Ritter was one of those actors who could perform comedy and also be insanely dramatic in a role. His performance in Sling Blade was excellent, but he will always be remembered for being a class act and his many talents.
Ritter's death shocked the hell out of me. I was in my bed 5:00 in the morning watching the news. The anchors said breaking news from Hollywood John Ritter died and I swear I left my mouth open for minutes afterwards. I LOVED 8 Simple Rules . Then minutes later Johnny Cash...... Two celebs dying on the same day is too damn much.
Growing up I wanted to be like him. I wanted to make other people happy, make them laugh...even if it cost me a few bruises. Thanks for inspiring me to bring laughter to others. This video gave me tears. Thanks John. :*-)
you know, he is honestly the LAST person I thought I would die in Hollywood, however, it seems to me he looked quite bloated and unhealthy somewhat towards the end...not sure if its just me or if its just that he was aging but something seemed off, bless his dear heart - RIP John
Death is apart of life.GOD has promised death to all of mankind.if you believe in GOD are not..his word remains ture. every soul shall taste death...even if man can lived to be 1000 years old.let him know he will still die.everything that comes into this world will soon one day perish.no matter how bad we want to stay alive .we will all die..
@uhernandez55 and the sad part was that it was also the same day as his daughter's fifth birthday. I feel bad for his daughter, having a terrorist attack on her third birthday and her father passing away on her fifth birthday! Poor girl.
After I finished watching two seasons of threes company and getting hooked my mom says at the end, he's dead .. Thanks mom-_- it sucks though. He was great
I was on my way to work when the news broke. Someone on the bus I was on brought it up. A few people said "oh god, him?" Bit of a sad bus ride. Sort of like losing a family member or a really good friend.
he died so young. only 54 he could have lived longer i wish i would have met him. he inspired me to want to be an actress. and i'm gonna become one. i'm just heart broken
I remember Jonh Ritter from 8 Simple Rules but I also remember him as the voice of Clifford the Big Red Dog from the series that premired in 2000 on PBS.
wow has it been that long already that crazy!!! I would like to see the episode of "8 Simple Rules" after John's death but I can't seem to find the episode =/
@mimato if you get the family channel they show 8 Simple Rules and they show that episode ...its called goodbye ...and its so sad to watch ...my girlfriend watched it with me its a hour long and she cried about 50 min of that hour ..if you ever see it you will see what i mean
@TheSteelersrock1010 As in ABC family right? I do have the channel in fact and I use to watch it a few years ago but they cancelled the show so my only safe option is to buy the DVD thanks though! =3
@Maximilus that whole show had talent that whole cast was such good friends off camera and they all cared about him and each other ..but the whole show was filled with talent and i am sure john ritter would agree ...may he RIP
Thank you for such a wonderful Tribute and short documentary of John.only thing that was missing was his perfotrmances in movies such as "sling blade" he did every role to perfection..RIP sweet heart
Every Tuesday 8:00 PM THREES COMPANY was on. Susan thought wrong, well not her, her money hungry husband assume his was the hit star, laugh at your face, John Ritter wouldn't leave the show like as she done. Turn tables around, if John (Jack Tripper) left the show, right there and then the show could've cancel on the spot. John & Joyce thank you for keeping the show running, include the staff. John many will miss you and your laughs.
i remember picking up the news paper and seeing on the front page actor john ritter dies i was like (WHAT) i couldn't believe i was reading that it brought tears to my eyes right there ...i grew up watching him from threes company up to 8 simple rules he was a great actor and we did lose a funny man and i still watch threes company on tv land and 8 simple rules on the family channel every day and i still laugh but i do think to myself i can't believe he gone (RIP) JOHN RITTER .you will be missed
I remember when they anounced this and I couldn't believe it. My mom and I watched the episode they made on 8 Simple Rules where they said that "Paul had a heart attck." He was a great actor and he will always be missed and in our hearts.
R.I.P. John Ritter. Can't believe it's been over 7 yrs--still remember it like yesterday. Threes Company & 8 Simple Rules are my all-time favorite sitcoms.
He had a recurring role as the Reverend Matthew Fordwick on the Waltons in the mid seventies. He did such a good job in this role that you couldn't imagine him as a comic RIP
Watched John Ritter since i was about 8 on Threes a Company and his new show before he died brought me back to those days. The man was so hillarious and to this day i still tear up seeing this, to early and to damn funny, You will always be remembered John.
He died 2 months after my dad passed. Unexpected, as well. I was the same age as Jason. It's hard and sad. It's still sad. John Ritter was a comedic genius!!! I watch clips of him, and cannot stop laughing!
I LOVE him I am currently on season 6 of 3's CO-I am watching them all in order. He was too young to leave. Never take life for granted -A horrible coincidence I lost my mom and brother within this past year. John is helping me smile while I going through something I never thought I would feel. :(
@FilipinoIcon504 Oh NO my o my I was just a tiny kid when that show was out!!! I had been watching the show from season 1 and then all the seasons in order I said I was on season 6-WATCHING IT!! :)
So sad, my mom and I used to watch Threes Company all the time. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I noticed that Mr. Ritter did seem to have a rather unhealthy "puffy" appearance in his later years.
Yeah , that was a real sad one. I grew up with Ritter. A lot of us did. Such a great actor , unfortunatly not a lot of people have seen his more serious dramatic work as well.
@jayce79 Yes so true. He was so well known for his comedic genious, but John Ritter was also a good dramatic actor. Some of those scenes as Paul H. with daughter Kerry on 8SR, how they would fight & then work things out...a good example of his more serious acting, along with other roles in movies.
@MrEvan8689 i love John Ritter as Paul Hennessy because he reminds me of me as a father. Paul Hennessy always cared about his wife and kids and he always looked out for his daughters from what kind of boyfriend where they bringing home always wanted to know what his daughters was up to who they was hanging with he just played the makings of a good father and i always feel that i can relate to Paul Hennessy ...and Paul Hennessy was played by a very great actor ..one of the best
@SidJustice1 Henry also did a tribute to John at the beginning of the few episodes of Hollywood Squares that he appeared in (those H2 episodes were taped just days before John's passing, and they were aired in October 2003).
He was a GREAT man. Coming up on 7 years later and I still haven't fully coped with his untimely loss. It's hard to imagine how his family is doing missing his presence every day of their lives. Irreplaceable is a perfect description of this man...RIP
When John got to heaven, Jackie Gleason was sure to thank him for paying tribute to him with the spit take. They probably also talked about what made The Hooneymooners and 3's Company so great.
On his little girl's birthday? tht is just sooo sad. It must of been so weird for all of them, tht just a day or a week ago, he was up and lively and then he's just gone in a second. I never saw him on anything else but he was a great funny father on 8 simple rules. RIP JOHN
My Grandfather died the same way he did. It's so sad to think that someone so young would pass away that way. He will be sorely missed. and I will always miss my grandfather as well.
@tanquantwal so sad, and so shocking, I went through something similar so I understand when you just can't imagine someone being gone and not being here any more. Interestingly she was only 54 as well.
This made me cry. This guy is a great actor. Farewell.
