This voice is a computer program. I have a program that sounds just like this, in an Australian accent too. Please vote up so everyone stops saying how much they hate her voice.
EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO SAVING OUR REEFS. The Aquarium of Niagara (Niagara Falls, NY) is in the running for a grant through the Pepsi Refresh Project. The goal is to build an educational reef display, as well as start a coral propagation program. In order to get the grant they need people to vote for their project.
You can vote by texting 102344 To: 73774 (PEPSI) or get more info by searching "Niagara Reef" on Facebook.
I thought that there were predators which cause this problem too. I'm pretty sure theres a large starfish which leaves coral in the same state. Anyone know?
Who cares about the pronunciation or pleasant tone of voice. This video is very informative to those people who do not understand just how important corals and their reefs are to our planet earth.
This is such an important and concerning topic and people are posting dumb comments about the pronunciation. You guys really missed the point of the video. Its alarming the levels of ignorance. Thats why the world is how it is !!
I Been screaming at Maui's HC&S for allowing runoff to reach the ocean for over 10 years now. The reefs at Hookipa, H-poco, and at Lanes are dead. Enough of the global warming bullshit, it has distracted people to the point of quitting work on the problems with simple solutions and bracketed them all under the heading of "we can't fix it" and walked away. The state of fear is alive and well, the reefs however......
so the zeusenthilli are algae that grow at this characteristic temperature range and kill off plants who would like to invade the coral right? why can't we breed a zeusenthilli that can like in warmer waters? and why don't they exist in the first place .. i mean how many mutations could it take?
The zooxanthellae just feed the coral, it's only if the coral dies of starvation that the other plants take over.
There are zooxanthellae that are resistant to whatever stress causes bleaching, and they could colonize the bleached coral, but like any natural process it takes time, and any direct human intervention would likely throw the whole system out of balance.
That sounded almost like a computer voice narrator. Every sentence had exactly the same ascending-and-descending musical arc. Every sentence was spoken in the same pitch, with the same stresses, and even the same "notes." I had trouble following what she was saying because of the delivery.
Yeah but the thing we are forgetting here is that warmer temperatures are also going to mean that areas that were to cold for coralls to live in are now a perfect habitat for coralls. So they will just move further north.
However, this isn't something that can keep on going forever but it's not something you should panic about either.
We should stop spending money on that idiotic Keyoto protocol and pump in money in R&D for renewable energy.
do you think it will always be the same? or things well get worse then they are now sick people dying from different kinds of desises hunger and world poverty war guns cops usa china russia presidents money struggle for living home food it wont be the same as it is right now 20years forword in to our future this whole global warming disaster well make thing change in future want more education on how the change well happen just search for the Venus Project on youtube.
the dead can't adapt, assuming the 10% still survive and are more resilent to the temperature change, they may produce offspring that are better adapted. but until then, the 90% of the coral will make the reef a very barren place
here in our place, we leave areas for sanctuaries...meaning that fishing in that area is strictly prohibited....

That's because it is digital language. The clue was the way it pronounced "algae" with a hard "g".

Many areas of the world pronounce it that way.

The narration sounds, to me, like a text-to-speech machine "generated" voice. Seriously.
If so, it seems very good. If not, it is a very good simulation therof. Actually, i would really like to know....
