Creating and Printing on Acrylic Skins with GOLDEN Acrylics and Digital Grounds

@kennyhokeanseng Hi - sorry for the delay in responding! To make the skins we use our GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics. Really any colors you like will work. Then we used our GOLDEN Digital Ground for Non-Porous Surfaces, applying two coats and letting each one fully dry. Really, that's about it - very simple and basic to do. love your ALL your prouducts ! -very excited about using this -only concern is can the skin be placed in a tray feeder of a printer? you only show printer with a top feed ?

Hi -

Thanks for the compliments, we really appreciate it!

A front tray feeder is definitely the most difficult as the paper path is typically a U shape, and that sharp curve around can cause problems. Does your printer allow for a straight path through from the back? Some have that feature for thicker media, like poster board. Otherwise, if wanting to print on a skin, we would probably recommend trying to find a printer with either a top feed or straight path that you can work with.

@mylight1223 Hi - and thanks for the comments! We would not recommend a bottom tray feeder where the paper travels in a 'U' shape. However, we have had success with a top feeder, where the paper path is more 'L' shaped. Best, of course, is when you can feed it from the back directly.

Does anyone know if you're supposed to use different Ground for printing on different fabrics?

In the examples at the end they list Digital Ground for non-porous surfaces on polyester fabric, but Digital Ground Clear Gloss on cloth (which I'm assuming means cotton).

I'm looking to print on cotton or cotton/poly fabric for use in apparel, so I'm also wondering about the washability of these mediums.

Any help greatly appreciated~ Thanks in advance!

Hi - thanks for the question!

The Non-Porous was recommended on polyester because this material is very non-absorbent by nature. However, on something absorbent, like cotton, the Clear (Gloss) would be recommended.

Unfortunately, however, both of these grounds are highly water sensitive and would easily wash off, so we DO NOT recommend using them on any fabrics meant to be worn or laundered.
