It's because slap lends itself so well to E. Nothing like thumping the E string really hard! You're right though...it does get a bit overused.

i like the riff champ. Nice work. Louis Johnson style perhaps? You own style of course. Check out 'primus style epic' the start is shit but the guts of the riff are sweet and the second riff is right up your alley.
