i cant spin i pull my left arm in first then my right but i dont spin on the backflip i found my direction of spinning which is left because of the other video but i cant spin any help?
@BeyondOurLimits after you take off, just drop your left arm and use your hips to help get the twist around, and as you're doing that drop your other arm and wrap it around tight as well. both those should help get the full twist around :)
I am not sure George understands all of the physics there, even if he uses complicated words ! The goal when we make a twist is not to have an asymetric shape, it's to tilt the body sideways (to transfer a part of the momentum of force to the longitudinal axis - sorry for the complicated words !).
That's why you have to drop one arm sideways, it is not to have an asymetric shape, it's to tilt the body.
And some people even call that twisting technique "tilt".
haha george used to be my gymnastics coach but i went back to silver spirit all stars for my 3rd year. i love cheerleading better i guess. and goerge junior is my new coach now and he's gone:( miss you guys at tumbleweeds i am coming soon for a visit!
I was asked the question: "what initiates the twist?" by an adult gymnast, and I never really was able to answer it properly. This completely made it understandable. Thanks!!! =)
great video, my coach teaches the same thing, he calles it the teapot :)

Great illustration with the hammer! I always wondered how a twist could be initiated without the contact with the apparatus starting it.
