They use similar machines in Europe for forest harvesting operations, not like here in NZ. We still use people to cut down trees, because of our rugged terrain. Then we limb them. Skyline Haulers transport the logs up the hill, but times are changing.

Sure this thing is slow but what can it carry compared to a man?? In an emergency, this thing could get a fire hose into the bush with a big engine that can pump water from any river or creek. Lots of potential here you know.

whats the point behind the invention? its slower than track/wheeled vehicles, probably louder.... the only benefit i can see is that it would handle a greater range of terrains than wheeled vehicles.... but not track. The motives behind the project is less from practicality, and more for shock value....

The idea is that the smaller footprint as opposed to a tread lets it go through rough terrain without messing up the ground.

I saw one used for logging, I think.

actually this is a very important and usefull invention that is used in the logging industry for moving equipment and matterials to areas in forrests unaccesible to wheeled vehicals

this is used in scandinavia to cut wood it has a large arm attached which a jainsaw on it... (they build it this way not to damage to much of the surroundings in nature like is happening in the amazon and other places).. This seems however to be a much slower version perhaps a first trial of that same device..
