  • I liked all the pairs ... I loved the sunglasses!

  • Your review was super helpful! I just ordered my first pair from Zenni and I am hoping they aren't going to be too thick! I did the 1.57 index but my vision is -4 and -4.75 they are plastic frames so im keeping my fingers crossed!

  • Just Curious, What happens if they need a nose pad, a screw or adjusting. Do you send them back to Zenni?

  • @realitycheck833 It'd hardly be worth sending them back. You could almost get a new pair for that. I've never had any problems with the pairs I've purchased, but if something happened, I'd fix them myself or just take them to an eye glass store or my eye doctor and get them to do it. Can't cost that much to just have them make a minor fix like that.

  • @lewister6232 They fit perfectly when you received them and you didn't have to take them to someone to adjust?

  • @realitycheck833 I don't know about perfect, but they certainly fit fine. And I'm perfectly comfortable with wiggling around the nose pads and other stuff myself as needed. My husband actually put a plastic pair over a tea kettle to bend the ear pieces to his liking. (Which isn't something a store is going to do for you anyway.) If you're really hard to fit, it might not be worth it for you. (Rule of thumb for buying anything online if you're hard to fit.)

  • The green pair look the best on you. Thank you for the review.

  • What does "80% tint" mean? Does that mean it blocks only 80% of UV? Or does it block 100% of UV and 80% of visible?

Thank you for the reviews of the website!

  • @fiandrhi Think 100% tint would be completely dark. So 80% tint is dark, but not so much you can't see out of it. You can get really light tints, say in a color that matches the glasses. They would do little to block the sun, but would have a color to them.

  • @lewister6232 Thanks for the response. Actually, most (but sadly not all) sunglasses block 100% of UV. This doesn't blind you, because our eyes don't see UV light. My concern about ZenniOptical tints is that they may not block 100% of UV. Unfortunately, I can't find anything on their website to indicate how much of UV is blocked, which is why I've hesitated to get sunglasses from them, much as I'd like to.

  • @lewister6232 OMG, I feel like an idiot now. I just went to their website, and there right at the top of the page they have "All our glass include...full UV protection". I don't think they had that when I've visited the website before, or I missed it! Assuming they're telling the truth, the sunglasses are okay.

  • i think the green ones are best looking! but I'm just kinda like that....

  • waiting for frames from Zenni, lets face it the "real" value of any glasses frame could not be more than $4, nice to finally get fairly priced glasses

  • Your glasses all look great. Thanks for the review and good information.

  • Great review!! thanks!!

    I have a strong Rx, -4.0

do you like 1.57 or 1.72 INDEX better?

How did you come up with choosing frame width 130cm?

  • @bobcook28 I'm starting to think I get a better lens in terms of the prescription with the lighter lens. (Typically 1.61 for me.) I don't go much higher than that because of the cost.

I got my original sizing the first time I ordered from a pair I already had. Also went and browsed through an eyeglass shop to see what kinds of colors/shapes/sizes looked good on me and made notes.

  • hey thanks how do ask the doctor to get a copy of the prescription for the lens and i was wondering have you went to americasbest eye glass and contacts place yet

  • @bluejay148 You just ... ask your doctor for the prescription. That's all. They're required by law to give you a copy. Never heard of americas best and no plans to use them.

  • how much did you pay for four of them i never order a pair online before and how may i get my prescrition done by them

  • @bluejay148 The last time I ordered four, it was less than $100. When you place your order, you input your prescription from the paper your eye doctor gives you. It's fairly simple to do.

  • 133cm ....thick cheapskate...they look terrible...those green pair..OMG...totally luck of the draw..thats a lots of $10 ...predicatble and irriational...another sucker

  • Can you tell me how to measure how wide to get the frames? I know you said you picked the wrong size, so I'm wondering.. how DO you pick the right size?

  • @witchymama2 I picked the wrong size because I wasn't paying attention when I ordered. :-) I have a good idea what frame width works for me from measuring a pair I liked. Just take a ruler and measure across the full width of the front of the glasses, then just stay in that range when you're ordering.

  • @lewister6232 But lets say I'm 32 and have always needed glasses but never had any.. >_> How would I know what size to get? I have my pupil distance.. but is there a way to measure across you face to see what size would be best or do you just guess the first time?

  • @witchymama2 I actually went to a glasses store and tried on a bunch of pairs to check measurements. Most of the frames at places like Lenscrafters have the lens width and frame width, etc., printed on the earpiece. Or sneak in a ruler to measure a pair once you find one you like. If you've never had glasses, that will also help you with deciding what styles/colors look best on you too.

  • I was wondering if your prescription is progressive or single? Have looked at the frames for progressives, and there's really not much to choose from. Thanks. And I love your glasses, chic AND fun!

  • @Sherri119 My prescription is single and you're right, there's not a huge selection available for progressives. I did get a nice style for my mom last year (in purple!) but that one isn't available anymore either. Not sure if they just don't want to do much with progressives or there just isn't much available for them to offer.

  • Did you put on makeup to do a youtube video?

  • @mkennedy83 Um, odd question. Except that I don't normally wear makeup much. I think I had it on that day for something else. Or for doing a company video. It makes a difference for sure.

  • I would love to have the code or serial number for the black and red pairs of glasses. I love them but can't find them on Zenni. Perhaps they have been discontinued but if you had the Identification # I could double check.

    Thanks for the great review!

  • @MyOpenheart4u Someone asked about that several months ago. At the time, they still had the red ones on the site and the SKU was 3659. Try putting that in the search box and see if they still have them. Good luck!

  • I love the Black and the Red both. Do you have the ID # for those two so I can purchase them as well? Thanks so much for the great review.

  • vvvvvvv You know who that one dislike was from. Trolls and haters, smh.

  • Cool glasses! I got some from there last year but think I will go back on and get some more:)Love the sunglasses!

  • Do you know if it would be possible to get te frames and then get my own prescriptions but in at a lab in my city?

  • @jeankeir I believe so. You'll have to check their website, but I do know that some online places do allow for just a frame order.

  • @lewister6232 I just don't trust there prescriptions, But i can't see why my Lab couldn't change the prescriptions for me!

    Thanks

  • My favorite is a pink, is tiny and elegant, thanks for the information.

  • Is the prescription I have for my contact the same prescription I would use for my glasses

  • @secrets2keep You'll have to check with your doctor on that. I know contact prescriptions have additional information about the shape of the eye and glasses prescriptions have additional information about pupillary distance. Other than that, I would think they would be the same. But ask the doc.

  • good information, nice video

  • Your review was very helpful to me. I went online and ordered a pair. Thanks a bunch !!!!!

  • Your review was very helpful to me. I went online and ordered a pair.

  • How can you be sure that they will look good on you?! And all those crazy numbers that are part of my prescription, will Zenni verify all that with my doctor? How long does it normally take to receive them?

  • @atatum324 You don't really _know_. That's part of what you're trading to get a cheaper price. I tried on tons of pairs at the store, have a good general idea of what looks good on my face and then just take a chance. And no, Zenni doesn't verify things with your doctor. Again, part of what you give up. However, I did have them contact me about my mom's prescription because the numbers didn't make sense. Called the dr, they wrote them down wrong. So obvious things they do check. 2-4 weeks.

  • What option do I choose for thin lenses? I don't want coke bottles! LOL! Thanks and great video!

  • @PrettyRissy08 Zenni (and pretty much everyone) offers different levels of high index lenses. The higher the number, the thinner the lens. And the higher the cost. Just depends on what you're willing to pay. I usually just go for the thinner ones in frames that are half-rim because thick lenses are more obvious there. 1.57 index, I believe.

  • @Obomah From what I remember, each sunshade was the same shape as that particular frame. Or close enough. I tend to just keep a bunch on hand and grab as needed, so sometimes they are right and sometimes not. :-) And it's like $4 extra to get. They have some +sunshade models to choose from as well that are magnetized that might work for you.

  • Thinking about ordering...How about adjustments? Do you have to go get them adjusted??

  • @maryelizabethrose Only adjusting I did was just to move the nosepieces a little bit. You could try taking them to your eye doctor or in to Lenscrafters to see if they'll adjust them if you need to. (They really should offer a $5 adjustment service.) Depends on the person a lot of times. And adjustments are one of the arguments they make for charging so much for their frames and service.

  • Nice reviews. After discovering the Glassyeyes blog, I decided to try buying eyeglasses online. I have gotten glasses from 39dollarglasses and both pairs were correct and well made. For $106 and change, I managed to get 2 nice looking pairs from 39dollarglasses with polycarbonate lenses and all the coatings, which is less than I normally spend for one pair of boring glasses when I buy in a store. I'm a convert, I plan to buy online from now on.

  • @RedStickHam Great! I've looked at 39dollarglasses and just never saw any styles that I liked. But have heard many good things about them. Zenni just offers a lot more unique looking frames, so I go with them.

  • @lewister6232

I liked what they had to offer so I used them. I have also tried GlassesUSA, they have some nice frames as well. I've bought 4 pairs of glasses online for what it would cost me for one or two. The brick/mortar optical shops should start getting nervous.

  • I've just heard about Zenni and came across your review. I, too, need a strong prescription and normally my glasses cost me around $300. What's the catch? Also, do you have to pay extra for the thin lenses? I need the "coke bottle" lenses if I don't pay extra for the thin ones. Thanks for the review!

  • @eyeswideopen85 No catch that I know of. We've ordered almost 20 pairs over the last couple of years with no problem. And yes, you pay extra for the higher-index (thinner) lenses. I don't bother if I have a full rim frame, but get the 1.61 for my half-rim styles (like $17 more). You can get the 1.67 if you like, but it's like $37 more. Still far, far cheaper than other options, but I've never paid for those.

  • All the glasses look really good on you!

  • @lsn2jah Thanks so much! Just got notice from eye doctor it was time to come in for another check-up. Hopefully any new glasses will also look great.

  • I'm just curious as to which lenses you chose for the sunglasses. My rx is kinda outrageous, and the zenni site tells me that tint is not available on 1.67 lenses. My first pair of regular glasses is on the way, but i'm definitely interested in following them up with a pair of sunglasses.

  • @eggwolio I just have the standard lenses in the sunglasses. Yes, they're thicker, but since it's a full-rimmed frame, you don't notice so much. I only pay for the lighter lens when I get a half-rim style.

  • Thanks for the great review of your glasses! I just ordered a pair of sunglasses and am very excited to receive them!

  • How long did Zenni Optical take to ship your orders? Sorry if I missed it in the video.

  • @1HeartnSoul I believe it took about three weeks. Usually it's two, but because of my prescription strength, it takes a little longer. Got a confirmation email when they were shipped and they arrived no problem.

  • my current glasses are a 128 what is the largest I could get by with for a everyday glasses.

Would a 137 be to big like your red ones?

  • @andersonsrus Maybe. Hard to say since I don't know what you look like. :-) Best advice I can give would be to go to Lensmasters or Sears optical and try stuff on. See what works for you, what doesn't. Given your prescription, you're going to be making a significant investment so it might be worth the time. Skinny frames like the red ones might not be as big a deal if they're wide as opposed to thick ones like the green.

  • You said one pair was to narrow. Where do I meaure to get the correct frame width

  • @andersonsrus If you already have a pair of glasses that fit you well, the frame width may be printed on the arm. If not, just measure across the front of them from edge to edge with a ruler. That will give you an idea of the frame size range you want to shoot for. For me, it's 132-136MM across, so that's the size frame I look for. The gray pair were in the 125 range - fit OK, but just look narrower than my head.

  • also a couple of??

On the lense type I have a -4.75 and a -4.50 with astingmatism what hig index lense would you suggest. ALso when ordering sunglasses besides the 80% tint so you also order those with anti reflective coating.

    Thanks

  • @andersonsrus My prescription isn't quite as strong as yours, but still pretty strong. I just get the regular mid-index for full frames like the green and purple ones, then the 1.61 high index when it's a half frame like the red and grey ones. I used to get the 1.67 high index, but it's just so much more expensive that I don't bother anymore.

Sunglasses - to me, the anti-reflective coating is best for sitting at a monitor, so I didn't bother putting it on my sunglasses. Just the others.

  • what are the item#'s on these 4 glasses

  • @andersonsrus They no longer carry the gray pair, but all the rest are still there. SKU numbers are as follows - Green ones – 2255, Purple ones 23101, Red ones - 3659. You can put the number in the search box on the left side and they'll show you all the color options for them.

  • Hey, no problem. Happy to help our north American friends anytime.

  • Hey babe, love ur review but you maybe need a better grasp of the metric system. I'm sure you would never wear glasses that are 133 cm (approx 52 inches) unless of course you were doing an Elton John Dame Edna Everage impesonation.

  • @woftam123 Ha! Excellent point! Never even stopped to consider, I just processed it as centimeters when I was measuring. I suppose millimeters makes more sense. :-)

  • Unfortunately, Zenni Optical increased the prices on several items. Lenses (other than the standard 1.57 index ones) cost 3 Dollars more. Also, postage to Canada has doubled - it's now 10 Dollars instead of previously 5 Dollars.

  • Well I bought two of them two weeks ago friday and got them today..WOW..everyone at worked liked them and I have forwarded the zenni website to many

  • I measured the temple length again it is 140. The reason it was short was I did not measure from the frame back to the tip of the ear piece. I went ahead and ordered these I think everything will be fine now. Thanks for all the help :)

  • I am trying to make sure that my sizing is correct so they will fit right ? When I measured lens width 48, lens height 34, bridge size 22, frame width 132, temple 103. Can some of the sizes be smaller then that ? The size of the frames I was looking at is Lens Width 52mm, Height 30mm, Bridge 19mm

Frame Width 135mm, Temple Arm Length 140mm. Its hard to tell if they will fit do you oversize yours so you make sure they fit ?

  • @Comptekhs There will always be compromises on the measurements. I have a set range for the two things that matter to me - frame width and lens height. As long as a pair fell in the range, I considered them. Then, I kind of ignored the other things. Only thing that seems off on what you've measured to me is temple length. 103 is what you'd find in a kid's size. I wouldn't go for something too far off of what you know fits you. Measuring current glasses or found a pair at the store that fit?

  • hows the size? its a preset size right? does it fit alright?

  • @joshuag94 Glasses come in lots of different sizes. You need to know the right measurements for you - frame width, temple length, etc. If you know those, you can pick a frame that fits just fine. (Me, I screwed up on one pair, but it was my fault for not paying closer attention to the frame width number.)

  • @lewister6232 But dont they only give your the option of choosing your pupil width. are u able to choose any other measurments?

  • @joshuag94 Each frame comes in set measurements, they don't customize the frames. When you're looking at frames, you need to check those yourself to make sure you're buying one that works; the frame description tells you what they are for that specific frame. If you need a frame in 135cm width, make sure you aren't buying one that is 125 wide. There are always going to be frames you won't be able (or want) to buy because the size isn't right. Unfortunately.

  • just bought two for $68..cant wait to get them..next if they work out..Im getting straightup sunglasses..

  • Given the good value and quality of the glasses it is most likely that I'm going to order new pairs of glasses from Zenni in the near future. I hope this information is somewhat

    useful for others.

  • A signature was required. Luckily my delivery address was at my working place and so the receptionist signed for me.

I'm quite happy with the glasses although they are looking a bit different than on Zenni's webpage. The glasses came in a quite

robust plastic box with a microfiber lens cleaning cloth.

The value of my order was debited against my credit card right away. Although it took in total 15 days from the day I've orderd till the delivery day.

  • @lewister6232 and others: Just a couple hours after my posting I've received a confirmation from Zenni with tracking number. It was a tracking number for Hong Kong post but also worked for Canada Post. Essentially the Canada Post website displayed that my

glasses went through Canadian Customs and thereafter got delivered.

  • Aw, thanks! The red ones are really thin and light, but pretty sturdy as are others that I've ordered. No problems here after more than 10 pair. And any glasses will scratch if you aren't careful with them. Five months and these still look good!

  • @lewister6232 or others:

Does one get a confirmation email from Zenni Optical once the glasses are sent off? If so, does the email have a tracking number?

  • @FrauLahnstein I don't remember getting one. In fact, I think they just magically showed up one day. I had almost forgotten about them. And it took about three weeks too because of my prescription. I'd give it another week since you ordered a special lens - that might take longer. And if you do contact them, remember to follow their steps. My understanding is that they don't respond well if you try something other than the stated procedure.

  • Just saw someone else who said they got a confirmation email, so maybe. I just don't remember for me this last time.

  • @lewister6232: Thank you for your advice!

I've ordered two pairs exactly two weeks ago.

Unfortunately I didn't wait for your answer and so ordered the 1.67 lenses. I'm living in Canada. So far, I haven't received them yet. However, I've read some negative reviews on the internet. Now, I'm a bit concerned that the glasses will be delivered with a huge delay and of poor quality.

  • @FrauLahnstein Can't comment on shipping to Canada. And I wouldn't give Zenni high marks for the customer service/touch aspect. But I'm not paying for that, which is the whole point. :-)

  • You look good!

  • Hi!! Just wanted to thank you for posting this review on zenni, as I just ordered from them for the 1st time...never ordered glasses online before, so seeing this made me feel a lil' better about it :)

  • Hi guys,

it is worth to pay $17 resp. $37 extra for the high index lenses of 1.61 resp. 1.67? My prescription is -3.50 (right eye) and -3.25 (left). Thanks!

  • @FrauLahnstein Sounds like your script is pretty close to mine. I go for the 1.61 ($17 more) when I have a half-rim frame. Otherwise, the lens thickness and weight are just too much. If it's a full-rim frame, I just do the standard 1.57. I used to get the 1.67 when I was buying at the doc, but it's not proven to be necessary.

  • my glasses are a green color with awesome decoration for boys kid glassesboy i wish you guys con see this. Also the glasses are squared what is cool today

  • Thanks to Zenni I now have pair of glasses for each car, TV room and bedside, all for about $60. Note there is no separate sunglasses section -- any pair can be sunglasses (choose color and opacity). Some of the frames didn't look great on me but they work fine. You may waste some $ on ill-suited frames but you could order 10-20 different pairs for about same price as typical opticician. Only problem: Jan 11-12 their website has been down. Hope they're still in business...

  • Great info thanks I will be ordering !!!

    The Mills Connection Show

  • Thanks for the review. Found your review by putting Zenni in the YouTube search bar. I also have astigmatism and a "bad" prescription. Been researching Zenni to see if they may be the right thing for me. The frames you chose are really cool! Thanks again for a great review!

  • I have really HIGH prescription... SPH Right (-9.50) Left (-10.50) I have astigmatism too.Are the high index lenses from zenni optical the same as other stores?I'm also confused as to picking out frames. You mentioned measurements. How can i measure or find out what size of frame width I would need? I would really like to buy from zenni optical but i'm too scared to buy a too big size of frames and not still have too much of a coke bottle lense effect.

    thank you in advance!

  • @ImLmeansiluvU

I've bought from Zenni ((very happily!) and have a high prescription and an astigmatism too. The Pupillary Distance (PD) measurement should be accurate & Zenni form will not allow you to order a lens if the PD isn't the right size for the width of the lens.

As to coke bottle effect...their regular lenses aren't bad at all but you can also order the thinner 1.61 or 1.67 lenses at $17 or $37 extra. I'm perfectly fine with their 1.57 index lens.

Good luck and have fun shopping!

  • I haven't noticed any real difference in lenses from Zenni.

Frame size - I got out a ruler and measured a pair I liked to get an idea of the measurement range I wanted. Most frames will have the lens width, bridge (over the nose) width and temple (arm) length printed on one of the arms of the glasses, so start there if you have a pair you like. Measure lens height and total frame width across the front (in cm) with a ruler and that should be all you need to get a frame size that works for you.

  • A lot of sites have measuring guides, then just go measure a pair you have that fit your face well.

  • wow, wonderful review and nice looking glasses! :D so helpful.

  • Comment removed

  • hello! i really like your first two pairs of eyeglasses. Do they both have anti-reflective on them? Also how long did it take to receive your pair? thanks!

  • I got the anti-reflective on both those pairs. Although the angle of the light I was using doesn't make it look that way. How long? i'm not precisely sure as I didn't keep track but probably 2-3 weeks since I have a strong prescription. Hubby's usually arrive in 1-2 weeks.

  • Great video and super cute glasses! What's the frame# on the first 2 pairs?

  • nice glasses! what's the prescription of them?

  • uber strong! I am very nearsighted with a lot of astigmatism so I have to get a really strong prescription. Sigh.
