I have not been able to keep this song to myself for many years since I first heard it in the 1960s. I finally found the CD, after wearing out the LP.
amen, too all, today's choirs sing for popularity and fame, not under the ANNOINTING...allow this whole cd to minister to you, and you'll be a better saint...sing choir....teach us how to sing under the ANNOINTING...
this is how Christianity NEEDS to handle themselves. make a joyful noise! don't be so drab and glum at church. it's a celebration! waiting for the time where i can get down and boogie in heaven with this. HALLELUJAH!
I remember when my church choir used to sing this song back in the day. The old folks on that choir used to rock this song on Sunday morning. I honestly haven't heard this song sang in church since I was a child. I really wish church choirs would go back to singing songs like this. The songs they sing today just don't have the same power that these songs had.
How true, how true! Something as wondrous as our Lord's love for us just cannot be kept silent... Thank you so much for this post. Sometimes I wonder if you, who post this wonderful music, know how much blessing you bring to those who need to hear His word. I may be shut-in most of the time but I know that I can come here for a Spiritual renewing and fresh Anointing of His Holy Spirit. A heartfelt thank you - God Bless.. Gary
You are absolutely right Shaneida! I grew up in Abyssinian, my father was Rev. LeRoy Lowe, my mom was Sis. Lora Lowe, she was president of the women usher board and Bro. William Diggs was the president of the male usher board.
Madame Margret Simpson was something else! Thanks for the memories!
Lead singers are (Blind) Madame Margaret Sampson and Calvin White. Calvin, who died last year, also recorded with Bradford's group; The Gospel Wonders: and two pop groups, The Sand Pebbles and C. and the Shells (the same trio, Calvin and two women, Lonzine and Ann, under different names). Calvin composed "Long As I Got Jesus" but never reaped the benefits. Writers, guard your work!
Tom Waits and Tony Bennett both swear, ahem, by this record.
I remember a lot of the people in this picture. I grew up in Greater Abyssinian, and when Rev. Means left Abyssinian a lot of them left with him... I remember these songs.. Precious Memories, oh how they linger.. :)
Yes classic album and song! This was on everybody's choir Sunday song list lol!He stays in my room has one to be my favorites on this album.LOL the choir members wasn't ashamed to praise him either on this song!
I wore out the LP. I wore out the tape I made of the LP. Now I have the CD, which I have ripped to my hard drive. I love this choir.

I discovered this music way back when, in the 1960s. It was the album that turned me onto traditional Gospel music.
PS - I am a white boy, not that it should matter.
