Got my 2002 RL for 10k with only 136,000 miles on it. it might not be fast but it will last you at around 35k miles with almost no problems. Its a very nice car.
@masareti Not a good price, it's $50k and is the same price as a comparable 300 hp Mercedes E350 4matic. Yet it's much slower and less fuel efficient and packs less tech and luxury amenities.
I have a 2010 Rl, it's nothing like my Vette..but it is very good at everything it does. Never had a new car that impressed me as much as this one. GREAT product.

they need to shave some weight off the car or add a turbo or v8 or something. its true this car isnt meant to outperform everything in its class but it will out handle with the SH-AWD thats for sure and no car has all the technology this car does either. the only thing this car is lacking is speed and even bmw's, mercedes and audi 6cyl's are slower the 7sec 0-60. for the money this car is the most reliable and technological car you can buy next to the M35.

You've clearly never seen the torque curve of this engine. It has more to do with the 4,000lbs and AWD than the engine. Not to mention that the Hondas keep pulling in the top end, which makes the bottom feel relatively weak, even though it really isn't.
Umm, just my two cents, but I have a 98 camry 4-cyl. with something like 137 hp, and it cruises along at 85 just as well as any 300-hp, $50k infiniti.
BTW, I have driven the new RL, and it is a beautifully made, solid (empahsis on SOLID) car. Wouldn't change a thing.

An M45 Sport Premium costs the roughly the same as a Acura RL; around $55-$60k.
Yes, it is their flagship model, that is correct. The Acura RL does NOT start at 55-60K, it starts in the mid 40's. You tell me any other quality V8 sedan that starts in the mid 40's in this class. All of the other respective competitors have V8 options but they start in the 50s without the same features that the RL offers. It is priced competitively in its class, there is no arguing that. Not everyone wants or needs a V8. Maybe you should check some manufacturer websites for pricing.

If you want to compare base model cars, sure, the RL starts at about $47K and the base M45 starts at $49K; hardly a big difference. I don't need to check sites because I cross-shopped nearly all of the competitors before making my decision. I know what these cars cost, how the drive, how they feel, etc.
Acura RL with Technology Package comes out to $54,415.00. Infiniti M45 Sport w/ Premium Package tops out at $59,350.00. Thats pretty close to my initial $55K-$60K and in my opionion, you get more car with the M; its faster, bigger in nearly every interior/exterior dimension, more power and torque, handles better, looks better IMO, better interior ergonomics and layout, etc. Many agree which again is why the M dominates the magazine comparison tests.
Also I just realized something; for 2008, you can't get an M45 Sport AND Premium package. So the M45 Sport with Advanced Technology (same thing) is $58,215.00.
I'm sorry to say , but that is not impressive at all. I see why the M45 wins almost every comparo against this car. My moms Altima pulls harder AND sounds better. Acura needs to wake the fuck up, and drop in V8 in this thing, or drop the model all together because the RL simply can't compete with its Japanese, German or even American rivals. Plus the interior and exterior styling is akward and an ergonomic nightmare.
My Accord V6 with 46 fewer HP (stock vs stock, 244 vs 290) and no mods is quicker than that.
Don't get me wrong, the RL is a fantastic car (much better than my Accord, as it should be, since it costs twice as much), but it just doesn't have enough torque to overcome its tremendous mass and the extra parasitic loss of its AWD system (versus FWD), which is why it just doesn't perform as a near-300HP car should.
