I think branagh did a great job with his modern adaption of the magic flute. It's a little bit sad that here in Germany his film is barely known. I for example never had the chance to see this movie in cinema because in was shown only in a few ones.
Never the less I think good old Wolfgang would be proud :o)
The magnificent theatre you can see at the beginning is "La Fenice", burnt to the ground several years ago and, following photos and projects, rebuilt with accuracy.
P.S. "La Fenice" means "The Phoenix".....
I'm proud of the wonderful welcome of my country to Ken!
Tediousoldfools rules again! I am in the US and haven't been able to get The Magic Flute yet. I watched the whole "Making of" that you posted here. Awesome. I've always thought that Kenneth pours his whole soul into his movies and this just proves it. At the end of Part 3 he is completing a Long Difficult Day of filming, he looks exhausted and his voice cracks when he tries to explain that he didn't think communication was as good as he wanted it. He had spent everything he had that day.
My mum is one of the three ladies :D Kim-marie Woodhouse :)
