile1 Thank you!! I own and operate out of the My Bella Color Studio which is located in Burbank, CA. Feel free to make an appt! OMG! Sharon you are an amazing artist! Your cutting style and technique is the TRUTH! That is slang for you are the BOMB! lol I am a stylist as well. I'm always looking to learn and I must say you make the cut look smooth and easy. Thanks!
@mzfawn Awesome! Thank you so very much for commenting! We fellow Stylists need to always support one another and learn from one another! It is great you enjoy my videos and find within them skills you can take with you! Feel free to find me on fb. :-) Happy Hair Cutting and Happy Hair Coloring!
Sharon you're a natural! I wish there were more hair designers with your natural ability to create amazing hairstyles and awesome color! I find that talented colorists and designers are rare these days. I do have two questions. In your video; I noticed that your client has a nice straight hairline in back. How would you suggest cutting a nape that grows into a (ducks tail?) - AND - Do you think this hairstyle is suitable for a client with a fuller face and a nape that grows into a ducks tail?
@scryingeyes As you cut the duck tail allow the hair to flow inward, and then gentle comb it down. DO NOT pull against it. Just allow the hair to organically move INTO your shape. :-) And yes, if the hair is left longer around the face, then it CAN change a round face into a more heart shaped face. Just don't do short bang as this will make the round cheeks look too "cheeky". Perhaps a side part, and a longer front edge. :-)
This is the first video I've watced where I feel I learned something.. I'm still honing in on my skills and you're video was a bit of an eye opener for me.. I really appreciate having a video to watch that isn't SO step-by-step, but still allows you to observe.. Beautiful! I'll try this cut out tomorrow :) Mannequin head if I have to
@AlanaMBryant Great! I love it when Cosmetology Students learn from my videos! This means MORE great hair created! And everyone deserves to LOVE their hair cut! So happy you are learning! Keep it up!! And feel free to find me on fb. :-)
i wish i had a hair stylist like you! just by watching part 1 and part two of this video, you deffinitely take your time out to get that perfected look. in places i've been, the haircut would have been done within a few seconds lately it seems like all the stylists i come across aren't really cautious when it comes to cutting hair. you do a really good job very precise & i love how yu take yur time out like that instead of just snipping really quick with the scissors
@ninalynxoxo Thank you! I am pleased you see my intention and attention to detail. :-) Whenever I shape hair I allow the natural growth patterns and natural texture to move. I've been described as an Organic Hair Stylist... meaning that I allow the hair to BE as IT IS within the shape I am creating. I can tell you that my cuts always make my Clients very very happy. ...What I make look so easy, I hear, isn't so easy for others. Therefore, it's my pleasure to share my videos. Thank you! :-)
@classicstyleguru Thank you! I love the classic looks too! perhaps something shoulder length and wavy, but with luscious golden blonde tones that would make Kim Bassinger crave? :-)
@MultiCoolgirl96 Without seeing you, I would suggest that you find a great hair cutter in your area and ask for a complimentary consultation. If you love this layered angled bob hair cut, then I suggest you ask the Stylist to watch this video before your consultation or during the consultation. I wish you were local to Los Angeles! I'm more than happy to create custom hair cuts for new clients looking for a change of hair style!! :-) Thank you for writing! Good luck!
@wvmomoffour Thank you so much for commenting. I am pleased that the hair cutting videos available to view online here are helping so many Stylists learn different hair cutting techniques! My pleasure to share! Thank you again for writing. :-)
@mrssmith0718 The one good thing about hair is that it grows back long again if so desired. BUT, you really do need to decide if a layered angled bob is what you really want before you sacrifice your length. I vote - GO FOR IT! if you have been wanting a change for quite some time! If it's a whimsical thought, then perhaps think it over before you cut off many inches. You can also have several great styles if you take your hair shorter one hair style at a time. Have fun!
excellent vid! if you have any suggestions on good dvds to buy or classes to attened please let me know-- i feel like im getting NO real edjucation at my beauty school but im in too deep to switch schools....lol so here i am on youtube trying 2 edjucate myself!! : (
@InKedAnGeL21 Thank you! I am pleased you are enjoying my hair cutting and hair coloring videos here on youtube. I have a DVD "Panels & Chunks" that I created after Elle Magazine rated me as one of the Top Ten Masters of Makeovers. I HAD TO SHARE what I was doing, so I made the DVD. I am also preparing the Studio for in-house educational seminars in 2011. I'll be notifying subscribers once the dates and classes are set. Plus, I'll make more videos too! If you'd like the DVD message me. :-)
@MyBellaColorStudio I HAVE to know where to get that DVD!! im 2 weeks away from finishing school and I cannot tell you how much your videos have helped me along the way! or how many times i have watched them! I think you are amazing to say the least, and I hope to become even half the stylist that you are! and to inked angel21 you are not alone feeling a lack of education because I am feeling the same way and like I said I only have 2 weeks left!
@InKedAnGeL21 Beauty school is really is just for getting licensed, learning about sanitation and disorders. The real learning is in salons and from other talented students. Maybe some basics.
@InKedAnGeL21 omg i so know how u feel,i am not happy with my hair dressing school either :( and i am also in too deep to switch and im on you tube trying to learn as much as i can lol
i knoe u get this ? alot but i am black and i want to do all races hair. What advice could you give me when dealing with caucasion person and their hair. Also do you truly love being a cosmotologist and please relay any advice that you can about the businessm Email me if you prefer. I don't care how long the message is :) lit26
so talented! i don't suppose you ever visit panama city, FL?? or maybe you know someone here? i've tried a LOT of salons here, and every one seems to be worse than the last!! i'm from long island, spoiled w/ great hairdressers LOL
@giglet1959 Thank you. :-) From time to time I do get to FL to visit my family. And yes, when I am there, I do hair! :-) I completely understand not being able to find a great Stylist who can really cut hair well. One thing I always tell others who are too far away to get to me is to find someone whose hair they LOVE and ask who does it. My own family resorts to this when I am not around. :-) Smiles right back at you! And do let me know if you ever get out this way too!! :-)
@kcalica05 Yes, I own and operate within the My Bella Color Studio. We are located in Burbank CA. You can check out the web site at My Bella Color Studio dot com.
@februaryfest This layered angled bob hair cut will work great a bit longer. It will also work with curly hair. One thing to keep in mind is that the curls should not be pulled too tight while being cut. If the curls are allowed to rest as they do, as it is being shaped, then the resulting shape will look fabulous. IF you want to wear it straight too - then after the curls are cut into place - it should be blown straight and detailed without pulling.
@Lashuanprettyboy3000 Thank you for commenting. This Layered Angled Bob Hair Cut really does look pretty on the model. I'm always trying my best to keep up the good work. Happy you like it. :-)
@blest103 True enough. I use a Clean Cape for each Client. I was never one for having the bulk of a towel or the look of the sani strip. Thank you for commenting. :-)
the girl getting her hair cut didnt look too happy throughout that whole thing xD until the end at least xD very pretty cut i might get one done like that soon
@mleiws111 I noticed that too. She was listening to her friend talk to her as I was cutting her hair... and then when she sees her new hair cut... Voula - She's happy. Thank you for commenting. I hope you have had a chance to have your hair cut into a Layered Angled Bob. :-)
hi sharon, i love your work!! I am a training hairdresser, just wondering, (i have learnt the bob cut, or as we call it, "the classic bob"), and with the thinning razor thing, do you just take thin vertical sections and work your way around the whole head to give it the shape and layors? And, is it fairly simple to do that without training in it yet?? :P
@PhilTaylorPhotog Razors are not to be used as a "technical pattern" tool. Meaning, the razor is used to create the correct shapes into the hair. Consider it a carving tool! Once you get the feel of how your razor carves... consider the shapes you can carve. Meaning, don't simple just lift and razor - you must feel that hair and see how it needs to fall and whether or not the razor can make that happen. Think this over... and let me know your thoughts. I'm happy to assist. :-)
@MyBellaColorStudio mmmmmhm! Id work in that salon! google miavonni on my website thats me on front page or home page or what ever u call it LOL miavonni photography! Im also a stylist
Just like SarahWReiss below I'm getting my hair cut from long to a cute bob soon. I love this style but I've never had a fringe before, do you think it would work without a harsh fringe but a sweep? (a la Rihanna??)
Just like SarahWReiss below I'm getting my hair cut from long to a cute bob soon. I love this style but I've never had a fringe before, do you think it would work without a harsh fringe but a sweep? (a la Rihanna??)
@KIdDpurPLeJUnkiEe Yay!! Super exciting!! let's stay in touch as I love to help educate and share my knowledge with fellow artists!! Congrats on deciding to get your Cosmetologist License!! :-) Keep it up and whenever you have questions message me! :-)
I love this haircut i have hair that's a little past my shoulders and i want to get this cut i love it you did an amazing job !!!! my natural color is like the model and i wanna put in in highlights what colors would you recommend doing i know i wanna do more than 1 color highlight in my hair
i love the colour and cut! im thinking of getting my hair cut to a similar style, i have dark brown hair, would these highlights work? what tones did you use? :)
@TheNinidancer If your hair is naturally dark brown then a soft ash brown could be added to your hair as well as this soft neutral blonde. I use color to create my colors and bleach to create my highlights. However, the use of a purple shampoo can work wonders on maintaining the softer woodsy tones. If your hair is previously colored, please write me a message so I can explain in more detail how to achieve this type of hair coloring on previously colored dark brown hair. :-) Sincerely, Sharon
@TheNinidancer Thank you. I used color to create the soft ash brown in her medium brown hair. I used bleach to create the highlights. Please note not all highlights go to the scalp. This is intentional to create flowing highlights. if your hair is previously colored to dark brown, note that color will not lighten color. This means you need to write me a message so I can assist you further. If your hair is natural then I would use an ash light brown as well as bleach for the highlights.
I'm changing my style from long and blah to exactly this cut. It was great to see what goes into the cut. Watching the video gave me more information with which to explain my needs to my own stylist. Thanks! Can't wait to watch more of your videos!
@SarahWReiss Thank you so much! Happy my video has helped you find the new hair cut you want, as well as provide you with information you need to describe it to your Hair Stylist. I would suggest you have your Stylist watch this video if it is possible. :-) Thank you again, and do let me know how your new hair style looks. :-)
@metallica1694 Thank you for writing. I am not aware of the name of Jennifer Anistons bob hair cut.... I only name my cuts so that the videos here have a name. :-) Thank you for the compliment on this cut. I love designing custom cuts!! :-)
hi sharon! i am a stylist as well & i just wanted to say that i LOVE watching your videos, you really inspire me & motivate me! i am still fairly new, only about a year & a half in to be exact, & sometimes i get really frustrated with myself but after watching any of your videos it really makes me want to go do some hair and become like you! just out of curiousity, about how long did it take you to become this comfortable and talented? do you do any special training or what exactly?
@init4hair Thank you for writing! I am so pleased that my hair videos help you and inspire you! I am always thinking of new ways to cut and color better! I received my License in 1985 and in 1994 I had stepped out of the box. When I did so, my career took off! I have an educational DVD which tells the story of how I landed in Elle Magazine as one of the Top Ten Masters of Makeovers... The DVD also shows the original technique I was using at the time. Contact me for details. I'm happy to help!
@scryingeyes Thank you!! I love designing custom hair cuts based on texture, desired style and lifestyle of the Client. When I cut, I allow myself to move through the hair with ease... Thank you for noticing. :-)!!
@Chirsty76 Thank you!! Perhaps it'll soon be time for me to begin touring across the US. :-) Thank you for your comment. Always makes me smile when someone finds the hair cut they love!! :-)
wow this was amazing!..my friend wants to cut her hair..an wanted it to be a bob haircut...so we were looking for vids..and this one was really helpful! :)
Wow! That was wonderful! I have insanely thick hair and would love to have this cut. My only problem is it's pretty long and once it's cut, it's cut. I would love to get some feedback from you on whether or not this would be a good cut for me. I'd be happy to send some pictures, or simply look at a few of my videos, whatever. I just worry that the stylist won't get it exactly right and I'm stuck with the wrong haircut.
@Poohskitten Thank you! Since you have this video, and other pictures, I would think that the Stylist will be able to create a similar hair cut for you. When designing a new cut the natural texture, growth patterns, thickness and the way the hair moves must ALL be taken into account as the hair is being designed into the new cut. I feel that the right Stylist will be able to work with your hair. Just make sure you find a Stylist who understands your texture. Ask for a consultation first. :-)
@Emziwemzi647 Thank you! There are more videos on my youtube channel. And - more to come! I've been getting additional footage of my work, but am in a bind for finding the time to edit. The Salon has me Busy as can be! Yet, I want so much to add more videos!! :-) Thank you for writing. Happy to inspire you!!
I THINK YOUR TECHENIQUES IS VERY NATURAL AND I LIKE VERY MUCH HOW YOU SAY YOU DONT USE ANY GUIDES BUT I ASK YOU WHAT IS THE FIRST YOU SEE TO START A HAIRCUT THANK YUO AND SORRY MY ENGLISH IS NOT VERY WELL.
@EmzTrash Hello there. I didn't use any "guides"... I created this cut by touch and feel and use of the existing texture. When it comes to designing custom work, I always state to other Stylists that it is the freedom of the use of their skills and tools that sets them FREE from structured prior teachings. Cross that line into Creativity and you will be so happy! have fun exploring new techniques! Happy you wrote. :-)
She looks so cute and it's layered so beautifully. WOW! and you are a beautiful woman too! <3

@scryingeyes As you cut the duck tail allow the hair to flow inward, and then gentle comb it down. DO NOT pull against it.

Beautiful! I'll try this cut out tomorrow :) Mannequin head if I have to

i wish i had a hair stylist like you! just by watching part 1 and part two of this video, you deffinitely take your time out to get that perfected look. in places i've been, the haircut would have been done within a few seconds lately it seems like all the stylists i come across aren't really cautious when it comes to cutting hair. you do a really good job very precise & i love how yu take yur time out like that instead of just snipping really quick with the scissors

Thank you!

Good luck!

i luv this haircut i really wanna change my hair i think this is the one but im so scared ive had long hair for so long
mrssmith0718 1 year ago
@mrssmith0718 The one good thing about hair is that it grows back long again if so desired. BUT, you really do need to decide if a layered angled bob is what you really want before you sacrifice your length. I vote - GO FOR IT! if you have been wanting a change for quite some time! If it's a whimsical thought, then perhaps think it over before you cut off many inches. You can also have several great styles if you take your hair shorter one hair style at a time. Have fun!

My hair is curly. I thought of doing this same look but a lil longer.
Do u think it will be fine?
M just afraid that i might mess it up. M not doing it myself. Going to salon
Please advise =)
februaryfest 1 year ago
@februaryfest This layered angled bob hair cut will work great a bit longer. It will also work with curly hair. One thing to keep in mind is that the curls should not be pulled too tight while being cut. If the curls are allowed to rest as they do, as it is being shaped, then the resulting shape will look fabulous. IF you want to wear it straight too - then after the curls are cut into place - it should be blown straight and detailed without pulling.

hi sharon, i love your work!! :P
thanks in advance, kate
PhilTaylorPhotog 1 year ago
@PhilTaylorPhotog Razors are not to be used as a "technical pattern" tool. Meaning, the razor is used to create the correct shapes into the hair. Consider it a carving tool! Once you get the feel of how your razor carves... consider the shapes you can carve. Meaning, don't simple just lift and razor - you must feel that hair and see how it needs to fall and whether or not the razor can make that happen. Think this over... and let me know your thoughts. I'm happy to assist. :-)

Beenana9 1 year ago
i love the colour and cut! im thinking of getting my hair cut to a similar style, i have dark brown hair, would these highlights work? what tones did you use? :)
TheNinidancer 1 year ago
@TheNinidancer If your hair is naturally dark brown then a soft ash brown could be added to your hair as well as this soft neutral blonde. I use color to create my colors and bleach to create my highlights. However, the use of a purple shampoo can work wonders on maintaining the softer woodsy tones. If your hair is previously colored, please write me a message so I can explain in more detail how to achieve this type of hair coloring on previously colored dark brown hair. :-) Sincerely, Sharon
MyBellaColorStudio 1 year ago
@TheNinidancer Thank you. I used color to create the soft ash brown in her medium brown hair. I used bleach to create the highlights. Please note not all highlights go to the scalp. This is intentional to create flowing highlights. if your hair is previously colored to dark brown, note that color will not lighten color. This means you need to write me a message so I can assist you further. If your hair is natural then I would use an ash light brown as well as bleach for the highlights.

Poohskitten 1 year ago
@Poohskitten Thank you! Since you have this video, and other pictures, I would think that the Stylist will be able to create a similar hair cut for you. When designing a new cut the natural texture, growth patterns, thickness and the way the hair moves must ALL be taken into account as the hair is being designed into the new cut. I feel that the right Stylist will be able to work with your hair. Just make sure you find a Stylist who understands your texture. Ask for a consultation first. :-)

Cross that line into Creativity and you will be so happy! have fun exploring new techniques! Happy you wrote. :-)
