I've seen these and they look amazing. I'd love to give it a test ride BUT this is just for riding, you put saddle bags on this it will ruin the lines. but I aleways have bags on my bikes, it lets you run errands on them, otherwise you're limited to just what you can put in your pockets-you cant even carry a McDonalds cheeseburger on this thing.
I love these bikes, Harley through and through, except for the engine. The engine is made by Porsche. It is indeed the fastest Harley you can buy, but only because it has that engine. Harley engines are torque monsters, this one not so much, BUT, very fast... 11.0+ sec quarters.
@sharathshine it's a relaxed position to sit in and puts the least pressure on any of your body. on racing bikes you're in prone possition a lot and that puts strain on your back wrists and even legs if you're leant foreward enough. i know many people who have driven super sports their whole life and are getting arthritis from the constant pressure and use of their wrists while in prone possition... but have you ever heard of a harley driver complain of artheritis?
@hodenkrampf3 not even close. The Busa is in a whole other world. I beleive Harley's most powerful bike is a v rod putting out 119 hp and weighing 700lbs. a Busa has 194 at the crank and weighs 550lbs wet.
@pwshadow The Vrod is Harley's most powerful bike in terms of horsepower. In torque the 96 incher beats it by 10 ft. lbs. In an 1/8 mile a 96 incher would usually beat a Busa. 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile belong to the Busa because of its horsepower. I prefer Harleys but Busas are nice bikes. All bikes are cool. 2 wheels usually beats 4 in the sensation and the sensation to me is all that matters. Just enjoy the ride, thats the point.

I'm buying the triumph rocket roadster, which is faster over the quarter than the v rod; gets 300 klms out of a tank (on the highway) and a hell of a lot better looking. Lots of options too.
@MrRationalDebate Hey, just to point out, having a NRS myselfl The tank is under the seat and at 19 liters making it very decent for mileage, i get about 300km to the tank on highways.. you can reduce the peg stretch if u like, as I've seen it done on many bikes. If you have long legs then its a snug fit. For a person with shorter arm extension and legs, you are right, the rider will be in a clam like position. If not, it is the sexiest beast that is worthy of the little extra effort to tame ;)

I just got one today and made the right choice. Hiyabusa or Night Rod Special. What I gave for it? Priceless, its a HARLEY NIGHT ROD SPECIAL. What more can you say. Loving it!
It's a great bike, but it's way overpriced. It's costs is like a full dress tourer: close to $20,000 out the door. I can get a new Suzuki bking for $10,000 or a used vmax with 6,000 miles on it for $4,000-$5,000. The vrod is a nice bike, and it's quick. But it's no match for the Vmax or the Suzuki Bking.
well in my opinion this bike is misplaced...why would someone want to own a performance Harley? The Harleys are about style,SOUND, and not built for track...want fast, go japan or Italy..
Apart from being really heavy for a first timer it is quite expensive aswell, I am sure you would not like this masterpiece to be hurt. Try for few months on bit lighter and older bike may be of your friend or something and then go for it.
I used to ride my dad's 05 Sportster 883, but one day I test rode one of these (after I'd been looking at Sukuki GSXR600s), and I bought one the same day.
First of all, the 09 model and later offer a 1250cc engine, NOT the one 1130cc mentioned here. When I say it's fast, it's FAST. The throttle response is ridiculous, and the tach goes up to 17000rpms.
The best part is that it still rides and feels like a Harley. Just a Harley with the biggest balls they've ever rolled off the line.
My bro destroys his buddy on his 600 YZFR Yamaha. This harley is a beast! Harley through and through! If you think a cruiser can't be fast, get on a test ride with one of these bad boys and you'll change your mind damn quick!

105 hp? same as any current day 600cc sport bike which weighs 300lbs less. nothing wrong with a cruiser but seriously step up the power or just don't mention the horsepower like it's impressive. i ride a 160whp 410lb fully liquored bike so i guess this just seems odd
yeah, but it holds most of the power and the huge torque over the entire range, so it's really easy and comfortable. and it's a cruiser, not a sport bike...
Its 125HP, and the torque is probably 40 more ft lbs than any sportbike. The numbers are probably conservative too, because I can outrun alot of crotch rockets.
I would rather push my HD on fire Up a 5 mile hill than ride a import weiner cycle. I know say what you want about us redneck Harley Riders we have heard it all. But at least we are proud to buy an American Built Bike. if that makes me an asshole well then I'm proud of that also.
I've been on a VRod for over 5 years. I have 100K miles with no problems at all. It is an incredible motor. Same clutch, drive belt and have had no valve lash adjustments either. I don't like riding on my hands and knees, nor do I like riding like I'm getting a pevic exam. It is a comfortable riding position for me.

The criticism regarding ride position in town riding is absurd.
There is nothing that identifies an amateur rider than one who has their feet out at low speed.
This is a very dangerous thing to do. No matter how slow you are riding, feet, offer no support whatsoever.
One must learn how to ride at a crawl and learn this early on. Break bad habits. One can balance a bike at a crawling pace.
Feet out only when at a stop. Period.

lotuselanplus2s, lets see would you compare YOUR weiner to an elephants? I bet your girls say YOU wish for it to be a 100th the size LOL! The VROD is a 1200cc, the Rocket 3 is a 2300cc, nearly double so if you compared them on that basis, then the rocket 3 loses BIG time as it does not do 0-60 in half the time nor does it double the Vrod's top speed. Go out and ride these bikes on the track and then talk! Newbie!

lotuselanplus2s, well then if you restore motorcycles, you would know just how ridiculous the comparison is, mind you the Vrod will hit the 0-60 in 3.3 and the rocket 3.69 (Stock) so compared to the ghastly 2300cc engine the 1200 does very well! And anyway, the rocket 3 is just a bike with a chevi engine bolted on, whats motorcycle about that!

@h4rleyhog I'm not really saying the V-Rod is a bad bike,,,its just that i prefer Triumphs .Harley finally got it right,after about 100 years,i've repaired quite a few Harleys and they really don't do anything for me,too much weight for what BHP they put out ,sure they are pretty bikes and the quality of paint and chrome is lovely but to me a bike should be riden not just polished.Besides down here they are very few straight roads to just sit back and cruise,here you have to ride the curves .

He still shakes his head in disbelief! And He is 60 pounds lighter than me! I do love the way his V rod rides though nice bike! Sounds good to!...

well basically southpark had a new episode about the 'f' word aka fag, and the point of the episode wasn't that harley riders are fags but the meaning was that words are constantly evolving in regards to meaning. however the more porcine ignorant masses couldn't see what the creators of southpark were trying to say, so now every harley video they see, they say FAGS bla bla bla. I don't ride a harley, but the riders aren't fags. around san antonio tx if u say that to a biker you'll get hurt.

It's a great bike, but it's way overpriced. It's costs is like a full dress tourer: close to $20,000 out the door. I can get a new Suzuki bking for $10,000 or a used vmax with 6,000 miles on it for $4,000-$5,000. The vrod is a nice bike, and it's quick. But it's no match for the Vmax or the Suzuki Bking.

Apart from being really heavy for a first timer it is quite expensive aswell, I am sure you would not like this masterpiece to be hurt. Try for few months on bit lighter and older bike may be of your friend or something and then go for it.

I used to ride my dad's 05 Sportster 883, but one day I test rode one of these (after I'd been looking at Sukuki GSXR600s), and I bought one the same day.
First of all, the 09 model and later offer a 1250cc engine, NOT the one 1130cc mentioned here. When I say it's fast, it's FAST. The throttle response is ridiculous, and the tach goes up to 17000rpms.
The best part is that it still rides and feels like a Harley. Just a Harley with the biggest balls they've ever rolled off the line.

105 hp? same as any current day 600cc sport bike which weighs 300lbs less. nothing wrong with a cruiser but seriously step up the power or just don't mention the horsepower like it's impressive. i ride a 160whp 410lb fully liquored bike so i guess this just seems odd

yeah, but it holds most of the power and the huge torque over the entire range, so it's really easy and comfortable. and it's a cruiser, not a sport bike...

Its 125HP, and the torque is probably 40 more ft lbs than any sportbike. The numbers are probably conservative too, because I can outrun alot of crotch rockets.

The 1st year night rod special had the 1130cc motor that is why the reviewer said 105hp. After that they went to the 1250cc, 125hp

I've been on a VRod for over 5 years. I have 100K miles with no problems at all. It is an incredible motor. Same clutch, drive belt and have had no valve lash adjustments either. I don't like riding on my hands and knees, nor do I like riding like I'm getting a pevic exam. It is a comfortable riding position for me.
