  • rip commander owens- james farentino. just saw it online.

  • Dude they should make a new version of this it would be awesome with new cgi

  • If thay could had changed history we would have a great goverment now and not what we got now.DUH!!!!!

  • ha ha thought i was looking at Charlie Sheen when i saw Martin Sheen in this clip. Winning!

  • like if you think this movie was slow as 773# but you think they should remake it with Daniel Craig as the CO

  • @DraketheGreat1000 How about Arnold "The Terminator" as the CO? I guess he's back. Wouldn't agree?!?

  • If the War Department gave her a couple destroyers and a battleship in 1941 she could have destroyed any fleet in the world.

  • Imagine if they went back in time and prevented themselves from making this movie. All the mistakes of movie history could be avoided. How sweet would that be?!

  • This movie was awesome up untill the end.

  • @allnamshowwow i liked

  • @way2muchNFO it

  • So disappointed when the song never turned up in this film.

  • Thumbs up if you remember of this in 2011!

  • there needs to be a drinking game for this movie

  • wishful thinking... truth is, we all know what really happened that day. This movie is a fine example of american view on a "Fair fight" concept, that we see so well these days.

  • This movie played out like a Twilight Zone episode because nothing happened! They went back in time, interacted with a few people from the era, had lengthy debates about morals and ethics and then the same storm that took them there brought them back and in the end, they didn't do anything and nothing changed! Rod Serling would be proud! lol

  • SPOILER. @baronvg: The whole point was Cdr Owens had to go back in time in order to help invent the Nimitz, not for the Nimitz to prevent the attack. A fake-out/twist ending, not a total waste even if you're disappointed.

  • @youngfogey1 First off, I never said I was disappointed. I actually liked the movie and wasn't upset that they didn't single handed-ly try to take on the Japanese. As for Owens, I must have missed that part. Why would Owens need to go back? Obviously the Nimitz was gonna be designed and built anyway. Owens helping to do that since he was stranded in the past changes the timeline which goes against his character's motivation.

  • "...THIS IS THE U.S.S. NIMITZ... WHERE THE HELL ARE WE?..."

The real question is: WHEN the hell are we?

  • @FowlManor That is such a douche time traveller question :D i love stewie

  • This makes me want to go to the NAVY instead of the Air Force !

  • what does Mr.Laskey says at 2:18, something like attempting murder or what?

  • im stationed in the nimitz for 4 years...were on drydock right now here in bremerton WA

  • I kinda find this movie ironic cuz one of the biggest targets of the pearl harbor attack was the aircraft carriers

  • this carrier could have win the war by itself

  • "You created a time paradox you can't change the future like that!"

  • Id like to see a remake of this film.

  • "Damn! They`re gonna let the Japs do it again!..."

  • Just watched this and WOW was it disappointing... "hey here's a great premise! LETS DO NOTHING WITH IT!" Only redeeming quality was the jet footage was 100% real.

  • @daftbottv Typical of a pussy to block me and delete my comments. I guess you showed your true and pathetic colours, eh?

  • forever kirk.

  • Love the film.

  • This movie is loosely based off of the Philadelphia Experiment from 1943, which also was made into a movie.

  • The Final Countdown 2: Enterprise

Enterprise goes back to 1941, just before...

  • the OST is epic!

  • An hour of the movie is just about airplanes taking off and landing

  • @tommy407 And is there any problem with it?=D

  • love this movie but If anyone likes this concept you should read the Axis of time novels by John Birmingham there great books

  • 1:28 : buzz lightyear!! xDD

  • Anyone who liked the concept of this film might want to check out Zipang. It's an anime, same time travel idea, only with a much smaller Aegis Cruiser, and they're Japanese. Damn good series.

  • @harlequin2262 thanks for the recommendation hey if you like the concept of this movie you should check out the Axis of time novels by John Birmingham

  • An awful trailer, but an excellent film. Used to watch it over and over again as a kid in the 80s.

  • Awesome!!!

  • @buccaneer43207 you're right. hahahae.

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid! They should make a good remake of it now!

  • @MrAttilatheHun baayahh

  • FYI........yes, the Nimitz could have wiped out the entire Japanese Navy. However, the Nimitz was stationed in the Atlantic, not the Pacific.

  • hello people... i came back from 1940s just to post this comment... IM LOVIN YOUTUBE!!

  • The photography in this film beats most of what's coming out of Hollywood these days.

  • They gave WAY to much information out with this commercial.

  • This movie was okay, but it was somewhat disappointing. If they made a remake of this movie with more action scenes, better acting, and modern graphics, I think it could be epic.

  • was captain Matthew Yelland promoted to general aftermath??

  • this movie is sweet

  • This is stil my favorite movie.

  • I remember this movie AWESOME ;D

  • An AWESOME movie! I remember watching this with my Dad before I started my 20yr. Navy career (84-04)!

    1 of my fav. movies!

  • One of my fave from my childhood. I loved this movie when I first saw it in the early 80's. I just bought the DVD and showed it to my pal. although, he'd never seen it before he enjoyed it as much as any movie made today,

  • The Nimitz could have wiped out the japanese navy by its self.

  • @jdhiner1 The Nimitz could have wiped out most of Japan by itself. I might be wrong, but I think it was carrying nuclear weapons at the time.

  • @jdhiner1 Yeah they could of but they didnt and thats why this movie is the biggest piece of shit in the history of the world!

  • @liveleakman Haha thats good to know.

  • and I'm Adolf Hitler.

  • lol f-15s vs old jap planes

  • They were F14 Tomcat

  • oh shit. my bad

  • could they have taking on the japananes navel all by them self. ?

  • No, they would have ran out of fuel and ordinance long before that happened.

  • there is already a 2 disc etion

  • and a blu ray as well!

  • I love blue underground anyway so it would be fitting. I own at least a dozen of their dvds

  • I win if thats the case!

  • wrong movie yall. also one comment each please!

  • @BlueUndergroundinc The Final Countdown reappeared on region1 at my JBL home cinema on Christmas Eve. The transfer is better then first edition region2 that I have. Colours are striking bold with natural colour balance. Contrast and brightness spot on! The Dolby Stereo 6channel mix with newly created stereo surrounds worked fairly well as normal and with centre back and overhead matrix surround.

  • @BlueUndergroundinc I also ordered the regionFree blutray same day the DVD arrived. I’m not over crazy with 8channel as I know what to listen for and can tell what is happening on the four channel surround outputs. I done basic stereo mixing and know how it works. Its okay just as long as it had true discreteness, unlike Star Trek the motion picture that mix is so messed up!

  • @BlueUndergroundinc Listen to the original Dolby stereo 70mm print if one can ever be tracked down and doubtful it would be in good conduction with faded colour and the mag tracks might have flaked away.

  • @BlueUndergroundinc What they did for the 8channel is take some portions of the left and right fronts and folded it onto the surrounds! What a holy mess! That is not how you create stereo surrounds. The original monaural surround would come in as and when its called for on the mix not constant surround all the time! SIGH

  • @BlueUndergroundinc Maybe you guys can do a Star Trek original revisit and do it better than Paramount, because clearly they haven’t a clue? Even the grain was gone! DNR and I hate EE SIGH A few missing sound effects that I noticed!

Anyway looking forward to the bluray and I’ll see if it meets the expectations on the Dolby Stereo TrueHD8channel

    Happy New Year
