I love this song. It goes back quite a way, but it sounds as wonderful today as it did then. OMG such a good song - love it!!! Thank you so much as I had not heard this in ages. A Great Post.
Listen to his voice. Tell me which one of these youngsters today can sing this song with the range and emotion of Jackie. NOBODY. Usher can't. Neither can any of the others (can't think of their names).
Sadly in the case of soul music the world has gone "backwards" I see so many young people amazed at the quality of this superb music, some of this stuff is 30/40 years old. The new breed today cannot get near it. Stop the covers, stop the rap go away and write some music and create something! :))
@TooDarnSoulful When kids are born and raised today, they get the junk that is presented to them. They don't know any better. Anyone who grew up with the older stuff can't stand the junk today.
What makes this song (besides Jackie, of course) is the presence of the Motown Records musicians, who often did work outside of Motown because Berry Gordy paid them so terribly.
Who is the "Peaches" he's talking about?

so right on, Jackie was the best then, now and forever more...
no one can touch his voice, swag, moves, looks and charm.
When he walked on stage he set our "Soul's On Fire", and still

What a great song this is!!! Jackie Wilson will always be remembered for his towering voice.
This song is one of those very seldom heard and should be played more often by radio stations across the country.
