  • This is beautiful.

Personally, I think this would be an amazing glass cabinet. It wraps around on three sides and the gnarled form would really juxtapose a small selection of cut lead crystal, almost as if nature was trying to reclaim the glass, but got caught in the act, and now the wood is preserved bare.

Just an idea. If you've already done something with this, the above might be an idea the next time you find yourself with an open trunk slice! :)

  • Hey !! You inspired me to make my own sculpture, I had some dead apple wood in my yard, started hacking away. Not sure on what stain to use or if i should make an hour glass shape like yours. I would love if you could check my video on my wall, and give me some feed back. Thanks

  • Great work! I wonder how this piece would look with a glass top and a light inside. Would make a great end table.

  • @edconde77

I agree. Thats probably something I need to do next. Thanks for the compliment.

    Chris

  • @dediu00ro

Thank you very much for your kind words and for subscribing. I hope you enjoy all my videos. In my youth I shot a compound bow and my brother shoots a long bow. I can appreciate the skill to make and shoot a long bow. Thanks for sharing.

  • Very nice!!! Like the use of hand tools...they tend to bring my artistic side out also.

  • @jackbeam11

Thanks for the compliment. In a few months I'll start working the "Son of Beauty & The Beast"

    Chris

  • nice work

  • @vlad11011

    Thanks.

    Chris

  • What a cool piece of tree. My 1st thought when I saw the unfinished chunk is that is would make a great rustic ottoman. LOL Thanks so much for your great videos.

  • I have not used a hoof rasp. I will research this. Thanks for the information.

    Chris

  • Very nice Chris! Glass top, table. Have you ever used a hoof rasp for stock removal? It can make fast sawdust and produce a quite smooth finish.

  • Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure what to do with it. May be I will donate it to a museum assuming they don't use it for firewood:) Please enjoy all my videos.

    Chris

  • Amazing! ...needs a super large quartz.

  • Yep - Moved in 1 year ago and put my shop in a part of the unfinished basement.

    Chris

  • Workshop looks different....new house?

  • Thanks for the comment. I thought about putting a clear glass top on it and a light in the middle. To be honest, I'm not sure what to do with it as its just sitting in the corner of my living room.... I thought about maybe auctioning it off at an art charity event but have not pursued this yet.

    Chris

  • that came out great, would look good in a modern high end home with its own lighting

  • I am so glad you enjoy my videos. Thank you for your service!

Have you seen my video entitled "Tribute To The Troops".

    I made it for you.

    Chris

  • That was totally awsome! From tree to art...that you just don't see anymore. As a member serving on active duty. Thank you!

  • Gary - Hope all is well. Thanks for the feedback and be sure to copy me on your latest creations.

    Chris

  • Glad your tools survived the move from Baltimore to Cincinnati! The Watco finish looks fantastic on the cherry!

    Gary

  • Thank you.

    Chris

  • Hey good tp have your vids back man.

    D :0)

  • @Dames12345

    Glad you enjoyed it.

    Chris

  • Man, with that much axes you might be considered dangerous! Nice fluid lines on the sculpture, and gorgeous color. Cherry that is dead, or almost dead often has great coloring. Expect the color to darken slightly though toward red, that is natural to cherry. This sculpture begs for a glass tabletop! Makes a perfect coffee table that will be in the family for a long time.

  • @Mueiwark

Thanks for the feedback and thank you more for the inspiration. I am thinking of making it into a table.

    Chris

  • nice one mate... you always get rewarded when you put on the varnish :) beautiful feeling

  • @shutupndive1

Glad you enjoyed it. You're right - the varnish always make it worth it.

    Chris

  • 5' even ;-)

  • As dramatic as this may sound..... Thank you God for letting this man pass this inspiration on to me! (And I'm not really religious. Defiantly not on YouTube)

I have a spot in the woods that has a 5" stump next to the fire pit that I want to make into something very useful at a camp site. This has made me realize what I have wanted out of that stump. Not NEARLY as exquisite, but what I needed for that stump. Then, I will drag. I will chop. I will craft.

Thank you good sir. May I have another?

  • @itsDJR And don't forget to post your work on Youtube for all of use to admire!

  • great work! just throw a nice piece of glass on top and its a beautiful side table!!
