The first time I got the Green Ring on Floor 21, one of those blue things hit me...and it passed right through me without killing me. I thought that the game was glitched up...until I actually took the time to read the Green Ring's effect.

i got to level 21 before and i always die because of those fire balls that kill me. I didn't know what to do though. But i got to level 25 by avoiding them and sheer luck :D

20: farthest I've EVER gotten on this game. (DS) Their is a hint for an item in the game that says it unlocks a treasure chest at floor 83, which I thought was absurd before I saw this playthrough. I would have been able to go farther, only if I could actualy save the game and if I had gotten the book of light on floor 19.

@TetelsnTetev Actually, The Tower of Druaga was released in 1984. The Return of Ishtar (the sequel to this game) was released in 1986. Then there was The Quest of Ki in 1988. And finally there was The Destiny of Gilgamesh in 1994.
