Whoever says you don't get enough protein from a vegan diet clearly didn't watch this video. And trust me when I say, they aren't the only three vegan athletes out there. Humans are natural herbivores... as 90% of anthropologists today will tell you... back in the stone age they only ever ate meat to survive, but subsisted off of plants very well the majority of the time, and whenever they ate meat their life expectancy was a LOT lower.
@AdamPikramenos I don't think aloe vera would be sufficiant... but anyway we do only need amino acid, if you absorb a protein as it is (without brokin it down into amino acids) you're in big trouble. The body won't recognize it and will think it's a virus or something (virus, bacteria, etc are all proteins). This happen very often with dairy, and that is the reason it's associated with all sort of auto-immune disease.
better sources when meat? well walnuts, hazelnuts, cashew nuts, poppy seeds hemp seeds.i take in a giant dark green salad with is 30g protein, 200g of nuts which is 30g protein. I can easyly eat 70g of rawvegan protein a day. And its amazing what strength and endurance u can get in such a short period of training. Its overwhelming.
Nah man... meat is not cheap at all but I agree with the fact that peanut butter has too many calorie(comming from fat) but... so does most meat... ''lean'' beef is like 30 % fat... the cheapest source of protein is without any doubt legumes.
You can buy 60-90g of protein for like 2 dollars. 3 pieces of chicken. It's only about 200 calories for a piece with 30g protein and it's also full of iron and other things. Legumes are like 5 grams of protein per 100 grams, which is very weak.
Ive never seen chicken that cheap... and chicken is a POOR source of iron. Most legume are around 30% protein and contain little or no fat,no cholesterol, far less(or no) pesticide, fungicide, herbicide, and other contaminant trace than meat, no hormone no heterocyclic amines compound that is found in meat when it's cooked. There's MANY other reasons why meat is not good but I wont go into detail. Also legume are one of the best source of iron,up to 40% of daily requirements.
Tofu too is a great source of protein(and the BEST source of arginine which is really important for building muscle) it's REALLY CHEAP I buy it for 2 dollard(Canadian) for 3 packages... it's 51g of protein for a block of tofu, it's rich in iron(more than chicken ;) ) rich in calcium, in MAGNESIUM (crucial for muscle contraction and so many other things...) also good source of zinc and an excellent source of copper! :)
Well name one thing that's a better source of iron than meat? Meat does not contain fungicide, herbicide or pesticide. Only vegetables contain these things due to farming. Legumes do not have complete amino acids and contain non-heme iron, humans can only intake 1-7% of the total iron in legumes. That's nothing.
Spirulina have WAY MORE iron than meat (better absorbed to), most legume have more iron than dead carcass and it's a good thing that's its not heme iron... because it causes damage to the intestine (one of the reason meat eater have far more colon cancer), also nuts and seed have more iron than meat, chlorella, Aphanizomenon flos-aqua, creal product, hemp seed, etc... I take like 10 times the amount of iron required and I'm a vegan...
Meat contain fungicide, herbicide and pesticide, because they eat crops spreaded with these ... it's called bioaccumulation. There's more pesticide in meat than in any other food. Legume is complete protein source (there's no such things as incomplete amino acid by the way... protein are made up with amino acid.. a protein is called incomplete when it doesn't contain all the essential amino acid) the reason why people say it's incomplete it's because legume sometime are low in certain amino acid
so with the same logic meat is NOT a complete protein, because when it's cooked HALF the tryptophan is destroyed which is the reason the PDCAAS(protein quality) of beef is inferior than 50(that mean it's a really weak protein source) contrary to around 80 to 130 for most vegan protein sources. Iron absorbtion in vegetable source can be up to 25% when it's consumed with vitamine C it's probably more for spirulina, chlorella and other micro algea. Please get informed... and stop saying anything.
Yeah meat is still the superior source, beans are cooked too you know? meat tho can be eaten raw unlike legumes. 25% will make absolutely no difference when you think about it.
Look like you think beans is the only vegab source of protein... you must not know a lot about nutrition to think so... 25 % iron absorbtion is the maximum absorbtion you cain obtain from animal source so once again you clearly know nothing about nutrition. I can understand you're trying to maintain your belief to still feel good about the way you eat but please stop commenting with unbased arguments on my video.
Beans and..uhm..nuts? soy curd? protein is found in all foods but I think I'll stick to getting mine from meat and milk. 25% is already much better than 1%, pluse with vitamin C I can get that up right ;)
Eastern Slavic is trying to justify his method of eating. Without proper scientific argument, his argument is overwhelmingly full of fallacy. I'm personally trying to go vegan. I'm a vegetarian at the moment and am planning on going full out vegan.
With all the saturated fat, toxins, hormones and antibiotics in meat, I find it contradictory to ingest meat for fitness purposes.
I am not a vegan but a lactovegetarian. People always say that I am lacking animal protein and that's not good. As I know, vegans don't at all consume any animal protein and yet they remain fit. People out there speak whatever that enter their mind. I guess it's time to people to use their sixth sense.
If you are Vegan, You need to Watch this YT video, You will win any Debate with a Carnivore every time ! We've ALL been lied to about Protein , you do Not need it !
I am a vegan, and yes, humans do need protein, BUT most meat eaters actually consume TOO MUCH, which is bad for the kidneys. It is VERY easy to get the proper amount of protein from beans, nuts, and vegetables alone.
I`m a vegetarian bodybuilder and I need a lot of protein (about 2 grams per kilogram of body weight) in order to grow, if I don't I just lose muscle mass. Proteins are essential in everyone`s diet. People do NEED plenty of proteins (usually around 1 gr per kg body weight)
Sorry mate. Ask any nutritional expert and they'll say he's wrong. Tens of tens of years of scientific reasearch won't and have not been proven wrong by Mr. Tim right there.
Well he's not really wrong... it's true that we don't need protein but amino acids, but yeah we take most of our amino acid from protein. I guess as a raw foodist he eat more food with free amino acids, like green leafy vegetable for example.
you're awesome ;)!!!!!

I think that's another reason why whey protein is so good cuz it contains 9 essential muscle building amino acids like aloe which contains 11
AdamPikramenos 2 years ago
well if all we need is amino acids then we should all eat aloe plants for muscles because they contain 11 essential amino acids =]
