@dillon52525 i'm just going off what i have heard. im in the upper midwest and we don't have alligator gar here but i have tried eating a shortnose gar and it was not that good. also it seems with the alligator gar there might be quite a bit of over harvesting with all the bowfishing. so many people shooting large gar every day has to have some bad effects on the populations.

I haven't caught an alligator gar yet, but I caught a 2 foot longnose today actually.

I was fishing for bream with my ultra light pole with 6 lb test, and he broke the line as soon as I got him out of water. I think I had too much drag on my reel.

I just had a 4 inch worm on a small hook, with a floater about 18" up from the hook.

I am located in Southern Louisiana, so I was fishing in the Henderson swamp, the outskirts of the Atchafalaya Basin. Good luck!

@killawheat gut a fish and hook all of the gust and organs onto a small treble hook with no weight. cast about 4 foot ahead of them so they swim into it "if you can see them." if not use a bobber and sit and wait let the fish swallow the bait it takes a few second because they swallow the whole bait because they cant chew, make sure you wait or you wont get a good hook up, they like to chew on it before they take it.
