does anyone know if these are illegal in the U.S. from my understanding they never sold this one here. Im considering buying one from the U.K. and shipping it here.
@impreziv for better acceleration...... when you launch an AWD car, it will bog. with launch control it will allow boost to be made and the car will not bog. pretty simple logic...
All drag cars use a form of launch control, and just about every aftermarket, and even some factory ECUs have launch control built in
@rotor13 i'm seriously doubting you know anything about drag racing at all. or even AWD cars. launch control retards the ignition to cut power to the engine, to stop the wheels from spinning. if an AWD car "bogs", that is a result of having not enough power to overcome your traction. Traction control would do the opposite of solving your problem... there is a healthy amount of wheelspin necessary to launch an AWD car. i have been drag-racing an R32 Skyline GTR for the past 4 years
@impreziv your Skyline is RWD biased and torque split is more rearward, Evos are FWD biased and their torque split is much greater at the front the same as Subaru.
Launch control in an Evo is beneficial because you are not bogging and you are in boost allowing the driver to modulate the clutch for better traction without spinning the wheels as much as simply dumping the clutch because the car doesnt have launch control.
Traction control is in some ways counter productive
@rotor13 sorry, youre wrong. No Evos or STis were ever front-bias AWD. All Evos from version 1-6 were 50:50 torque split. version 7-9 had an active centre differential, which was rear-bias. All Subaru STi models have an active centre diff called DCCD, which is rear bias. non-STI model WRXs have a locked 50:50 centre diff.
and traction control does nothing for boost, it only hurts it. killing your ignition to stop wheelspin reduces exhaust gas, there is no denying this logic.
@impreziv I never mentioned STI's... and YES, Evo's are NATURALLY FWD biased because of its engine position, as it is an AWD system based off a FWD setup.
@rotor13 lol, please do some research before trying to educate people. The position of the engine has nothing to do with the centre diff bias. The evo does mount the engine in a transverse position, but that doesn't make it front-bias. I have built 3 Evos from Mitsubishi mirage frames, using evo 6 and 9 drivetrains. I have also worked on numerous evo transmissions. Trust me, I know how they function :)
@impreziv DUDE! im planning to build a evo V from a mirage! about how long does the whole project take? i wanna do a full awd conversion and body conversion with LHD
@xThatGuyZ asking how long it takes is probably a bad question. get yourself an Evo 4/5/6 shop manual, a Mirage shop manual wouldnt hurt either. study the procedures for dis/reassembly of the entire drivetrain and suspension system. from the Evo 4/5/6 you will need the rear-diff, subframes, suspension, wheelhubs, brakes, and axles/driveshaft. you can take the engine/transmission/transfercase from any Evo 4-9. just make sure you match the front+rear diff drive-ratios
@impreziv just a heads up, take the rear differential from an RS model Evo 4-6. they dont have AYC (which is a headache to setup properly). the RS model just has a standard LSD, which is much lighter than that AYC nonsense.

@impreziv i meant.... like, how long did it take you? itll probably take me a little less than a year to save cash and get it finished in between school and stuff.
@xThatGuyZ the first one I did without any help, and it took me about 2 months. it was basically me installing everything exactly from the Evo 6 as-is into a Mirage sedan. it was easy, because i just made sure I had all the wiring harnesses and such beforehand. the next 2 i did with Evo 9 engines (easier and cheaper to source from North America).
@impreziv As for traction control, thats completely different from Launch control..... did you read ANYTHING i said in the context that i intended it?
can you post more specs on this E6 TME? I like the wastegate chutter, probably running a custom turbo and IC and turbo pipe setup with external wastagate. Just wondering what brands... thanks
