You'd never think anyone could adequately cover The Coasters, but The Pipkinssure managed to pull THAT feat off with their version of "Yakety Yak." The brilliant "Gimme Dat Ding" first charted 5/23/70 and reached #9 in the US. It reached #6 in the UK and is, of course, an all-time goodtime classic. "The People Dat You Wanna Phone Ya," in contrast, is just filler.

Do you by any chance have the Pipkins' "To Love You"? Wasn't it also on this album?

Hmm can't say that I do.
It's not on this album, so I guess they did make more than one!

I''m not sure they made another album but I believe "To love you" may have been side B of "Gimme Dat Ding" on their 45er.

I have it on a 45, the flip side of 'Gimme Dat Ding'. Go to my channel 'BADBIKERBENNY' and you will find it.
