  • so beautiful!

  • I personally prefer the Sandpipers' rendition (which I regard as almost sublime), but did like this one as well and was glad to learn of it. Thanks for posting. :)

  • @pnutbutrncrackers You're welcome.

  • @pnutbutrncrackers my dad has the johnny mathis version of this song

  • Who was this lady? Why have I never heard of her before...let alone her incredible voice?

I can see I'm going to be on eBay tonight hunting for her Lp's. Thanks god for YouTube and thanks to people like you who post these treasures.

  • @petclark1 Thanks for the compliment.

  • A machine just like this one ruined my CD.

I do not trust this machine.

    --- The End ---

  • @DancingSpiderman Maybe you were playing the wrong side of the CD on this machine... :-)

  • @wally1435 haha yeah I flipped the disk over; no go...

Nice song; I never heard of this singer's name before. Same era as Pet Clark?

  • @DancingSpiderman Yeah, she was from around the early '60s through the '70's. Do a You Tube search for the song "For The Love Of Him" and you'll probably recognize the one huge hit she had.

  • @wally1435 Wow, yes... I DO remember "For The Love Of Him", vaguely...

It is Very Bacharach, the entire song is a seaside sunset. Like driving southbound along the scenic route through Rancho Palos Verdes between Hermosa Beach and San Pedro during sunset. Thanks for the tip Wally.

  • @DancingSpiderman You're welcome.

  • Nice job on the A n' the V. Cool editing...n' love the ending whereby you do whatever it is called n' overlay and fade as you pan to layer the cover art upon itself...COOL!

  • @Playback007able Thanks for commenting; it is appreciated. Very easy to do - do you have Windows on your PC? Windows Movie Maker comes packaged free with Windows and that's basically what I use for all of my videos. Pretty good for a free program.

  • I attempted to make a post yesterday at 6:55 p.m. The post didn't seemingly take.

I wanted to say thank you again for this wonderful video; when I first posted about this song--on Wednesday, July 29, 2009--I was going through personal hell (job and relationship loss). I'll never forget that day: it was 102 degrees F here in Seattle.

Flash forward: a little over a year later, I am holding my own. Things are much better and this is one song that provided a much-needed catharsis! Thanks!

  • @rprestridge777 Looks like there was a glitch because all of your messages are here. Again, the healing power of music....!!

  • It's 6:55 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Exactly a year ago this day, at this time, I posted on this site. It was 102 degrees Fahrenheit in Seattle, where I live. Today it's sunny, but only 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I was undergoing a lot of stress last year because of a broken relationship. Bobbi Martin's version of this song helped me out quite a bit. I wanted to post to let everyone know that I'm 180 degrees better; if you're down and out, listen to this great version of this song!

  • @rprestridge777 Glad the song had such a profound effect on you. Music really does heal.

  • I love all Bobbi's songs

  • one of my favorites from Bobbi martin

  • If your in the UK, I could burn you a copy if you want, but if your in America there is no point as it wouldn't play in your DVD player as we are on a different system over here.

  • I heard this song on 690 KCEE and KOY 1230 in Phoenix, Arizona

  • hey man i love Bobbi just her voice make me feel better

really tnx for share the song = )

    have a nice day !!!

  • You are wecome & thanks for your comments.

  • @wally1435 sure thing. I like this type of songs. I do hope to see a re-issue of this song of a singer who was underrated.

  • Beautiful rendition, and a great orchestra, too. What an exhilarating rhythm!

  • Thank you for commenting.

  • A Beautiful song so beautifully sung. Only a song such as this can be tinged with such poignancy. From one of my favourite films of all time 'The Sterile Cuckoo'. I fell in love with Pookie Adams when I first saw it in 1975, I was 15. ( I've just ordered the DVD and bought the book actually).

  • Thanks for commenting; I saw the film when it was released and fell in love with it. Haven't seen it in ages.

  • My DVD arrived today, not watched it all yet, just flicked through the chapters, looks just as I remembered it. I'll give it a proper viewing tomorrow.

  • I tried to line it up at Netflix, but they don't have it availabe......grrrrr! Eventually they'll get it, I'm sure or maybe I'll catch it again one nite on TV somewhere.

I'm sure you'll get fond memories watching your copy!!

  • @MidnightMinstrel I love the film and the song. I have the Johnny Mathis & Ray Coniff version of this song

  • This is a touching song,by a very tender, and talented gal. I was a firend of Bobbi's for 35 Years. Have everything she recorded, was a "deejay" on air,and played her singles to try and get her a hit.

"For The Love Of Him" had to be released twice to finally chart. It was supposed to be her last record for UA. Fortunetely, that DID NOT happen. Thank Youwally1435 for posting this. Who would think 9 Years after Bobbi's passing,so many people were fans. She would be proud!! Thanx,my friend.

  • You're welcome. Thank you for the updates and comments about your friend.

When I uploaded this song I had no idea it would catch on so quickly and get so many viewings. I'm glad she is remembered and also glad that a new generation is discovering her wonderful talent.

  • dennytoby, its unbelievable that `For the Love of Him` had to be released twice. For me, that song was and remains such a stand-out from that era!

  • @musicdoc48 it is true!! It first came out late November 1969,and DIED!! A Philadelphia Pa. Disc Jockey, sarted playing it again around March of 1970,after Bobbi agreed to do a "dance Party" to try to get the record off the ground. It jumped on Billboard Hot 100 the same week, and would end up at Number 9 before it was all over. I blame radio stations. I worked for them, and I know how they operate. One release should have made the record a hit.

  • It is a shame that Bobbi Martin will be remembered as a one-hit wonder with a song that frankly tried to set women back a century...She had a great voice as evidenced by this terrific renditon of "Come Saturday Morning."

  • Thanks for your comments.

  • A beautiful song, sung by a even beautiful woman, inside & out. "For The Love Of Him" is my favorite by Bobbi Martin, (R.I.P.) song & I could listen to that song all day, Peace Gary in PA USA

  • Thanking you for your comments. I also love "For The Love Of Him" and glad to see that others have already uploaded the song.

  • I also prefer this version to the one by the Sandpipers. Bobbi's emotional voice and the 'faster' speed improve the song so much. Apparently a great talent sadly underused.

  • Thanks for your comments.

  • "The Sterile Cuckoo" is one of my favorite films. Not THE favorite, but a favorite.

Thank you for posting this version of "Come Saturday Morning." The more I listen to this version, the more I wish that it had been used in the film. Bobbi Martin has a great voice, and it's a sad commentary on our times that we have few singers like her.

Thanks again, Wally, and have a great Wednesday night. (I'm in Seattle; it's 6:55 p.m. on July 29, 2009, and it is 102 degrees Fahrenheit outside!)

  • You are welcome. Thanks for the nice comments. Glad to see that it has cooled down somewhat for you,

  • Didn't know there was a cover of this song... beautiful. Thank you for posting!

  • You're very welcome.

  • Thank you for this. I love picking this piece on my

    ukulelele. Bob McIntyre Benmiller Ontario

  • a classic

  • Pretty song!

  • Yes it is & if fit the movie "The Sterile Cuckoo" perfectly.
