@vaedriah - I built it piece by piece, so the unit would be plum by using the frame (the first connection) as a point of reference. If I built it on the bench, and tightened it down, it might have been off, or crooked. The other thing is, I was by myself. A whole unit would need at least one helper. Thanks for the question.
@clipdan I actually built mine in my living room by myself and installed it by myself. If you bolt the bottom of the entire grill guard to the truck brackets, you can swing it up and then work the top. Great videos! Thanks for posting!
@Jimboslice5545 ---> Hey Jimbo, yep thanks for the comment. I guess you can benchbuild. (or in your case living room build, lol... I wanted to do mine as shown, just for the fact I could make adjustments (if needed) on the truck itself at the time of the build. But either way is fine. It really boils down to what you are comfortable doing... Thanks for the comments. Glad my driveway mechanics videos are offering some help out there. It was fun making them.
(QUESTION) From gmczr2guy -> just wondering could this gaurd u think be fine if i smack a deer with it going 50mph... i was thinking of getting one for protection but idk seems flimsy. (ANSWER) From CLIPdan -> If your goal is to slay deer with your truck, then I wouldnt buy this. You should purchase a heavy duty 1 PIECE, however hitting a 250lb-400lb deer, at 50 MPH, might NOT help your truck in any situation. I am sure even in a heavier 1 piece it's going to bend something on the guard/truck.
@MentorCardinals -> I have used the factory tow hooks before. However, in order to install this brush/grille guard, you need to REMOVE the factory tow hooks. There was no way to reinstall them. In addition, since this is a composite brush/grille guard, I would not recommend welding or attaching tow hooks to it in any way. If this was a one piece it would be different. This one is more for the overall look, and to support some off road lights. Hopefully this information helped.
@MusicManBigTimeStar => Thanks M.M.B.T.S. I do have other D.I.Y. videos that I uploaded. I do these to help out the average person, who might not want or know how to take on a certain job. If my videos inspire to have them do the work themselves, and save them money. then it was worth it.
Thank you very much 4 your video, my kids has a 95 F 250 7.3 and we going jack it 4 4 wheeling. This was one of the products that he wanted and thanks to your video, I can save him 90 bucks and do it myself. Thanks Soooo very much. This vid will save LOTS of people money and time. Thanks once again!
@MusicManBigTimeStar -> No problem... If you take you time, layout all the pieces first to see what you got. You'll do fine. If you using it as a push bar, or for a winch modular piece togethers might not be for you. But for the look and a nice set of off road lights, and this will do fine. Mine still looks good to date. Like I stated before this is my first build with one of these, so time will tell how it truly hold up against the seasons. I live in New England, and it shows all extremes here
Great video! I am thinking about purchasing a grille guard for my 4runner from Truck Gear Direct and I'm wandering, how is yours holding up? I am just a little apprehensive about going through Truck Gear Direct because they are about half the cost of most other grille guards, so I though I would check with someone who has had one for a while...Thanks!
@jnurre -> Thanks for the comment. Seeing how my grille guard in this video is only 2 months old, it's to soon to tell how it will really hold up to the New England conditions that I live in.. I can say that this is a great bar for adding lights and for the look. (being a modular piece together)... Rather than a solid one piece or even a three piece w/ light guards... If you looking to use a winch, I would look for a more HD solid guard. Hopefully this comment helps, along with my video too...
@jnurre -> just an update. It's been just about a year now, and the finish on this guard is holding up fine. I do have some rust on the larger unpainted bolts (shown on the video). I did touch them up, at the time of installation with black touch up paint, but some rust is noted, around the corner of the bolts and washer. Not bad, but I might have to keep touching them up or switch to stainless bolts/washers Did you end up purchasing one, after watching my video? Video feedback is welcomed

@redneckboy546 ---> I do not work for either Hunter or Truck Gear Direct. I am only a customer who video recorded my installation. Their main website I found to be: w w w . hunter4x4 . com/index.html - I purchased mine cheaper through Ebay at their store: myworld.ebay . com/ebaymotors/truckgeardirect Hopefully this info helps. Thanks for commenting on my video, I hope you found my installation useful.
hey quick question, why did you choose to mount the grill guard piece by piece, why not assemble it it first then mount it?
