It would take a large force to successfully attack another super power and mobilizing such a massive force will alert the US. If the Soviets did invade the USA and were successful in their invasion, USA would have used their nuclear bombs. We're talking about the cold war era, USA and Soviet Union were not lallygagging.

Yes and the only NewYork map right now is Liberty wich no one likes very much because you start on one of 2 islands and fight over the 3rd and the only way to get to the 3rd is though helecopter or aphibous transport and the armor player usualy spons transports and takes the other players infantry to the island while air player kill the other players transports.The best thing you can get would be to airlife a light tank for 5 ta if you armor or 10 for an other role.

Right can sum1 help me out. I recently downloaded the demo of world in conflict for my pc after years of wanting the game but thinking it will never work. I installed the demo thinking that it wud work but just really lag. 2 my suprise it works fine on low graphics and ive enjoyed playing the demo for hours and it has made me want 2 buy the game so much can sum1 tell me if it will work with 480 mb Ram 60 gb ATI Radeon express 200.
It's pretty obvious if the demo run well then the full game will run well also. I suggest you should just pirate the game and test it,if it works good buy it,if it doesn't....well...sucks for you
Strategy is base building long term stuff while tactics is military. For example using your tanks to form a spearhead while infantry protects your flank is a tactic. Strategic example is doing non combat stuff like building a base in a certain position or in a certain way. However there is strategy to the game but not much. It's more of a tactical game :)
He's right, it's real time tactics, I own the gold edition, bought it off Steam.
It's tactics, because you only command a small portion of NATO or the Red Army at a time, while there may be hundreds of units on screen, you command maybe 10 to 15 at most.
It isn't tactics just because you control a portion of an army it is tactical because it's only units and no bases. the only buildings you see in this game is civilian structures and fortifications.
It's always been a shooter generation. Mainly because not only are shooters generally easier to play and easier to make, meaning the developers can make more intuitive gameplay. However, Strategy games have always been a strong minority, and games such as Age of Empires, Company of Heroes, Starcraft and Red Alert all have their places in gaming history. WiC just revolutionised the Strategy genre also (not to say other Strat games didn't) and added the type of gameplay usually found in RTSs.

when you click on campaing, on the top of the screen there is a Faction box, it says either USSR or US! Just choose the US faction

most parts of the russia is in Asia, and there is no frontline in Asia. China is in Asia too =/ Do you think Korea, Japan and all those countries in Asia will stay watching although they are getting aided by US? Kinda strange story but great game

They didn't. They were all attacked by China. About Russia, although most of it is in Asia, the bulk of her population and infrastructure are in Europe.

You're welcome. Lol, do you know that even now, the Sino-Russian relations are still somewhat friendly? The two nations view the United States as a threat due to it being the only Superpower. They both agreed that the United States is their greatest obstacle in gaining international influence and becoming superpowers themselves.

Sino-Soviet/Russian relations were quite hostile ever since the split. Even more so after the border conflict.
Chinese gave aid to Cambodians during their war with Vietnam, who in turn had aid from the Soviets. Also, China attacked India, which was on very friendly terms with Soviets.
Even now they have various disputes about borders/human rights/proper view of communism.
And China is still very hostile towards India, giving aid to it's enemy Pakistan. And Russia is still supporting India.

That was then, I'm talking about now. Now they're more worried about the United States then their own past history. Their relations are getting better too, they just removed like entire brigades over the past years.

phocjame this is a game a beautifuul game is true but not multiplayer strategy is only a quick game play and this is all not developing any base or make such as dominate of mapp only gets points , not a subject = like a tenis game with one unit you have conquest the mapp finish game all army is limited only graphic and repeat only graphic is what i like to this game and the fact thath is not a future game you now laser ,alien things

that would be incredible, but i'm not sure how powerful they were in the late 20th century. I know the brittish still imperialized hong kong then. but some other faction would be great, like north vietnamn or korea for the communist side, and either afghanistan or israel because the united states supplied them heavily in the 80's. and NATO could just be neutral peolple pleasers like they are now.

yeah see, HK was still under British because that was part of a 100 year old contract that was to expire in 1997. If China wasn't powerful enough by the late 20th century, Thatcher was gonna let HK stay in British rule for good.

you want socialisam? do you even know what it is? IN a socialist state, if you work hard for extra money you dont get it. In a socialist state you do not get paid extra if you do extra work therefore there is no incentive to work hard and the econonomy crumbles. Also in a socialist state if you make more money because of your work the government will take your hard earned extra cash and give it to somebody who does not even bother to work. Capitalism is way better. You get rewarded for hard work
