  • Who could dislike this story. Probably someone who believes that given enough time and random events nature would plow the field.

  • there are no small comments. great vid. loved it

  • I am constantly astounded by simpletons posting on these forums who hear parts of a book or sermon or two, and presto! They've got the gift of discernment, and are instantly qualified to judge someone's entire preaching and/or theology by the few slivers of info they pounce on and distort. It's a kid's book, people, and it makes 1 simple point - the Bible is the "owner's manual", given by our Creator. Chan's book is a children's book and an allegory. It's not a full theological treatise. Sheesh.

  • @ lama: the "well rounded" education is what they'll need critical facilities for. Free thinking to find out what truth is. Truth doesn't change because some don't like or believe it. The bible is all about GRACE. What does the well rounded education/ bronze man theology have to offer?

  • Good Job Francis! We've got to brainwash the children into believing in god whilst they're still young. As they get older and develop critical facilities of their own, or get a well-rounded education, there's a chance they'll see right through the bible as the work of bronze age man.

Yes, if you get them whilst they're young they'll barely stand a chance because you'll have conquered them so completely that the idea of thinking outside the little box you've put them in will repulse them.

  • The Bible is our instruction manual. What could we accomplish for the His kingdom if we ALL really studied and applied it to our lives. This book is a great tool to help kids use their imagination in what can be accomplished thru following His Word

  • 0:13 I lol'd

  • This book is a great way to start conversations with children about their purpose and finding it through reading the bible. You've got to give kids an imagery sometimes. This is a good one :)

  • @nbullis I see what you're saying, and I agree that the Bible shouldn't be manipulated for our own purposes, but this is a kids book. It's supposed to teach kids that there is more to life than just what we have now....that God provides for us.

  • haha .. that's cool

  • The Bible is not an owner's manual. It's the living and active Word of God. I think there's a danger in reading the Bible like a "How To" manual. We can't comprehend the Word - the Word comprehends us. If we try to take the knowledge of God from his word and use it to our advantage, that's no better than taking fruit from the tree for the sake of knowledge. After all, it was knowledge of both good and evil...I agree that the Bible is powerful, but let's not manipulate it for our purposes.

  • @nbullis Good comment!

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  • @nbullis I feel "The Big Red Tractor" is a pure story with a good example of sharing. But perhaps you feel cautious because you have a strong desire to maintain the integrity of God's Word. Thank you for that...If more folks did that, there'd be less false teaching, which seems to be flourishing. In love...

  • @nbullis :::: This wasn't meant to be a video about the bible being an instruction manual for life. This is really an illustration that is meant to talk about how Jesus established the church and how it should be run (shaped by scripture). Take a look and the extended video on Vimeo. This is just an excerpt from a longer video. He speaks after the illustration.

  • @nbullis that's not what this meant at all, the field is like our life or the fruits of our life, the tractor relates to our walk with God, even though we may be thankful we have God and we use him everyday, if we dont study the bible we will not be able to fix our walk with God so that we can be fruitful and spread the love of God to all

  • @nbullis It's an illustration. I don't believe I understand the problem. "We can't comprehend the word..." Really? Then what is the point of it? "If we try and take the knowledge of God and try and use it to our advantage..." ??? Isn't that what it is there for? To give us the advantage of knowing it? The bible is not so Holy that no one can understand it, or seek to understand it. It's very much a how-to manual. Everything I need to know is in that book. Please help me understand your intent

  • @nbullis God made the word so that we could comprehend it; it was written so we could understand him. Jesus clearly lays out how we are to live. We are using the word to build a solid foundation on the rock like Jesus told us to. What's really dangerous is trying to live without the instructions and warnings given in this great manual. There's no manipulating it here, and i love Chan's analogy about what it is.
