The guy with the clapboard at the beginning is Kit Lambert I think, which would mean this is AFTER they had used the name "High Numbers" and gone back to the Who.
Wasn't it all really just the same song from this out? Isn't there really just one of us here, and the rest are done with mirrors? Strange how all the dynamics are all quite in focus here to be amplified later. At their purest and their finest. All downhill from here??? "Socrates1818" we know that answer already, don't we? peace&light 2 all here.
@Monoloptic they were the who before a manager suggested they be the high numbers until their songs failed than they went back to the who. So the band name the who was used for them before this video
@spinalCJ I kind of thought he didn't start singing like this until later on. His voice on a lot of the early albums is more smooth But I guess he could always sing this way.
you know, this is a really good example of how they'd usually play: John's bass is really loud and keeping time, Pete checking his amplifier and adding rhythm riffs, Keith kind of keeping time but filling in, and Roger with his back to everything getting lost in singing to the audience...
i think things didn't change too much later on, except Keith would get a lot more impatient and Pete wouldn't have to check the amplifiers as often
Amazing how much better musicians they seem on "My Generation" which is... a year later? Here, they sound kind of green. By 1965, they're virtuosos. How'd they do that?
Uppers, Cuban heels, marraccas, and pencil skirts. Soo good.

I think that the High Numbers had talent even though they was very "homely". Best MOD band ever been... and I love mods.

It's always great to catch a band doing a fantastic live performance at a small local place before doing it a big arena.
