Ritter was one of those actors who could perform comedy and also be insanely dramatic in a role. His performance in Sling Blade was excellent, but he will always be remembered for being a class act and his many talents.

Ritter's death shocked the hell out of me. I was in my bed 5:00 in the morning watching the news. The anchors said breaking news from Hollywood John Ritter died and I swear I left my mouth open for minutes afterwards. I LOVED 8 Simple Rules . Then minutes later Johnny Cash...... Two celebs dying on the same day is too damn much.

I was on my way to work when the news broke. Someone on the bus I was on brought it up. A few people said "oh god, him?" Bit of a sad bus ride. Sort of like losing a family member or a really good friend.

I remember Jonh Ritter from 8 Simple Rules but I also remember him as the voice of Clifford the Big Red Dog from the series that premired in 2000 on PBS.

@mimato if you get the family channel they show 8 Simple Rules and they show that episode ...its called goodbye ...and its so sad to watch ...my girlfriend watched it with me its a hour long and she cried about 50 min of that hour ..if you ever see it you will see what i mean

Every Tuesday 8:00 PM THREES COMPANY was on. Susan thought wrong, well not her, her money hungry husband assume his was the hit star, laugh at your face, John Ritter wouldn't leave the show like as she done. Turn tables around, if John (Jack Tripper) left the show, right there and then the show could've cancel on the spot. John & Joyce thank you for keeping the show running, include the staff. John many will miss you and your laughs.

i remember picking up the news paper and seeing on the front page actor john ritter dies i was like (WHAT) i couldn't believe i was reading that it brought tears to my eyes right there ...i grew up watching him from threes company up to 8 simple rules he was a great actor and we did lose a funny man and i still watch threes company on tv land and 8 simple rules on the family channel every day and i still laugh but i do think to myself i can't believe he gone (RIP) JOHN RITTER .you will be missed

Watched John Ritter since i was about 8 on Threes a Company and his new show before he died brought me back to those days. The man was so hillarious and to this day i still tear up seeing this, to early and to damn funny, You will always be remembered John.

He died 2 months after my dad passed. Unexpected, as well. I was the same age as Jason. It's hard and sad. It's still sad. John Ritter was a comedic genius!!! I watch clips of him, and cannot stop laughing!

I LOVE him I am currently on season 6 of 3's CO-I am watching them all in order. He was too young to leave. Never take life for granted -A horrible coincidence I lost my mom and brother within this past year. John is helping me smile while I going through something I never thought I would feel. :(

So sad, my mom and I used to watch Threes Company all the time. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I noticed that Mr. Ritter did seem to have a rather unhealthy "puffy" appearance in his later years.

@jayce79 Yes so true. He was so well known for his comedic genious, but John Ritter was also a good dramatic actor. Some of those scenes as Paul H. with daughter Kerry on 8SR, how they would fight & then work things out...a good example of his more serious acting, along with other roles in movies.

Paul Hennessy always cared about his wife and kids and he always looked out for his daughters from what kind of boyfriend where they bringing home always wanted to know what his daughters was up to who they was hanging with he just played the makings of a good father and i always feel that i can relate to Paul Hennessy ...and Paul Hennessy was played by a very great actor ..one of the best
