  • the 2003-2008 Honda Pilot was assembled in

    Alliston, Ontario, Canada (2003–2007)

    Lincoln, Alabama, USA

  • where can i find the original source vid for this? The video is longer at 1:35 than the one on the IIHS video channel. Their's doesn't have the first run, with the airbag deploying late and the horn staying on--any way I can get the link to that?

  • beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

  • airbag was late

  • that would be a great job for all rice lovers....crash test dummies.......

  • lol i love how the horn stays on after impact

  • look, the airbag didnt deploy quick enough

  • yep...airbag needs to respond quicker

  • first test not quick.

second test - ok work airbag

  • ....and you are a professional?

It earned five stars front and side. Apparently the real professionals thought it deployed quick enough....

  • calm down.

  • I don't think I was too excited there, chief.

  • good thing to know.

    you'll be okay though. right?

  • haha horn wont stop

  • honda is best car ever! i had accord but i'm gonna buy pilot next year

  • agree.

  • I also agree with u both, Hondas r the BEST!!!

  • this car saved my family from death, other people in a 2008 GMC suv died! my family got out without a mark!

  • GMC?

  • Id rather have a Honda over a Ford, GM, or Chrysler! There not all that american anymore and they need to go into the shop every other week for a new problem or for the same problem 3 or 4 times! Never had a problem with any of my Hondas and walk away from a few of them after and accident! There great cars!!!

  • Ouch... This comment hurt.... I work for Honda Honda Manufacturing of Alabama in Lincoln.... I am so proud to be a Honda Associate... Pilots are built in America and they are American made... When you buy a Pilot you are Supporting an American company and American workers...

  • American companies like ford are constantly moving their manufacturing plants out of America because they claim they can't afford to pay American wages yet Japanese companies like Honda and Toyota are building more assembly plants in America all the time. This isn't the 50's anymore, these "imports" are more American than the "domestics".

  • idiots, notice how the second test got "BEST PICK" do you people just watch the first part and complain because you hate japnese cars?

  • Ouch, the first test must have hurt!

  • Why the hell is my previous comment marked as spam?? I was just just voicing my opinion, jeez people!

  • well, i got in a crash with one at 70mph into a wall...got out of it like nothing happned

  • I totaled my '04 civic and came out without a scatch, airbags deployed perfectly. The police were amazed when they saw me walk out. Look at several crash test ratings for domestic and they're even worse, so you've no idea.

  • Trust me, every car manufacturer has imperfecties, and I am sure that American ones have more.

  • Oh, wow. This crash test is horrible! When they did the slow motion in the first crash particularly, the neck almost snapped. The test dummys head rolled around! This is horrible. You would most likely get very bad whiplash, or break your neck! Jeezum!

  • You are an idiot. Watch ANY other test.

Five stars front and side for the Pilot of all years...

  • The horn went off?

  • is it just me or did that airbag deploy a little too late in the first test? It didn't accept the forward movement of the driver's head; it resisted it

  • That's exactly what happened and likely why the second test was done.

  • BTW, the reason why timing is crucial for airbag deployment.

Too soon and the airbag would deflate before it is of use to help prevent steering wheel contact.

Too late and the airbag would deploy on the head, which is bad since the airbag must literally explode out of the module in order to deploy in time; it would be like a metal plate hitting the head at high speed so no doubt the dummy's sensors recorded high acceleration on the head on the first test, indicating possible serious injury.

  • Consequently, this is also why you never turn the wheel using an underhand grip with a car equipped with a driver-side SRS/SIR as this puts your arm in the deployment path of the airbag. If the airbag goes off, it will break your arm and swing it up to your face.

Not a pretty thought at all!

  • Well, indeed the test resulted without a doubt in a broken neck. Fact is, it's not necessarily a specific problem for this particular car, it could happen with every modern car whose airbag timing deployment system is poorly designed.

  • My dad has that car...scary if that ever happened to us!
