I have seen something similiar in the US. Most trucks have a line of sight at or above 12 feet above the ground. COuple that with a small car and the driver might never even know it is there. This most liekly can be blamed on teh car driver for 2 reasons: 1 getting too close to teh truck and getting sucked into its grill, or 2 attempting to get in front of the truck way too soon. In both cases the car driver could have died due more to his/her stupidity.
@chuzzwozzer I own a truck and truthfully the power they ahve under the hood is very impressive. Although sticking a Jet engine under the hood might be a good idea, get the goods to market fatser than they can grow.

@cc010750 given that the vehicle is unladen around 14ton and he sits low in the seat and she is on the passenger side blind area thats why, he is in a XF480 so 1 ton car is not noticable the woman was given 6 points and £200 fine for undertaking, you can park a people carrier along the front of a cab over and not see it thats how big the blind area at the front is.

This lorry driver, was driving at the legal speed.. and the woman pulled into his blind spot and attempted to undertake...
The Woman undertook the lorry... its a 44 tonne lorry, and travveling at 56MPH.. its been proven that the driver cannot see from the drivers seat.. and that the lorry would not feel any bump as such..

The truck driver has just been cleared by the courts of any wrong-doing, and the magistrates actually praised him for his calm actions when he found out what was happening. Hurrah for the British justice system!!
What actually happened here was that she overtook him on the inside, nipped in right in front of him where she couldn't be seen then began driving slower than he was.
As he inched nearer unaware that she was there she was eventually gently nudged which spun her around into the situation you see in the video. He remained entirely oblivious that she was there until he was alerted by other motorists flashing hazard lights.

They have concluded the lorry driver was not at fault, and the car driver caused the accident. It's quite obvious it wasn't deliberate. How can a car end up stuck to the front of a lorry on purpose? It was an accident caused by the car driver moving into the lorry's lane without looking. It is very very clear that there are three lanes on the MOTORWAY and there is no way you can confuse the two lanes on the slip road as being part of the MOTORWAY because of the white line lane markings!

Actually, in truck that size you feel very little, I was in a 14 ton truck and a car ran into the back of us and you feel very very little, it was a little jerk similiar to letting the clutch off a car and rolling a bit. The car that ran into us was all smashed up to the bonnet. Seriously ive also seen semi's run over the front of a car, like back 2 wheels on the left side of the trailer and they have no clue. The Woman undertook the lorry... its a 44 tonne lorry, and travveling at 56MPH.. its been proven that the driver cannot see from the drivers seat.. and that the lorry would not feel any bump as such..
The driver has been put through alot due to this video, even though its been proven to be not of any fault of his....
Stupid bitch that undertook is luckily to be alive, never mind try and claim against the lorry driver - Sometimes you have got to admit to being in the wrong.

After driving trucks for 13 yrs, fault or no fault. He would have felt the drag, heard the grinding metal. You can see the dame sparks coming off the car. And it would have effected his steering. What actually happened here was that she overtook him on the inside, nipped in right in front of him where she couldn't be seen then began driving slower than he was.
As he inched nearer unaware that she was there she was eventually gently nudged which spun her around into the situation you see in the video. He remained entirely oblivious that she was there until he was alerted by other motorists flashing hazard lights.

If by real fluke (I still have my probs believing it) the car was stuck there because she cut in too sharp and the driver was so pissed off that he decided to press on (literally), then he put the woman into unspeakable danger and could have mangled her up if something had given way. The truck driver must then be ultra thick and sick.

In the UK this seems to have died down as a little newstime sensation, but here (in my view correctly) the Germans would say that here was someone in command of many tons of weight and power and put the woman into an extreme life threatening situation tantamount to attempted murder.Major offence.

@trident3b If you'd like to take a look at the latest BBC news, you will find the Police took the incident very seriously and it has been fully investigated. They have concluded the lorry driver was not at fault, and the car driver caused the accident. The lorry driver will be allowed to keep his licence, although understandably he is considering his future as a professional driver. Suggesting people should be "put away" and tried for "attempted murder without knowing all the facts.....cretin

It's quite obvious it wasn't deliberate. How can a car end up stuck to the front of a lorry on purpose? It was an accident caused by the car driver moving into the lorry's lane without looking. I don't know all the facts, and neither do you. The police have proved he could not see the car from his position, that is why he wasn't charge and not lost his licence.

@ssssroryssss2 you obviously haven't actually watched the footage! This is on the A1(M) near Whetherby not the A1! This is a 3 lane motorway (not dual carriageway) with a dual lane slip road. It is very very clear that there are three lanes on the MOTORWAY and there is no way you can confuse the two lanes on the slip road as being part of the MOTORWAY because of the white line lane markings!

car drivers! wagons need a load of room to manouver, as well as stop. just cos your small and quick, just nipping in front of a wagon and slowing down is not a good idea, think about the weight were pulling or better still take an LGV test, no its not an HGV test anymore. While i agree that the trucker in this case should have the full weight of the law brought down on him, i know this junction its ware the A1M meats the M1 and A64 near Garforth, and its a good place for a bad smash

Actually, in truck that size you feel very little, I was in a 14 ton truck and a car ran into the back of us and you feel very very little, it was a little jerk similiar to letting the clutch off a car and rolling a bit. The car that ran into us was all smashed up to the bonnet. Seriously ive also seen semi's run over the front of a car, like back 2 wheels on the left side of the trailer and they have no clue. Unless you can physically see the car or seen the initial hit you have no chance
