After I was up and moving the pain was bad!!! Not to horrible but I got sick and I coughed a lot and it was horrible! !!!... but I did heal fast ans my scar is not as noticeable but ill be having my second soon and hopee things go well (: I recommend you get something to relaxe you before you get your spinal.. it helps a lot..
It's not up to us which way it goes. I don't see why everyone is arguing over it anyways. Who cares how the baby is brought into the world as long as it's healthy and ALIVE, that's all that matters. Right?
Not everyone can have a vaginal birth. With me I had to have an emergency c-section with my first daugther and with my second daughter I'm having another c-section. It didn't take that long for me to recover the first time. I was up moving and doing things just a few hours after my c-section, I felt no pain afterwards. 8 hours after they forced me to take my pain medicine because they were sure I was in pain. Vaginal birth isn't for everyone.
Ive had 5 c/s and im having my 6th this october.their not that bad.after my 1st one it got easier to recover.some of these comments are just over dramatic to me.
To all of those who say an elective c-section is an "easy way out", you are very wrong and many of you are just being plain hurtful. When I realized how large my son was and realized the odds of laboring for hours, then having to have a c-section were very high, I chose to spare both of us the trauma. It wasn't an easy choice because I knew there were many risks. Please don't make us feel badly for doing what we thought was right.
if you can go natural,go natural.I had an emergency CS,if I knew what it really means I'd rather risk pushing my daughter as breach.2 weeks I couldn't do ANYTHING!Next 3 months were very difficult and I was still in pain.Natural labour is much more beneficial for the baby and the mum.Who chooses CS over natural birth looks just for an easy way out of pregnancy. When you decided to have a baby you decided to give your baby the best -so give them the best, give them natural birth that they deserve!
This Doctor makes the recovery from a c-section seem not much more difficult from a vaginal birth. This was not my experience at all. While there are some instances where a vaginal birth can result in 4th degree tearing or episiotomy, it is not comparable to an incision through the skin, fat, abdominal wall, and uterus. It was a long recovery, 3 months to feel "normal." Not to mention the time away from your baby while you are being stiched up in the operating room.
i had 2 c sections i cant give natural child birth and i love flashing my scars around and i am very proud of them its a true good sign that you became a wonderful mother you won't feel pain but you will feel alot of pressure if you are awake like i was i got to greet and hold my sons on the operating table the reason for this is because my pelvis wont separate to shit my kid out first one i had i was in back labor until they gave me relief to where i couldn't feel a thing
This is why the national c section rate is up to 23% now. Because it sure is a lot EASIER for the woman, and the doctor to get that baby right out of there. But guess what, its called LABOR for a reason. Because its not an easy process. This isnt the way nature intended life to be brought into this world. Did you know that at home births and birthing centers have a 4-5% rate for c section. When you go to the hospital, it CAUSES complications that lead to a c section. Do research first ladies.
im 37 weeks and my doctor said she is over 8 pounds already so she wants to do a c section. i said hell no. as long as she is perfectly fine i would rather have my twat ripped open than my stomach. who would WANT a c section. thats ridiculous. its major surgery and the easy way out of labor. natural birth is completely better for a baby, its natures way. if god didnt want it like that he wouldnt of put it like that. its the way of life.
I've had two c-sections by choice. My first birth was vaginal. I went in and out of labor for a week before I gave birth, but he was fine they said, he is your first he's just taking his time. But something was wrong with the placenta and he didn't get enough " food " and he was too weak to take the presure of being born naturally and he died inside me. So when I became pregnant again, I didn't think twice.15 hours after the first c-sec I was up walking around, a little longer after the second.
If I was Minister for health, caesarean sections would not be avaliable to women for 'choice' simply for the easy way out. There is no easy way out of giving birth. I think it is a complete waste of knowledge and resources, and is taking away from those women that actually NEED it!
I've had both vaginal and c-section.. With my first child I had her vaginal and I loved evry minute of it, and as soon as I had her, the pain was gone.. No with my son I had to have an c-section (not by choice) because he was too big and I tell ya, I'd rather had giving birth vaginally.. After the c-section it took 2 weeks to heal, had trapped gas, and it felt like my insides wanted to fall out of my stomach, any woman that choses to have a c-section are really missing out on a wonderful event
i dont know what shes talking about. im having my c section this friday. my husband and i have made the decision to have a c section. so the whole you dont get to choose is honestly bs.
hey all!!! ya know i've been watching all these videos about natural birth and c/s delivery's and im pretty scared of both.I am epileptic and my doctors dont want to risk me having a seizure while pushing so my neurologist and ob-gyn are advising me that a c/s would be better and would not put the baby's life in jeopardy.i looked it up and everyone else says the same thing i just wanted to see what you guys think?
@vasilisa9255 Not durring the surgery itself, but in the days and weeks afterwards, definately. Just like any other major surgery. There may also be emotional pain. PPD is common in mother's that deliver via c-section.
@vasilisa9255 i dont know about anyone else but i had 2 c sections and did not feel any pain what so ever in the operation. it hurts a little after the surgery, but nothing i could not cope with. it took me about 3 days till the strong pain went away and after that every day hurt a little less.
I have a 3 year old who was 8 1/2 pounds 22 inches long that was delivered vaginally and was very traumatic. I have small hips and had 3 nurses on top of my stomach pushing down for nearly 3 hours because I could not get him out, along with a very large episiotomy. I'm 38 weeks pregnant with my second and they can see from the ultra sound this time the baby is even larger so I'm most likely going to have to have a c-section for my health and the babies.
I have had 3 c-sections. The first one I had a long labor and was exhausted, It's a little tough the first few days especially when they want you to get up and walk around.. but it was nothing I couldn't handle and having pain medication did help...You just have to take it easy, no heavy lifting, stairs, etc. The other two were much easier because I was more aware of what to expect. Not everyone has a high pain tolerance.. and everyone is different. Csection/Vaginal. We're all moms in the end.
They didn't let me nurse my twins right away. In fact I didn't see them for 4 days because they decided to have me deliver at one hospital and care flight my twins to a neighboring NICU due to the current hospitals NICU being too full. I had a really hard time bonding let alone establishing nursing. I was 20 when I gave birth and if I had more sense I would have done it differently. It was a nightmare and I wouldn't do it again if I had the CHOICE!!
A C-SECTION SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED UNLESS THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH EITHER MOTHER OR BABY. RECOVERY IS WEEKS LONGER AND PAIN IS MUCH MORE MORE INTENSE POSTPARTUM, ITS MAJOR SURGERY. IVE HAD 2 OF THEM AND THE FIRST AFTER 15 HRS OF LABOR, AND STILL I WOULD HAD RATHER HAD MY BABIES NATURALLY, HOWEVER I DO NOT REGRET HAVING THEM BY C-SECTION, CAUSE I KNOW IT WAS A MATTER OF SAFTEY
You never get a choice in getting a c-section?!? That's a complete LIE! You ALWAYS have the right to refuse ANY medical treatment. This video completely ignores the risks involved and seems like it's encouraging women to have unecessary surgery. What a crock! Yes, there are cases that warrent the surgery, but even then, you have a choice. I've had one and I will definately have VBAC for any other children I have.
I had an emergency c-section because my baby's heart rate dropped when i was having minor contractions. I had no choice. I was fine until the nurse made me get up and go to the bathroom,it was extremely painful.I couldn't laugh or anything. My advice is to get up and start walking as soon as you can to heal faster. I would go out and walk around even if it hurted and it worked.
Ladies!! Don't get a cesarean!! It makes your belly poochy! Your body is supposed to go through with the labor and delivery!! It helps you bond ro your baby! It helps you recover faster! This obstetrician makes it sound easy and better but it's not! please make informed descions! Avoid c-section unless absolutely necessary! read up on waterbirth!! Its soo worth it!!
@breethwithme It takes about 10 mins for them to get the baby about. But the whole surgery itself from them making the incision, taking out the baby and stitching her up takes about an hour. Dont worry she will not feel any pain at all, just pressure or the dr touching her but it does not hurt at all. Both of my children were born by c-section. It does not hurt the baby at all! Congrats on your baby and good luck!
@breethwithme I delivered my beautiful perfect baby girl with a c section 4 weeks ago and am now feeling 100% recovered. The actual surgery lasted about 20 minutes and I didn`t feel any pain at all (apart from the epidural ouch!) The first few days after the birth were very painful but by the 3rd day I was up walking around quite normally and within a week I felt fine. C sections are definitely less traumatic and safer for both mother and baby
@bichoalder "Safer for mother and baby"? OH MY GOODNESS! That is the most uninormed comment I've ever heard. Risk of death for mother and baby are WAY higher with unnecessary c-section. Not to mention infection, respiratory problems for the baby and breastfeeding issues because of the physical trauma of the surgery. Study after study shows that the safest way for most babies to be delivered is using the midwifery model of care. When it comes to interventions, the fewer the better.
@edefyinggravity First thing: what is an "uninormed" comment? And secondly I decided to have a c-section on the recommendation of my doctor. Before coming to a decision he informed me of the facts and of the pros and cons of c-section v`s natural birth, so I was very well informed by various medical experts. I`m assuming that you are not a doctor and therefore you have no real idea what you are talking about.
@bichoalder "C sections are definitely less traumatic and safer for both mother and baby" is the uninformed comment I was referring to. It's blatantly untrue. Do tell, what did your doctor say were the pros and cons of a natural birth? More importantly, why didn't you do any research yourself? Why did your doctor TELL you what was going to be done with YOUR body and YOUR baby? If you want facts, I suggest reading "The Thinking Woman's Guid to a Better Birth."
@edefyinggravity Physical Trauma? as in being pulled out of a cut is less traumatic than crammed thru a tight bone structure for hours???? haha you should maybe research things before you are all opinioned and self righteous
@heidiboolovely A structure that babies were designed to come out of. A structure that expands to allow the baby to come through. A structure that squeezes excess fluid out of the baby's lungs and stimulate reflexes that are important for breastfeeding. Yeah, babies should come out of that structure. a.k.a. The vagina. I'm not being "opinioned" (I think you mean opinionated) or self-rightous. I'm presenting scientific facts that are based on the hours and hours of research I've done.
In response to the video: Women are three times more likely to experience a severe complication with an elective C section than with a vaginal delivery. Over 300 women per year in the US DIE from complications of C/S, and many more loose their fertility, their inability to breastfeed the baby (Shehaan's syndrome, caused by blood loss), and suffer from long term complications. Read "Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn" by Penny Simkin and learn how to make labor easier.
I had 32 hours of labor before the decision was made to have a c-section, a natural birth is so much better, especially for the recovery afterwards....
honestley if you have a choice natural birth is better....im on my second c section the after pain hurts like hell....if you really want to know whats up write me i'll let you know....
I am choosing a c-section when I get pregnant, because I fractured my tailbone falling down a flight of stairs. It's been 6 mos since my fall, and I STILL haven't healed and am in agony daily. So I don't want to re-injure my tailbone/pelvis with a vaginal birth; me being unable to sit, recline with, or hold/play with my baby for another 6 mos is not ideal! My family Doctor agrees that a c-section would be the safest option. Electives aren't always selfish; I'm not "too posh to push"!
My first two daughters were born vaginally and my 3rd was a boy which was born by c section. I hated it. The feeling that I had was horrible. Just to adjust myself in bed to breastfeed was ridiculous. The thought of having my stomach opened was hard to deal with. I didn't poop until the 4th day after.
You have to have a catheter placed in there which I have never had that done before. They give you pain meds but they don't take away the reality of what just happened. It sucked. Won't do it again
Why don't some doctors tell women the truth? Over 300 women DIE each year from C/S, not to mention the number of women who loose their fertility, or suffer damage to other pelvic organs. Avoiding labor is NOTHING compared to the pain of having surgery. If this leads to failure at breastfeeding, which it easily can because mom just feels awful, then one has just robbed herself, and her baby of health benefits which can last a lifetime.
I dont know any woman who dıed durıng a C-sectıon . honestly, I know a lot of people who have chosen an electıve c-sec and dıd just fıne. most of them tell me the paın afterwards ıs bad for a few days but then they are okay afterwards. I actually heard more horror storıes wıth vagınal delıvery, ıncludıng myself. I hate vagınal delıvery. ıt ıs awful . you feel lıke you are goıng to dıe any mınute. at least my experıence was awful.. the baby ıs worth ıt though !
@owensgrandy Yes they do die but many die from natural birth as well. I had a c section because I wanted one, and I will have another NO complications both of us are fine. I know many women just this month, they had to break a babys collar bone so the baby could fit through the birth canal and one of my close friends had to get a c section because the baby got stuck. I really was not in so much pain. I never took my pain killers because I did not need them Its not that bad.
It's almost like he's encouraging women to take this route!!! I've had 2 sections (not by choice) and it's not pretty the recovery takes 6 weeks. It's no fun being constipated for a week and rising up on soo many pain killers. Not to mention not being able to sleep comfortably and having to take 10 mins just to get up out of the bed to tend to your baby.
I had a C-Section with both of my children and let me tell you it is no pic-nick!!!!!
The pain afterward is not just the same as a normal delivery and you are in pain for 2-3 weeks after the baby is born and you are not allowed to lift anything heavier than your baby... so that means if you have any other children you can not pic them up and they cant really climb up to see you either because you are very tender. I hated having C-sections but both my babies didn't tolerate labor well
My first child was in breech position so we had to have a section, but I am going for a VBAC with my current pregancy. Saying a VBAC is riskier than a c section is wrong. Doctors not doing VBACS has nothing to do with risk. Do your homework, the OB-GYN association has stated it is safe for women to have VBACS and docs and hospitals need to and will get with the program. Women just get informed!!!!
I have to have a caesarian. I have had surgery on my uterus. Vaginal delivery would be like a VBAC for me, and too risky. Most docs won't even do VBACs.
I've had three elective sections. I always wanted to go into labour and to have a normal birth, but my body wouldn't allow that to happen. I'd recommend a section if there are complications at the end of pregnancy, it is far nicer for the baby. Painful for mum for the first three days but it soon gets easier.
For people who say it's safer to have a c-section, you are ignorant. Maternal and infant death is much higher with c-sections. This has always been the case. Why anyone would choose to surgically remove their baby from their womb to avoid the privilege of giving birth to their child is sad.
@reefturkey I'm not at all religious. From a scientific point of view, natural birth is much safer for mother and child in most cases. Don't make assumptions about people you don't know.
yeah i understand that one hope your doing alright and keep positive thoughts it will be okay either way sweety what ever it takes to get your beautiful baby here! cant wait to see the baby!!!
i didnt have a choice with my 1st... now im pregnant again and my dr said no to vbac since my csection was a year ago he opted for me to have another one.... so i dont have a choice this one either but its alright whatever for the safety of my babies
i had c-section...i like it it was traumatizing because my body was in totally in pain but knowing my vagina did not stretch out as if i was to give birth naturally.....everything is going to be just fine...
Ive had three c sections through no choice of my own ( big babies ) i found the recovery a little painful nothing codine cant sort tho :) Both my babies bonded very well after the c sections. I am due to have my third c section in Aug :) wish me luck lol
I had to hae c sect due to severe pre-eclampsia, but I wouldn't recommend choosing it unless its medically necessary or if u had had one... if yr pregnancy is fine & healthy then just go for natural birth. Why go thru a long recovery process, why take t hat risk for potenial complications from it? I happened to get lucky that I healed very quickly within dayd when generally it can take up to 3 wks 2 be back to "normal"...
The recovery is similar??? Is this guy a nutcase? I have had a c-section and two vaginal births and I CAN TELL YOU that a c-section recovery is WAY HARDER. Plus, with a c-section there are not the same bonding/love hormones that you get with a vaginal birth. I'd like to see this guy have a c-section..... PLEASE PREGNANT MOMS- DO NOT HAVE AN ELECTIVE C/S.
@rabbicreditor i agree, ladies plz refrain from elective c/s. you wont avoid pain that way. as for bonding hormones, breatfeeding makes up for that, it still kicks in, but maybe slight longer to , that's all.
I agree with you until the part of the not same bonding/love hormones as you put it. A good woman will always love her baby, no matter how it was born or how he/she is. I was born through a c-section and I can tell you, the bond between my mother and I is very strong. The type of birth does not determine the bonding or anything, more like the actions and just the way the mother and child handle each other.
@rabbicreditor i agree when i had my c section i didnt see my baby for hours ... =( didnt get to bond with him like i wanted to bc he was in the nicu .. bc idaho sucks and is the shittiest place to have a baby
Thank you all for the encouraging words. Actually, the doctor doing the c-section tomorrow is really awesome. She talked with me and put my fears to ease. This hospital does not tie down arms, merely has them out to the side on "boards". I am actually very excited now because we get to meet our son tomorrow morning!
Sadly, I have to have a c-section because my baby is too large. What bothers me most is that I have been abused in the past and am concerned this event will bring back those memories. I am hoping they put me out, otherwise I might have a bad anxiety attack when they restrain my arms.
as precious as those first moments will be, that might be better if you're asleep. but if you choose that, make sure some is taking pictures AND VIDEO for you!
as an abuse victim & also kidnap survivor myself, i understand. years after i was kidnapped (the kidnapping was the end of 11 years of abuse) i had to take a self-defense course. part of it is being "attacked" & restrained, and knowing how to get free. i had to have my best friend there & it was private rather than in class.
@LadyTanika They dont tie you down very tightly. Its more like a gentile hold on your arms. You can ask them if you can leave one free. I have had three and it was not tight just a hold and they are adjustable. I hope that helps. Its really better for the baby not to be completely out
@LadyTanika Trauma in birth is real and scary, i hope you dont have to go thru that again.. look in to Vbac at Ican online i did it and it was AMAZING! total freedom and look in to a midwife, they are soft and kind, they really work with abused moms alot.. mine was a life saver! i got a lot of healing in my Vbac! good luck!
The "best way" is the way which limits sickness & death for mom and baby. The most natural way *is* through the vagina, but realize too that naturally moms or babies used to die during delivery much more often than they do now. In the end, if I had to choose between natural death of myself or my child, or surgery that saved one or both lives, I would do it.
The important issue is to ensure benefit outweighs risk. This requires good education and sound decision making, and not just gut reaction.
After all the distressed labour the mother had emergency C-Section. She is traumatised still to this day and baby is not well tube feeding and can't sit, roll, talk or walk...the hospital have damaged this baby. They were so cruel & did not care...the nurse is a sick woman & is a maternal health nurse teacher...she is teaching that meconium staining is not a sign of danger & many baboes died at that hospital...this is murder! Meconium staining can kill & cause severe brain injury!
My friend's baby got severe brain injury and Cerebral Palsy due to lack of oxygen at birth bcoz he swallowed meconium in the stomach during labour. The nurse should have interveined when she saw the mec stain & call emergency for casearian but she went off to lunch causing neglect & baby suffocating...it depends on the nurses too it was her fault & now the parents are taking hopsital to court. Mother had perfect pregnancy, got induced coz baby was 12 days overdue & too big (about 5kgs). NOT FAIR
Majority of women can give birth naturally with little or no intervention, but some of us aren't so lucky. Having my 3rd C-section in a few days. #1 was a failed labour as my baby was 11lb2 (5.02kg)!! I am only 50kg (when not pregnant) and 5ft tall so this baby was over 10% of me! #2 baby was placenta praevia (placenta in the way of birth canal). Now I have been advised it's too risky to attempt a natural birth. We should focus on a healthy bub and mum, rather than who's 'right and wrong'.
My brother was coming out pelvis first. If they didn't do a C-Section, my brother would have died and my mother may have died due to complications. It's not always bad.
What they don't mention as that the different types of c-sections have different recovery times. A vertical incision which is the fastest for emergency situations, takes longer to heal and you won't be able to get around as early as someone with a horizontal incision. Oh and most women puke during c sections too... they told me that after I threw up all over my self.
I have had 2 emergency c-sections. Both my labours were quite traumatising. The recovery is slow, the risks are high. Both me and my kids are fine now but jus foun d out im pregnant again and terrified of havin another section. Docs do this all the time so fingers crossed im in and out or maybe be given the gift of goin it natrual! :/
Don't accept c-section as an option unless it's a REAL EMERGENCY, necessary to save the life of the mother and baby. Taking Bradley-method birth classes can teach you exercises to go through labor and give birth safely, without any pain medication and your baby will be healthier for it! Midwives can turn babies if necessary, but breach babies though more difficult can still be born vaginally. The risk of infection and death is significantly higher with C-section - it is MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY.
There are a LOT of things you can do to avoid a c-section, and the biggest one is do not go to an o.b for care! Midwives are experts in prenatal care, labor, and birth for healthy, low-risk women.
MANY c-sections are caused by interventions that o.b's do. Be informed! Seek real information! Women's bodies are made to give birth.
I feel sick .Iv got til' dec'18th til' baby id due ,Iv been offered a C-section as my last baby was very stuck and it all got very hair raising, hes ok now but the thought of a section is keeping me up at night and Im terrified.;-(
My baby dropped I was dilating even before I went to the hospital effacing as well everything was perfect and then b/c of epidural and pitocin I had to have the c section b/c i stopped dilating! Hoping for a VBAC next time
I had a Csection on April 30. I delivered a beautiful baby boy. When I was in labour, My son wasn't able to handle the contractions. I was fine. I was in and out in around 20 mins...even though if felt like a lifetime!!!!! lol I was fine. It's been 5 weeks now and and i'm doing great. No problens.
I am preganant and thinking of getting c-section. This video is extremely informative and good to know that there are many women like me out there who dont want to go through the whole labor process. Thanks for posting this video.
my advice to you and other women thinknig of it is to only get it if you need it..heres why my mom needed it..my head was too big to push out,she passed out from the pain,my body was too long for her to push out,and lastly i was 11 pounds!and theres many women who wonder why some babies arent breastfed..well my mom had to get hardcore painkillers the moment she woke up or she would've gone into shock and im actually glad i was bottlefed so those painkillers wouldnt have stunted my growth o.o
but you can also do something to prevent C-section..my mom ate 14 bowls of rice steak and fish with a vietnamese riceball dessert in some liquid that tastes like rice wine(but its not alcoholic) a day till birth so it makes sense why i was 11 pounds(also 6 days late)..haha but eh im glad :D
just had our third kid, had amnio, all were Csection because they NEVER DROPPED! Never went head down! Our last one - all of three days old- was, but he was breech when we delivered!
I guess we are the oddity - my wife wanted to labor sooo bad!
Fuck you and your lies!! Women do have a choice! Stop trying to make birth sound like a disease so you can make profit over it!!!!

Do research first ladies.

i had a c-section because i have a small pelvis and she lay the wrong way .its wrong to say that everyone can give birth vaginal.

After the c-section it took 2 weeks to heal, had trapped gas, and it felt like my insides wanted to fall out of my stomach, any woman that choses to have a c-section are really missing out on a wonderful event

hey all!!! ya know i've been watching all these videos about natural birth and c/s delivery's and im pretty scared of both.I am epileptic and my doctors dont want to risk me having a seizure while pushing so my neurologist and ob-gyn are advising me that a c/s would be better and would not put the baby's life in jeopardy.i looked it up and everyone else says the same thing i just wanted to see what you guys think?

is there any possibility of feeling the slightest pain??
vasilisa9255 9 months ago
@vasilisa9255 Not durring the surgery itself, but in the days and weeks afterwards, definately. Just like any other major surgery. There may also be emotional pain. PPD is common in mother's that deliver via c-section.
edefyinggravity 8 months ago
@vasilisa9255 i dont know about anyone else but i had 2 c sections and did not feel any pain what so ever in the operation. it hurts a little after the surgery, but nothing i could not cope with. it took me about 3 days till the strong pain went away and after that every day hurt a little less.

I have a 3 year old who was 8 1/2 pounds 22 inches long that was delivered vaginally and was very traumatic. I have small hips and had 3 nurses on top of my stomach pushing down for nearly 3 hours because I could not get him out, along with a very large episiotomy. I'm 38 weeks pregnant with my second and they can see from the ultra sound this time the baby is even larger so I'm most likely going to have to have a c-section for my health and the babies.
missyxdice 9 months ago 4

I would go out and walk around even if it hurted and it worked.

how long does it take to have a c section and do you feel it does it hurt your baby becuse my woman having it done
breethwithme 1 year ago
@breethwithme It takes about 10 mins for them to get the baby about. But the whole surgery itself from them making the incision, taking out the baby and stitching her up takes about an hour. Dont worry she will not feel any pain at all, just pressure or the dr touching her but it does not hurt at all. Both of my children were born by c-section. It does not hurt the baby at all! Congrats on your baby and good luck!
Brittany0786 11 months ago 2
@breethwithme I delivered my beautiful perfect baby girl with a c section 4 weeks ago and am now feeling 100% recovered. The actual surgery lasted about 20 minutes and I didn`t feel any pain at all (apart from the epidural ouch!) The first few days after the birth were very painful but by the 3rd day I was up walking around quite normally and within a week I felt fine. C sections are definitely less traumatic and safer for both mother and baby
bichoalder 11 months ago
@bichoalder "Safer for mother and baby"? OH MY GOODNESS! That is the most uninormed comment I've ever heard. Risk of death for mother and baby are WAY higher with unnecessary c-section. Not to mention infection, respiratory problems for the baby and breastfeeding issues because of the physical trauma of the surgery. Study after study shows that the safest way for most babies to be delivered is using the midwifery model of care. When it comes to interventions, the fewer the better.
edefyinggravity 9 months ago
@edefyinggravity First thing: what is an "uninormed" comment? And secondly I decided to have a c-section on the recommendation of my doctor. Before coming to a decision he informed me of the facts and of the pros and cons of c-section v`s natural birth, so I was very well informed by various medical experts. I`m assuming that you are not a doctor and therefore you have no real idea what you are talking about.
bichoalder 9 months ago 2
@bichoalder "C sections are definitely less traumatic and safer for both mother and baby" is the uninformed comment I was referring to. It's blatantly untrue. Do tell, what did your doctor say were the pros and cons of a natural birth? More importantly, why didn't you do any research yourself? Why did your doctor TELL you what was going to be done with YOUR body and YOUR baby? If you want facts, I suggest reading "The Thinking Woman's Guid to a Better Birth."
edefyinggravity 8 months ago
@edefyinggravity Physical Trauma? as in being pulled out of a cut is less traumatic than crammed thru a tight bone structure for hours???? haha you should maybe research things before you are all opinioned and self righteous
heidiboolovely 9 months ago
@heidiboolovely A structure that babies were designed to come out of. A structure that expands to allow the baby to come through. A structure that squeezes excess fluid out of the baby's lungs and stimulate reflexes that are important for breastfeeding. Yeah, babies should come out of that structure. a.k.a. The vagina. I'm not being "opinioned" (I think you mean opinionated) or self-rightous. I'm presenting scientific facts that are based on the hours and hours of research I've done.
edefyinggravity 8 months ago
In response to the video: Women are three times more likely to experience a severe complication with an elective C section than with a vaginal delivery. Over 300 women per year in the US DIE from complications of C/S, and many more loose their fertility, their inability to breastfeed the baby (Shehaan's syndrome, caused by blood loss), and suffer from long term complications. Read "Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn" by Penny Simkin and learn how to make labor easier.

Electives aren't always selfish; I'm not "too posh to push"!
moseschrute 1 year ago

I hated having C-sections but both my babies didn't tolerate labor well
fuzzypeach5 1 year ago
My first child was in breech position so we had to have a section, but I am going for a VBAC with my current pregancy. Saying a VBAC is riskier than a c section is wrong. Doctors not doing VBACS has nothing to do with risk. Do your homework, the OB-GYN association has stated it is safe for women to have VBACS and docs and hospitals need to and will get with the program. Women just get informed!!!!

How can you say women who have c-sections are ignorant? your ignorant for that statement some women have no choice! Get a life you bitch!
lclerma1 1 year ago 3
I have to have a caesarian. I have had surgery on my uterus. Vaginal delivery would be like a VBAC for me, and too risky. Most docs won't even do VBACs.
kitty8199 1 year ago
I've had three elective sections. I always wanted to go into labour and to have a normal birth, but my body wouldn't allow that to happen. I'd recommend a section if there are complications at the end of pregnancy, it is far nicer for the baby. Painful for mum for the first three days but it soon gets easier.
salibabe30 1 year ago
For people who say it's safer to have a c-section, you are ignorant. Maternal and infant death is much higher with c-sections. This has always been the case. Why anyone would choose to surgically remove their baby from their womb to avoid the privilege of giving birth to their child is sad.

I happened to get lucky that I healed very quickly within dayd when generally it can take up to 3 wks 2 be back to "normal"...
babbina 1 year ago
The recovery is similar??? Is this guy a nutcase? I have had a c-section and two vaginal births and I CAN TELL YOU that a c-section recovery is WAY HARDER. Plus, with a c-section there are not the same bonding/love hormones that you get with a vaginal birth. I'd like to see this guy have a c-section..... PLEASE PREGNANT MOMS- DO NOT HAVE AN ELECTIVE C/S.
rabbicreditor 1 year ago 8
@rabbicreditor i agree, ladies plz refrain from elective c/s. you wont avoid pain that way. as for bonding hormones, breatfeeding makes up for that, it still kicks in, but maybe slight longer to , that's all.
babbina 1 year ago
@rabbicreditor

LadyTanika 1 year ago
Sadly, I have to have a c-section because my baby is too large. What bothers me most is that I have been abused in the past and am concerned this event will bring back those memories. I am hoping they put me out, otherwise I might have a bad anxiety attack when they restrain my arms.
LadyTanika 1 year ago
as precious as those first moments will be, that might be better if you're asleep. but if you choose that, make sure some is taking pictures AND VIDEO for you!
as an abuse victim & also kidnap survivor myself, i understand. years after i was kidnapped (the kidnapping was the end of 11 years of abuse) i had to take a self-defense course. part of it is being "attacked" & restrained, and knowing how to get free. i had to have my best friend there & it was private rather than in class.
sprinklefriend 1 year ago
@LadyTanika They dont tie you down very tightly. Its more like a gentile hold on your arms. You can ask them if you can leave one free. I have had three and it was not tight just a hold and they are adjustable. I hope that helps. Its really better for the baby not to be completely out
nagaempress 1 year ago
@LadyTanika Trauma in birth is real and scary, i hope you dont have to go thru that again.. look in to Vbac at Ican online i did it and it was AMAZING! total freedom and look in to a midwife, they are soft and kind, they really work with abused moms alot.. mine was a life saver! i got a lot of healing in my Vbac! good luck!
camrondearing 1 year ago

Chambordelle 1 year ago 3
My friend's baby got severe brain injury and Cerebral Palsy due to lack of oxygen at birth bcoz he swallowed meconium in the stomach during labour. The nurse should have interveined when she saw the mec stain & call emergency for casearian but she went off to lunch causing neglect & baby suffocating...it depends on the nurses too it was her fault & now the parents are taking hopsital to court. Mother had perfect pregnancy, got induced coz baby was 12 days overdue & too big (about 5kgs). NOT FAIR
Chambordelle 1 year ago 2
Majority of women can give birth naturally with little or no intervention, but some of us aren't so lucky. Having my 3rd C-section in a few days. #1 was a failed labour as my baby was 11lb2 (5.02kg)!! I am only 50kg (when not pregnant) and 5ft tall so this baby was over 10% of me! #2 baby was placenta praevia (placenta in the way of birth canal). Now I have been advised it's too risky to attempt a natural birth. We should focus on a healthy bub and mum, rather than who's 'right and wrong'.

What they don't mention as that the different types of c-sections have different recovery times. A vertical incision which is the fastest for emergency situations, takes longer to heal and you won't be able to get around as early as someone with a horizontal incision. Oh and most women puke during c sections too... they told me that after I threw up all over my self.

balhamcity 2 years ago 4
Don't accept c-section as an option unless it's a REAL EMERGENCY, necessary to save the life of the mother and baby. Taking Bradley-method birth classes can teach you exercises to go through labor and give birth safely, without any pain medication and your baby will be healthier for it! Midwives can turn babies if necessary, but breach babies though more difficult can still be born vaginally. The risk of infection and death is significantly higher with C-section - it is MAJOR ABDOMINAL SURGERY.
PeetPeeet 2 years ago
There are a LOT of things you can do to avoid a c-section, and the biggest one is do not go to an o.b for care! Midwives are experts in prenatal care, labor, and birth for healthy, low-risk women.
MANY c-sections are caused by interventions that o.b's do. Be informed! Seek real information! Women's bodies are made to give birth.

my advice to you and other women thinknig of it is to only get it if you need it..heres why my mom needed it..my head was too big to push out,she passed out from the pain,my body was too long for her to push out,and lastly i was 11 pounds!and theres many women who wonder why some babies arent breastfed..well my mom had to get hardcore painkillers the moment she woke up or she would've gone into shock and im actually glad i was bottlefed so those painkillers wouldnt have stunted my growth o.o

but you can also do something to prevent C-section..my mom ate 14 bowls of rice steak and fish with a vietnamese riceball dessert in some liquid that tastes like rice wine(but its not alcoholic) a day till birth so it makes sense why i was 11 pounds(also 6 days late)..haha but eh im glad :D
